HYBRID TIMBER 36
A week later
Eva read the last sentence of a book that had started six hours ago, the exact moment Timber left for a mission. They'd been there for a few days and she'd spent the time reading and organizing the decor for the house they'd be living in after he'd been working on the task force base for a month. Time stipulated by the hybrid council.
She understood that it was punishment for Timber's actions and she felt guilty, after all he did what he did for her. If he sneaked out without an escort and without OOH's knowledge, with just his backup friends and putting them all at risk to see if she was pregnant with him, it was her fault.
If he broke into a church and shot up several times with a gun that could have hit someone, it was to rescue her, the bad publicity it brought, fake news, it was his fault and even if Timber did everything to make her not think so, she still felt guilty.
Eva looked around the small bedroom that contained their double bed and a cupboard tucked away in the corner containing some of her most useful belongings and got up, it was almost time for Timber to return so she would take a shower and wait for him, to jump into his arms because I missed him so much.
He was always worried about her alone there, but he knew it was safe and when he returned from work, he gave her all the attention in the world. She brought snacks and they talked about everything, when they weren't making love and watching a movie.
Eva walked into the bathroom and a wave of nausea hit her, her legs felt weak and she emptied her stomach into the toilet, once and twice. It was the third time that week, but he didn't mention it to Timber because he was pretty sure it was some cheddar fries he'd eaten. But that day, she wasn't just nauseous, she was dizzy too.
A new hypothesis arose in her mind, but she discarded it immediately, she was sure she couldn't be pregnant and was planning to look for the Hybrids' doctor to start a treatment as soon as they returned. Before going to task force headquarters, she visited Victoria and fell in love with her babies, and it would be her biggest dream come true if she could have that with Timber too.
When she felt better, she got up from the floor, flushed the toilet, brushed her teeth and went to the bathroom, at the same moment a new vertigo took over her body and she slipped on the shower floor with her eyes darkening.
Timber was in the hall walking to his room, anxious to find his mate, smell her that was changing, leaving him more addicted every second, more driven to be glued to her, it was sweeter and softer than it already was, Timber he suspected that she was starting to go into heat and because she was his true companion, the scent must be a little different from that of the other females in this period, as he had already smelled it many times and Eva's was simply inexplicable, it made him more possessive, protective and addicted to her, as if he wasn't already before.
Timber couldn't explain it, but it felt so good it hurt.
He was opening the door when he heard a noise inside the bathroom that sounded a lot like the sound of a body hitting the floor, his body went on alert and his instincts had him running like lightning, his mind somehow knowing it was his. lifemate.
When he walked into the small room, he snarled seeing Eve lying down, the shower running and she was naked.
"Eve!" — he growled in despair as he took her in his arms and felt her skin very hot.
He left the bathroom, sat on the bed with her in his arms and held her face.
"Eve, love!" Timber called, his voice shaky, he'd never felt so terrified.
He checked her pulse and her heartbeat was normal, her breathing was normal, but she was unconscious—Eva, open your eyes darling. - begged.
When she didn't, he pulled a sheet and covered her body, then got up and started to leave the room to take her to a doctor, however she stirred, clinging to him like a reflex that was still falling.
— Timber. she mumbled his name.
- I am here. What are you feeling? Talk to me. I'm taking you to see a doctor. You are burning!
She squirmed in his arms.
- I need to go to the bathroom. Timber wouldn't let go of her, so she clapped a hand over her mouth. "I'm going to be sick."
Timber begrudgingly lowered her to the floor, but continued to hold her arm into the bathroom, opened the toilet seat, and she quickly threw up again.
Timber gently held her until she was finished. He growled, stroking her hair.
"How many times has this happened?" he questioned and she didn't want to omit anything.
- Some.
- Since when?
- Two days ago. He shook his head with tears in his eyes.
Timber felt miserable seeing her like that and took her back in his arms. Worry consuming him so much that his mind was in a panic.
“I'll dress you up and we'll return to HybridFalls.
"And your work here?"
“I can conclude later or fuck it, punish me otherwise, you're sick and I have to take you to the good OOH doctors. You are my companion, my priority.
Eva didn't argue as she was feeling really bad. She helped Timber get her dressed and went into the bathroom to brush her teeth again, her mate came up behind her and took the toothbrush from her hand and brushed for her. Eva was thrilled with all the care and simply allowed herself to be cared for by him.
When he was finished, he took it and left the room, stepping into the elevator again. He got out on the next level and led her to Tim's office door, knocking on the door to let him in.
The door opened and Brenner appeared with a glass of whiskey in his hand.
“I'm heading back to HybridFalls. I need the helicopter to get there faster. My partner is sick and needs to be treated by our doctors.
Brenner Smith blinked dazedly.
"What is she feeling?" the man asked and Timber growled.
— Are you doubting? SHE HAS VERY HOT BODY TEMPERATURE! — the male altered.
- No, no. But she can see our doctor here.
“A doctor for males who get shot and hurt on missions. She needs special treatment from Dr.
Mandy, Alisson or Dr. Harvey. — he was trying to remain calm.
- That's right. I'll arrange the helicopter. Does she need first aid? Brenner picked up his cell phone and dialed something.
“No, I just threw up a few times and passed out. Eve replied.
- This is not good. Brenner said.
“She could have been badly hurt when she fell and I wasn't there. Timber growled.
- Everything is fine. She soothed, gently stroking his arm.
When everything was ready, they got into the helicopter and a few minutes later they were landing in HíbridoFalls . Eva didn't feel sick while they were in the air, Timber kept her cradled in his arms, but when they landed, she had to throw up again. Timber was worried sick, his female was getting pale and weak. The way to the medical center was quick and soon Eva was being attended by Dr. Mandy Norbit.
- Hello. I'm Dr. Mandy . I believe we have not been introduced. What are you feeling? The nice woman looked worried.
— I'm Eva, I've thrown up a few times today and during the week. he explained.
“And I found her unconscious on the bathroom floor today. - Timber completed.
Mandy nodded, seeming to have come to some conclusion with just that information.
- Right. Timber, help her lie down here. The woman pointed to the bed near some medical devices.
He grabbed her before she could move and placed her on the bed. He adjusted her like she was a baby.
“I'm going to do an ultrasound of your abdominal area to see which tests are safe to run on you. Eva and Timber nodded.
She turned on the machine, lifted Eva's blouse, rubbed some gel on her stomach, and began running a section of the machine over her abdomen. A minute passed and Timber was impatient.
"Please doc, what's wrong with her?" - questioned the distressed male.
And suddenly, an expression of relief came over Mandy's face.
"May I take it you're all right with me?" Eva questioned.
“Yes, it is. It's a good thing actually. And I have to say, you'll feel it for weeks. The doctor smiled as she pressed a button on the machine and turned the screen so that Timber and Eva could view the transmitted content.
Eva looked at Mandy, trying to understand what she was seeing, then in shock, she turned her face and looked at Timber.
But he didn't look back at her. He was staring at the screen with his mouth open and his eyes wide. Timber had never seen it up close but he knew what an ultrasound of a pregnant woman looked like, some friends who had puppies showed it to him even though he didn't see anything, he knew what it meant.
She squeezed his arm. The male was pale.
“Is that what I'm thinking? he asked in a low voice.
He didn't seem to hear her, his focus completely on the screen. She turned her head to look again. Small tapping sounds filled the room.
"Jesus, is this…" Eva gasped.
- Heart beats. You will have a baby. “That's what's causing the nausea and fainting,” Mandy said. It is very common with pregnancy.
Tears blinded her. His mouth opened and closed several times.
Was she pregnant?
