Go Before Regret
"Here are the financial reports of the last few months, Sir Arkan."
Arkan grabbed the dark blue folder, then opened the sheet inside. He rubbed his lips as he read the contents carefully. Not long after, he finished the business of reading, then he placed it on the table.
"Good work."
Lunar frowned, feeling strange because the report she gave was read so fast, even though it took her a long time to finish the report.
"Sir Arkan, did you actually read it?"
Arkan approached his wife. He leaned against the edge of the table and embraced Lunar's waist gently. "No need to be so formal with me when we're alone. Everyone knows you're my wife." He rested head on his wife's chest.
"All right, Arkan. Now let me go. I have to get back to work."
Arkan pouted angrily. He tilted his head without making them move away. "I have to see a client later. We can't have lunch together."
Lunar rubbed her husband's head slowly, letting out a long breath as if she couldn't do anything about spoiling Arkan.
"Does not matter. I will eat with the other employees."
Arkan turned to rub her stomach which was not flat anymore. He really can't wait for the birth of their baby. Although, he knew that it was still a long way from that day.
Lunar let out a short breath. She just shook her head at the sight of her husband who would not let go, instead she rubbed his hand over her stomach and it amused.
Secretary Ham arrives at an inopportune time. They immediately turned their heads towards the door. In fact, Secretary Ham is not alone, he comes with Raya.
Lunar was the one who felt the most awkward in that situation. She has taken on an important person in Raya's life, moreover making the wedding plans that should have been held cancelled. If she didn't insist on staying by Arkan's side, all this hassle wouldn't have happened. The guilt never faded.
Secretary Ham is at a loss as to how to salvage the situation. Raya must be feeling very sad right now to see the intimacy of the husband and wife. He wanted to close the door, but he was knocked out with one push.
On the other hand, Lunar tried to escape from her husband's snares, but Arkan refused. They stood side by side with an unchanged position.
Raya looked displeased to see Arkan and Lunar's intimacy. She also understood the situation and knew that her hopes would only be in vain, so she had prepared herself before coming.
"Could you make room for us to talk for a moment?"
"Okay," Lunar said.
"Not Lunar, but Arkan."
Lunar was shocked, and so was Arkan. They didn't think that Raya would look for Lunar instead of Arkan.
"What do you want to talk to Lunar about?" asked Arkan.
"No need to worry about anything. We just want to talk about light things," Raya said as if she knew what the two people were worried about.
Arkan glanced at his watch for a moment. He had to go to meet clients, but was it a good decision to let Lunar stay with the woman he was in a relationship with?
Arkan looked at his wife who looked nervous. "You don't have to talk to Raya if you don't want to."
Lunar reassured herself. "It's okay. I also need to talk to Raya after what we've been through."
Arkan nodded his head. "Don't put pressure on yourself. Your health and that of the baby in your womb is most important."
"Okay."
Arkan stroked his wife's belly, gave a kiss there, then gave Lunar one kiss on the forehead. "Well then, see you later."
Seeing the intimacy in front of her, Raya just rolled her eyes. In fact, she had never received such affectionate treatment. They both are a couple who are already crazy about each other.
In the end, only Lunar and Raya were left now. They decided to sit on the sofa. Not knowing what light things they would discuss, but Lunar felt uncomfortable being watched all the time since just now.
"Which side made Arkan like you so much?"
Lunar immediately raised her gaze. She didn't understand what Raya meant by saying that. What does this woman really want?
Raya lapsed her right leg, folded her arms across her chest. She was still paying attention to Lunar's appearance which she thought was normal. Was she not pretty enough that she had to be dumped after a long wait? It felt really unfair to her if Arkan chose an ordinary woman over her.
"This makes me very depressed!" Raya annoyed while clenching her fists.
Lunar who saw the anger felt even more depressed. "I'm sorry, Raya. I-I'm guilty for taking Arkan from you."
Raya let out a shaky breath. "You guys love each other. How can you say you took it from me? that man who betrayed me and we are the victims."
"Still, if it wasn't for me, you two would already be living happily."
Raya did not dispute the words, but according to her everything had happened. Maybe this is the line of fate that she has to accept. Their relationship is not that strong to survive.
"Forget about that. I heard that you were also in a desperate situation. I will only remember Arkan's betrayal. A broken marriage isn't something that can be forgotten overnight. Whereas, he loved me a lot before and acted as if I was the only one in his life."
Raya chuckled. "It turns out that the man is the same. You live happily. Don't let him get close to any woman. I don't want any other Raya to get hurt. I'm leaving, I just came to tell you that," she said, then stood up.
Lunar stood up too, immediately said, "Thank you, Raya."
"For my humility, for giving Arkan to you?"
Lunar shook her head. "No, I took it."
Raya smiled crookedly. "So, you admit it?"
