Longing
Arkan sat on the wooden floor looking up at the dark sky. Not only during the day, enjoying the view on the mountain at night is also enjoyable. He regretted not doing it first with Lunar.
"You drank coffee tonight, won't it be difficult to close your eyes later?"
Arkan lowered his gaze towards the man who was now also sitting with him. Rian put a glass of hot tea on the low table they occupied.
"I just want some coffee."
Rian shook his head. "Unreasonable excuse, but acceptable. Sometimes my wife also says that when she has cravings."
They sat outside wearing thick jackets. They talked for a long time about many things, of course conversations between men. He heard a lot about Rian's household life after the peace, more than the word harmony.
The first Rian cut off their conversation and returned to the room. Meanwhile, Arkan became the second person who felt that the air was getting colder. His thick jacket was no longer able to withstand the increasingly low temperatures.
Before returning to the room, Arkan went to the bathroom first. He is sensitive to cold air. What's more, he had been drinking a lot. So, the bladder is full and must be removed immediately.
Arkan went to the room after finishing his business. He had many things to think about before his eyes closed. Maybe, Rian was right that he shouldn't drink coffee at night. His longing was growing and he could not extinguish it when he opened his eyes.
He stopped swinging his legs down the hall leading to the bedroom. His hand was propped against the wall, then his other hand was squeezing his own clothes as if he was trying to calm his heart.
"Lunar, I miss you," he whispered to himself.
The two of them descended the mountain the next day. At this time, Arkan was talking to someone on the cell phone. Rian just kept quiet listening to what he overheard.
"I forgot about it. I'm sorry."
"How could you forget? I just contacted you yesterday and you went mountain climbing afterwards. Don't you think that's too much?"
Arkan away the phone for a moment, then put it back. He also stopped going down the mountain so he could focus on talking. "I'm going down the mountain now. We can continue later when I get to the apartment."
It was the last sentence that made the call end. Arkan put the phone back in the bag. He caught up with Rian who was already five meters away.
"Is that your girlfriend?"
"No."
"Then that means she's a woman who likes you."
"We like each other."
Rian immediately froze in place, then he turned his head. "You love two women."
Arkin smiled. "It's a very long story. Come on, get down. I don't have much time."
Coming out of the mountain, they usually go in different directions, this time Rian intends to hitch a ride. Arkan didn't mind that. They split up when Rian arrived at their destination. There is a small market that sells a lot of goods and groceries. The people there call it a traditional market.
Rian closed the cabin door, then he said, "My wife wants something from this market. So, I'll go buy it."
"Your days as a father must be very difficult."
Rian smiled. "Difficult and fun. Ah! If you climb the mountain, next time maybe you won't see me. I have to accompany my wife to take care of our little baby."
Arkan nodded his head. "Are you sure you're going to get out of here by yourself? I can take you."
"Thank you. But there's no need. I'll be at the market for a long time," said Rian while continuing to step back. He waved before turning around.
Arkan made no more offers. He immediately drove the car towards its destination back. Rian's life touches the word happy ending, inversely proportional to it.
Arriving at the apartment, Raya looked sullen. They just stared without speaking. Arkan went to the kitchen to get a drink. Two bottles of drink. One was given to Raya, while the other was given to him.
"How about your photoshoot?"
Raya took a deep breath. She did not drink what was given to her, but drank the contents of the glass he took herself. After wetting her dry throat, she spoke, "I'm staying here. You didn't change your apartment password."
Arkan gulped down the contents of the drink bottle again. He didn't change the apartment password. Deliberately done with the hope that one day Lunar will come.
However, it seems unlikely that this will happen. Lunar never came to the apartment he gave. Even though, the woman said that she would visit the apartment when she missed him. Did that mean Lunar didn't miss him?
Maybe somewhere, Lunar is living happily with Nico. It's been a matter of years and maybe they both also have children. Imagining it made his heart ache.
"You can come back if you don't have anything else to talk about. I want to rest."
Raya smiled wryly. "You didn't even sit down to greet meit's very sad when I was dumped, now to see how you are is the most difficult thing."
Raya gave a one-sided hug, then walked away. "Next week I will go abroad. I hope you take the time to treat me before you leave."
Arkan chose not to answer. He escorted Raya to the apartment door, then they didn't see each other after that. Moving towards each other, Arkan turned around.
Just a few steps, the sound of the door was heard. He turned around to find out what Raya had come back for. Maybe something was left behind. However, all those thoughts quickly disappeared. His eyes widened when he saw who it was.
Arkan clenched his fists and his molars clenched tightly. His eyes seemed to be hot holding something emotional wanting to explode from his chest. The woman he missed was real before his eyes.
"You... a woman who has no feelings."
Lunar took a step back, then quickly left there. Unfortunately, her arm was pulled back so she couldn't go anywhere. This is not a dream. They meet again after a long time.
"How could you leave after reappearing in front of me?"
Arkan hugged her tightly. How he missed their embrace so much. He had always clung to the hope that one day they would meet, but fate always played tricks. Every day he clung to that tiny hope.
"I miss you, Lunar. Miss you so much."
The hug grew tighter, but Lunar stood stiff without a sound. She didn't know what to say in that situation. Earlier she had just returned from the airport, and then thought to visit the apartment before going home. It was unexpected that she would meet Arkan.
Moreover, what was Arkan doing in the apartment? Hadn't they agreed that the apartment would be her? Seeing the condition of the apartment which seemed to be still being lived in, she thought that maybe all this time Arkan was still living in the apartment.
"Arkan, you haven't forgotten about our agreement regarding this apartment, have you?"
Arkan nodding his head. How could he forget about the time they had together?
"I still do. I still remember it. Everything in here is yours. You can have it."
