PROLOGUE
- What you are doing? - Abigail asked her brother, with a confused face - You said we were going to have lunch together.
From inside the car Abigail looked around at the deserted place with no sign of a restaurant or any buildings.
"How many times are you going to have to break your teeth to learn not to be so naive, Abbie?" It's very easy to manipulate you. He chuckled as he stopped the vehicle.
- I don't understand. What are you talking about, Adam? The anguish made her heart start to race.
A bad feeling seized her.
“I brought you back to your owner. Shock coursed through the girl's nervous system.
“Why would you do this to me? — Hot tears threatened to fall, but she tried to be strong holding them back — You're the one who helped me run away from him!
“I love you little sister, but I love myself more and he offered me a lot of money for you. When I helped you escape, I gained your trust, the same trust I used now to bring you back. I hope one day you'll forgive me, but I need that money to gamble.
"You fucking game addict!" The pain of betrayal that spread through her chest almost choked her.
She tried to pull the car lock to open the door, however it was locked.
"Let me out!" I don't want that bastard to get his hands on me, he's going to punish me for getting away the first time! — Abbie felt panicked when a helicopter began to fly over the area.
“Stop trying to escape your destiny. The father sold it to him and he is not happy about having to pay another sum to get back what already belongs to him. The coldness in her brother's voice, her own blood, made Abigail want to throw up.
The pain of betrayal was almost too much for her to hold back the tears any longer. She had learned to mask her facial expressions with the devil himself wanting her back. He knew how to get her to punish her when her face showed what she liked, what she was afraid of, what made her sad and happy. Abbie had to learn not to give him that ace up his sleeve forever.
The helicopter landed, her heart pounding inside her chest to the point of pain, her fragile body no longer able to hold back the tears as her worst nightmare descended from the aircraft.
She saw him, her spine froze.
Markus was hurrying towards her, a frown making his not-so-pleasant features even worse. He was slimmer at his five foot seven, the man paused for a second before reaching the car door to answer a phone call, one of his hands coming up to run over his bald head.
"Please, Adam?" Don't let him take me. I beg. Hot tears ran down the poor girl's delicate face.
- I'm sorry. There's no turning back.
"He wanted to abuse me!" He hurt me. How could you be able to?! As? Because? His body shook and his hands violently slammed into the brother's body beside him.
She tried with all her strength to hurt him and make him feel one percent of her pain, even though she knew he would never feel it because her pain was in her soul.
"Stop, Abbie!" It's done. When the time comes you will get out of the car and go to Markus. Adam's voice was hard and angry.
"Selfish son of a bitch!" You're going to pay me dearly for this you idiot. I swear. Her voice was crushed with sadness.
A tap on the car window caught her attention, Markus was there smiling in triumph before hatred took over his gaze, a terrible chill crept up her spine, memories of everything he had done to her started to wake up vividly in her mind.
Adam unlocked the door and walked out before her, closing it with her still inside.
— Before you take it, transfer the rest of the payment to my account immediately.
“I won't do that and you're going to give it to me right now. What I already paid is enough considering that you who helped her escape from me, I should kill you, however I'd rather see you turn into a miserable game addict who will be hunted by others like you after you lose everything you have. Open the car.
Abigail heard part of the conversation but soon her ears seemed to be numb to any sound. She was being treated like a commodity again and it hurt like hell. First her father sold her when she was seventeen and she was forced to live captive with Markus for two years, her brother Adam for some reason helped her escape and now he has returned her for another amount of money.
She wondered what she had done wrong to deserve such disgrace.
However, I needed to think of a way to escape before I was put inside the damn helicopter. Maybe God was on her side this time when she looked at the ignition and Adam had left the keys there.
It sounded too good to be true but she dismissed the idea of a trap since everyone always underestimated her, either for her fragile physical strength or for her intelligence that never got recognition, since no one cared about her opinions.
They always labeled her as weak, useless and stupid. But now they would see that no one else would lay hands on her against her will.
With no time to lose, the girl jumped into the driver's seat and turned the keys, the engine rumbled and Markus along with Adam shot her a surprised look. Her cheeks turned pale as she immediately started the engine, accelerating as hard as she could.
Looking in the rearview mirror, she saw the two desperate men running towards the helicopter when another idea came to her mind. It might not kill them, but it would hurt them and the laggards if they followed her, which they likely would.
Abbie put reverse in gear and backed up as fast as she went forward, hitting two bodies and then going forward making sure one of them ran over her.
"No one will ever lay hands on me against my will again!" she swore.