"We can't avoid the facts. It doesn't matter, if you think of me as such a woman, being hated by you is a fitting punishment for me."
"Fine. I'll hate you until I'm satisfied."
Lunar smiled, so did Raya. They shook hands before Raya left the room.
Raya was a bit surprised to find Arkan when she left the room. It turned out that the man overheard her conversation with Lunar. Raya felt that they didn't have anything to talk about, so she decided to leave without saying anything.
Arkan caught up with Raya, because he thought he should do just that. He realized that his attitude was not good after they broke off the relationship. After all, they have spent time together and it is better if the separation is done peacefully so that no one's heart will be hurt in the future.
"Why follow me?"
"I want to apologize to you."
"Okay."
"Just okay?"
"Really, what do you want me to say?"
"At least, smile so your sincerity can be seen."
"You think I can smile at a time like this?"
"I sincerely apologize to you."
Raya steps stopped. She turned around, saw Arkan standing about one and a half meters in front of. By this time they had almost reached the parking area, so the sound of activity going on outside made it not so peaceful.
"My disappointment in you is irreversible, but I also know that continuing to think about it will have a bad influence on my future. After breaking up with you, I cried a lot and it hurt a lot. One time I thought, am I going to stay like this, while you are happy with another woman? How stupid of me, thinking only of you."
"You're wrong, I also think about you and every day feel guilty for my decision. I know that you really look forward to our wedding, but I selfishly canceled it and went with Lunar. That's an unforgivable mistake. But, I still want to apologize to you as an expression of my regret for betraying our relationship."
Raya massages her head, a little dizzy thinking about Arkan. "Alright, let's forget about this. I've been trying hard not to look weak in front of you."
Arkan smiled with drooping eyebrows. "We can still be friends, right? As we have been friends since childhood, I don't want to forget our time together and want to continue it with you."
"As a friend?"
"As a friend."
Raya held out her little finger. "Let's make a promise like childhood."
Arkan ties Raya's finger with his pinkie, that way the problem between them is over. At that moment, Raya's attention turned to another man who was back there. Occasionally looking down, glancing at them from time to time.
Arkan realized the direction of the gaze, then said, "I heard the news about your closeness."
"You also fell for the fake news?"
"I don't think it's completely fake."
Raya frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Secretary Ham doesn't want to say it yet, because he thinks too much. I see him getting annoyed myself. So, I'll just tell you right away. Secretary Ham says he likes you. You should consider a man like him, because he doesn't look like he's messing with you."
Arkan climbed into the car, waiting for his secretary to follow so they could immediately go to the meeting place with the client. Before that, he wanted to give Raya and Secretary Ham some time to talk.
Secretary Ham approaches Raya as she thinks it would be unethical to just walk away. They also didn't only interact once and he wanted to apologize about the news that was circulating.
"Sorry for what happened. This is about the news," said Secretary Ham.
"I—I'll go now."
Just as Secretary Ham was about to leave, Raya immediately said, "Abraham."
"Yes?"
"Would you like some grilled meat?" Raya asked hesitantly.
Secretary Ham looked confused at first, then he glanced at Arkan in the car looking at them. He couldn't fulfill Raya's wish, because he had to go with Arkan.
"Just go."
Arkan heard what was said earlier, because he deliberately left the car window open. He doesn't know why he's involved in someone's love affair. However, he was quite annoyed with Raya and Secretary Ham who had not been able to confirm their feelings.
"But, what about you?"
"I can still meet them without you. Go, before you regret it."
Raya didn't know what Arkan was talking about, but one thing she did know was that she was waiting for Secretary Ham's answer to her invitation. Will she be rejected? The thought of it made her throb.
"Then, I will go with Miss Raya. Have a nice trip, Sir Arkan."
Secretary Ham lowered his head, then without thinking took Raya's hand. He opened the door for Raya who was still shocked by the situation, only then did he take his place in the driver's seat.
Raya chuckled, seeing Secretary Ham's expression which she had not noticed earlier. "Are you that happy just to grilled meat?"
"I'm glad I'm going with you." Secretary Ham accidentally spoke his heart out. "Hmm, I mean...."
"I'm happy too, for going with you."
Secretary Ham flushed red, then with overflowing enthusiasm drove the car.
Meanwhile, Arkan becomes an abandoned person. Seeing Secretary Ham and Raya's sweet relationship made him remember Lunar. He took out his cell phone and called his wife.
"Hello, Lunar?"
"Arkan? Why contact me? Is something going on?"
"Yes, something is happening."
"Really? Was it something bad?"
"Very bad."
"Then I must catch up with you."
"It doesn't have to come to that."
"So, what happened?"
"I only miss you."
"Oh, my! You made me so worried, but it turns out you just missed me."
"Just missed? It was the most urgent thing in my life!"
