Are You a Vampire?
I should feel relieved as Aaron was so nice about the whole thing, but I still felt an ache in my heart. Something just felt wrong. Why couldn't I get Jake out of my mind? It was just one stupid kiss, and it didn't even mean anything to him.
My phone buzzed all of a sudden, so I checked my text messages.
Meet me in the park by your house. Jake texted me.
Ugh...what does he want now?
Why? I replied.
Stop asking stupid questions and just show up already, he texted. Only Jake can sound so aggressive through texts. I rolled my eyes.
Fine, I'll play his game. I headed to the park. It was getting colder, so I zipped up my hoodie and put the hood on. I shouldn't have worn shorts. I thought as I shivered slightly.
Jake was sitting on the swing, looking at his phone. The wind must've messed up his hair because it looked a lot more messy and wild, which for some reason, made him look even more handsome.
His eyes lit up, and his lips twisted into a smirk when he saw me approaching.
"Janey, you came," he said.
"I just didn't feel like dealing with your threats and intimidation today," I said.
"You act like that's all I do to you. All the time," he frowned.
"You are kidding, right? YES! You do that to me a lot more than you think," I snapped.
"Whatever," he shrugged.
I don't know what I expected from him. An apology? Jake would never.
"Why did you ask me to come here?" I asked. It was getting colder, and I wanted to go home.
"Today at the cafeteria, why did you do that thing to Jenny?" he asked. He had an amused expression on his face.
"What, the pizza thing? That was just an accident," I said. The hell it was.
"Don't give me that bullshit Janey, I know what an accident looks like. That sure as hell didn't look like one. I have been watching you, and I saw you trip on purpose," he smirked.
"You were watching me? What were you watching me for?" I countered.
"Don't try to change the subject. You were jealous, weren't you?" he pressed.
"No way!" I protested.
"You were jealous I was paying so much attention to Jenny, and you wish it was you I was doing it to," he continued.
"I don't want to listen to this bullcrap. I am leaving," I said and attempted to walk away, but he grabbed my hand and enclosed it inside his fist.
"Let go.." I whispered.
"Not until you admit you want me," Jake stared at me hard. His eyes were dark and determined.
"No. I don't want you. I don't care about you," my voice shook as I tried to convince myself of what I just claimed.
"You are such a liar," he whispered and grazed my lips with his thumb. I shivered, but this time, it was not from the cold.
"Janey, Janey, Janey. What am I gonna do with you? You make me lose my fucking mind," he whispered and moved closer to me.
"I don't know what you are talking about," I said and closed my eyes as he started to caress my cheeks. His fingers felt warm and rough against my skin.
He grabbed my waist and pulled me closer.
He leaned forward and kissed my mouth that I parted without even thinking. His mouth tasted hot and sweet, like he had been eating a candy bar. He firmly held on to my hips and pushed my body against him, so I don't run away from him. I felt my heart flutter even though the kiss lasted for only 10 seconds.
"What are you so afraid of?" he asked.
"You," I replied. My eyes were closed as I still felt the sensation from his touches.
"You don't trust me," Jake said and ran his fingers through my hair.
I didn't say anything. I needed to get away from him because it was impossible to form coherent thoughts when he was touching me like this.
I pulled myself away from him. "I told Aaron about us kissing. He still wants to be with me, so I want you to leave me alone," I said weakly.
Anger flickered in his dark brown eyes. "Why are you being so stubborn? I told you you belong to me, Jane. Do you think I'll let you off that easily? Look at you! You melt in my arms every time I touch you. You want me!"
"Why me? You have all these girls you can choose from? What's so special about me. Is it because I look like some average weak girl who will listen to your ridiculous demands. So you can control me?" I cried.
"You think I'm that horrible, huh?" he let out a frustrated laugh.
"Well, that's how you act, so... " I said.
"I'm not going to stand here and try to defend myself to you. I don't owe you shit. I just came here because I missed you," he smirked.
"Fuck you," I sneered at him.
"That's the goddamn plan," he laughed.
Ugh...he is so infuriating.
He wrapped his arms around me all of a sudden and pressed his mouth on my neck before I could make a move. I shivered as I felt him nibbling on my skin and whelped as I felt a soft bite.
"Ah! What the hell are you doing?" I squealed.
"Marking you since you are too stubborn to leave Aaron," he said and continued to lick and nibble my neck.
"Stop that! You aren't a vampire," I giggled as it was starting to tickle.
"Mmm...almost done," he smiled against my skin and continued. Then, he stepped back to admire his handiwork. "There, have fun explaining that to him."
"I'm leaving," I announced and started to walk away.
"I'll walk you home shorty," he said and put his arms around my shoulders, and started to walk with me. I rolled my eyes but let him keep me company.
I face planted on my pillow in frustration. I touched my neck. It felt tender, so I went to look in the mirror to see what he did to it.
I gasped as I stared at the angry hickey he left me on my skin. No amount of concealer will cover this properly.
I hate him so much.
