Great Reason To Go Out With
Arkan could not believe what he heard. Secretary Ham liked Raya long before their relationship finally ran aground. He still thought that everything was just a dream. How could it be?
"It's fine if you want to beat me up for liking your lover, but that's the reality. I love her."
"If you told me when I was still in a relationship with Raya, maybe I would beat you up. Now it's different, I've chosen Lunar as a life partner. If I beat you, then I just look like I still like her."
"You're not going to beat me up?"
"I've said it. Our relationship has long since ended. Compared to the past, it's better for us to think about the future. Raya shouldn't be tied to me anymore and I don't have the right to forbid her from wanting to be close to anyone. It's just that I didn't expect you to like her. I think I'm too stupid, because I do not know about it. You kept it really well."
"You've been through a lot of things. I'm quite angry seeing you repeatedly make her cry, but on the other hand I feel happy because I can accompany her in times like that. I just want her to be happy and smile."
Arkan nodded his head, observing the seriousness of those words. "I also didn't know things would turn out like this. Raya has been with me for so long and I feel guilty for hurting her, but if it continues wouldn't it be more painful for her?
I don't want to repeat the same thing a second time. If I choose Raya over Lunar, won't she feel bad when she confronts me? I love Raya as a person I have to protect, like a family or a relative. By the way, does Raya know about this?"
"No, I haven't dared to say it yet."
"Why don't you say it? I've been separated from her for a long time, your chances are wide open since then. You have to say it so that your relationship has clarity."
"It's not as easy as you say. She still can't get over you. How can I enter when there is someone else in her heart? In fact, her eyes still often look sad because she still thinks about you."
"I've tried my best not to give her hope, but I admit that it's not easy for her either. It's all my fault, for suddenly leaving her and going with Lunar."
Secretary Ham didn't speak anymore, only focused on thinking about Raya. He didn't know how to respond to his feelings, the belief grew even more not to destroy Raya's quiet period after going through a broken heart. What's more, he didn't want to be hated by that woman. Raya could have asked him to stay away, for him it was so scary.
"Even though I'm no longer in a relationship with Raya, we are still friends. I don't want her to live with random men, let alone not fight for her. So, if one day you are right with her, always remember what I said."
Secretary Ham's cheeks immediately flushed red, imagining that he would be with Raya was something he had never thought of. How could he possibly reach that woman?
"M—me? How could that be, Sir Arkan. There is nothing to be proud of me. Unlike her who is very popular, beautiful, kind and has positive energy. That sounds impossible."
Arkan smiled. "You really like Raya, huh?"
"I really like her, but I'm not sure that we will ever be in a relationship more than this. Just being beside her like this already makes me feel very lucky and I don't want to lose that place."
"What are you saying? Raya is not one who looks at someone's outward appearance. You just need to make her comfortable and understand what she needs."
"Haven't I been doing this all along?"
Arkan thought for a moment, then said, "It's true that I never got a request from her to keep you away when I asked for your help to be by her side, but at that time she only knew that she liked me so you didn't appear in her eyes. Therefore, I hope you tell me about your feelings so that she doesn't only see you as a secretary. Even though she might startle and throw things at you, but at least you're one step ahead."
"I am not sure."
"You should try it, at least be sure of her feelings for you. Then, I'm leaving now. You have to come to the company tomorrow or I will really fire you."
Arkan let out a long breath. "Lots of work piled up. You have to finish it if you want to meet Raya."
"Thank you, Sir Arkan."
"What for?"
"For letting me like her."
"Don't forget about what I said. You can't hurt her like I did. If you really like her, surely you will protect her, right?"
Their conversation ended there, while Arkan had left. Secretary Ham thought for a moment, considering whether he should say it or not? To be honest, he still doesn't have the courage for it.
The ringing of the cellphone distracts Secretary Ham, seeing Raya's name makes him jump. He was so nervous to pick up the call. After talking to Arkan earlier, it made him even more nervous and his heart was beating erratically.
The call died, Secretary Ham immediately pensive. What is wrong? Why did Raya turn off the phone line? Now he was curious, what made her contact him?
After waiting for some time, Secretary Ham still has not been contacted back. He was getting more and more curious to death, what did Raya really want to tell him?
Letting go of all anxiety, Secretary Ham also ventured to contact Raya. He breathed slowly, not wanting his nervousness to be felt by Raya.
"Hello, Secretary Ham?"
"H-hello, Miss Ra-raya? Y-you called me earlier. Wh-why?"
"Ah, I pressed the wrong button. Sorry, Secretary Ham!"
Secretary Ham had high hopes, but what did he hear? Raya accidentally called him, because she pressed the wrong button?
"So it seems."
"Well then, welcome back to your activities, Secretary Ham! Sorry for disturbing your time."
"W-wait!"
"Yes?"
"Look, I ..." Secretary Ham held back a nervousness, trying to muster all the courage.
"What's wrong, Secretary Ham? Is there something you want to tell me?"
"What are you doing tonight?" asked Secretary Ham at last.
Secretary Ham is like a war for the world, no one knows that he has risked his life just to ask a woman to go with him.
"Tonight? Hmm, I guess I'll just be at home. What's wrong, Secretary Ham? You look like you want to ask me out tonight."
"That's right! I want to ask you out tonight."
Raya laughed awkwardly on the other side. "I don't think that my guess was right. So, you want to ask me out tonight?"
"Y—yes, are you willing?"
"I wonder how? Let's hear your reasons for asking me to go. If that's good enough, then I'll go, but if not I'm sorry I have to decline your invitation."
Secretary Ham got to the point where he didn't know how to hide his feelings. On the other hand, he knows that Raya will also reject him if she suddenly hears his feelings for that woman. What should he say as a reason to go with Raya?
