Chapter 11

Heather closed her eyes in relief as she rested her face on Kevin’s shoulder. She felt thankful that she could rely on him. She lightly tapped his back to sort of give him a signal. He rubbed her back lightly as an answer. It was a good thing that he could pick up easily. She removed her head from his shoulder to look at him. If Blake was about 185 centimeters, Kevin was about 177. And unlike Eve’s cousin, Kevin's body was not as hunky. She scolded herself. She shouldn’t compare the two men. Kevin was a prospective friend while Blake was someone that she should steer clear of. He won't be good for her. Ever!

"Good morning hon." Kevin gave her a knowing smile .

Sam cleared her throat so they both looked her way.

The other woman was all smiles while Blake's expression was unreadable. His eyes weren’t on them. He was looking straight ahead with a clenched jaw. She felt a bit relieved when she saw that they were not holding hands anymore. Again she wanted to reprimand herself.

"I didn't know that you already have a man Heather! Tsk! And I was planning to introduce you to someone.”

Kevin took her hand and held it a little tightly.

"Weren't you surprised too babe?" Sam asked Blake in a husky voice but he didn’t reply.

He seemed to have a white ring around his mouth and his expression was woody.

"Heather is really full of surprises. She's like a box of chocolate....." Kevin's smile became a grin while still gazing at her and she let out a sweet smile too.

Then after a second or two Kevin’s eyes transferred again to Sam. "By the way, I'm Kevin." He introduced himself as he extended his hand .

Sam shook hands with him.

"You can call me Sam or Samantha and this is Blake." She threw Blake a glance but he didn't even glance at Kevin.

"I have seen him several times especially in the elevator. “ Kevin said and Sam nodded.

When the lift stopped again, Heather nodded at Sam without glancing at Blake" See you around." She said.

The other woman smiled. " Bye lovers..."

"Thanks Kevin."

"Anytime .I was about to have breakfast. Would you want to eat with me or would you rather do what you were supposed to do?" He asked with a smile.

She couldn’t help but smile too, "You know that I owe you one...so let's go have breakfast." She even wrapped her arms around his right one.

"Great! You better explain everything to me hon..." He said in a joking voice and she laughed lightly.

They were now seated in a café while having breakfast.

"I’ve seen you with that Blake in the lift twice already.”

"Correction, hon. I hate his guts and he doesn't like me too." She said with a small frown. (They decided to call each other hon)

Kevin chuckled.

"”I find that hard to believe. If he didn’t like you why does he look like that at you? And besides you seemed to be jealous seeing him with Sam and you were about to cry when I saw you a few moments ago.” He winked at her.

Heather stuck out her tongue at him before forking a pancake.

"You almost looked green from jealousy." He added jokingly.

She made a face at him. "Eow hon! You have a nasty imagination!”

He playfully pinched her nose. They were really comfortable with each other. Kevin showed her the picture of his sister and she really resembled her as he told her. His sister has shorter hair than her.

"You are prettier than Sam so don’t get jealous of her. If you don’t look like my sister, I would woo you ." he sighed and she laughed.

"Whenever you need my help, don't hesitate to ask me." He added.

She was touched with what he said. She got her hand and held it.

"Do you know that you are my first male friend? I also don’t have a brother. I miss my family a lot especially my mom but she is with my dad in Australia. I have been a bad daughter . I came back here alone to make them proud of me someday. And I want to say thank you for being my friend though we just met. You already helped me twice but to be honest I don’t deserve to have a nice friend like you but I am very grateful and lucky.”

He squeezed her hand . "We all make mistakes. What is important is we admit our faults and try to mend our ways. Don't be too hard on yourself." he gently said.

"Thanks.”

"So what's with you and that Blake?" He suddenly asked out of the blue and her brows knitted.

"Nothing! And I don't want to talk about him because I don’t want to have indigestion. I wished we didn’t meet again but sadly I am a member of his gym and we live in the same building. How unfortunate!” She said with a sigh before she sipped her juice.

"Do you want is to continue pretending to be a couple? That might stop that Blake from pursuing you if he is planning too. Just a warning though, do not fall for me.” He joked.

She rolled her eyes and crinkled her nose.

"Seriously hon. It's fine with me. I am also a man and I feel that Blake is interested in you."

" Well I wouldn’t be surprised since he seems to like all women. He badly wants to bed all the female he meets. I guess your offer is okay. Besides it’ll be good to have a constant date. Do not worry we can go Dutch!”

“Deal!” Kevin grinned and nodded. ”By the way, do you want to swim since you didn’t run?”

“Sure! Just wait for me in the lobby! I will just change into my swimwear.”

"Okay. Meet you there in 15 minutes." He said while beaming.

Blake was about to enter the building when he saw Heather with Kevin. The two were going to swim. Heather’s body was wrapped in a white sarong and her hair was in a messy ponytail which made her look sexier. The man was wearing a white shirt with matching board shorts. He had his hand on her back.

He gritted his teeth and decided to follow them secretly. He clenched his fists when she removed her sarong when they were near the pool.

He saw how the asshole she was with looked at her appreciatively while she was in a black two piece bikini.

"B*llshit! “ He cursed before turning away.

He just finished running but he needed to release what he was feeling. He went to his mini-gym. He released all his anger by hitting the punching bag repeatedly. He was mad at Heather for making him feel this way. He was furious with his ex because she was the reason he changed in so many ways.

With every punch, he promised himself that no female would make him look stupid again. He would never let any woman control him again .He kept on telling himself that Heather was just a pretty face. She was a flirt and she was just like Kristel. Maybe even worse than his ex. But he couldn’t hide the fact that he wanted her. He would definitely bed her. No strings attached. It would be just pure sex. If he won't f*ck her soon, he might do something crazy. His desire for her was really making him lose his equilibrium.

“I will have you!” he said before striking the punching bag again.

"Amy, there’s food in the fridge so please help yourself.” Heather said as she puts on make-up . She was getting ready to meet Pauline.

"Miss Heather? Are you okay?” The help asked with a look of disbelief.

She frowned. “Of course I am okay. Why?”

"It is the first time that you offered me food. Now I am worried that the world is about to end.” Amy shook her head while folding her clothes.

She stopped applying mascara on her lashes. “Was that how bad I was before? " She mumbled.

" Yes Miss! You were very rude, snobbish and really cruel!” She sighed. "I'm sorry Amy."

Amy’s eyes widened when she apologized. She looked very shocked. Her mouth was even slightly open

She couldn’t help smiling even she was already in the elevator. Vivid images of Amy’s reaction were playing in her mind. She felt a little better knowing that Amy accepted her sorry. She would be cleaning her unit once a week so she gave her a spare key. She didn’t have to worry about house chores. Amy was a great help. Her mother’s youngest sister Amor would also be checking her once in a while since her mother requested her to do so because that was what her dad wanted He still didn’t trust her. Her aunt was a bit strict since she was already in her 50s but still single.

She stepped out of the elevator. She got her phone and called Pauline. She was going to hail a taxi. She would look for a car the day after tomorrow.

Blake was parking his big bike when he saw Heather coming out of the door. His eyes narrowed. She was wearing a white off-shoulder dress .She got a light tan from her swim this morning which made her even look more delicious. She was like a ripe peach. She hardly had any make-up on. She was naturally beautiful.

He took off his helmet and held it with his left hand then walked quickly towards her. She was busy with her phone so she didn’t see him yet.

"Going somewhere sweetheart?" he asked.

She looked up and frowned then she started to walk the opposite way.

He grabbed her forearm and made her face him.

"Let me go!” She protested.

"You won't get a taxi at this hour. I will bring you to your destination." he said.

Heather looked at his hand which was holding his helmet. She raised a brow before her eyes went back to him.

"You expect me to ride on your big bike? Can’t you see that I am wearing a dress! There's no way that I'll ride your motorcycle!”

Blake’s eyes glinted and pulled her going back to the lobby.

"What do you think you're doing?"

"If you don't want to ride on my big bike then we will go up my unit to get my car keys. "They are now heading to the elevator and he was holding her hand tightly.

"WHAT?! Are you really crazy? I am not going up to your unit!" she shrieked.

"Stacey is my friend and I know how wild you can be. I am just trying to do her a favor by looking after you."

"You are not my baby-sitter and I am not going to your unit!”

He stopped walking then looked at her with narrowed eyes.

"Oh yes you are sweetheart. You are definitely coming with me. Not unless you want me to carry you? I don't trust you a bit. I am pretty sure that you would run away" he said coldly.

The elevator door opened.

"Hon? What’s wrong?"

They both looked at Kevin who was inside the lift.
