HYBRID HOOK 33
Hook was already at the medical center when Abbie arrived accompanied by Blade and Megan. He didn't wait a second before moving towards her with a frown on his face, he didn't meet her eyes but instead knelt in front of her and held her waist.
"Can I come closer now?" he asked quietly.
- Clear. - she answered.
Abbie's heart was pounding and she was confused, but soon she felt her eyes water as she saw Hook lifting her shirt and stroking her stomach with his cheek. He sniffed and purred for several seconds with his head nestled in her belly.
- My son. he whispered. "I can already smell it."
He looked up at Abbie and she saw in the deep green irises a sadness that crushed her heart. Hated seeing tears there too.
“I've missed you so much. - he said - Hi baby, I'm your father. — he said and kissed her belly — Is he the one who can already hear?
— I don't know, but I also talk to him. he replied with a small smile, and Hook kissed his belly again.
Abbie closed her eyes, trying to hide the way she reacted to the touch of his lips on her skin. He stayed there for some time, stroking her belly and smelling.
- Are ready? — Dr. Alison appeared — Oh, I'm sorry. he lamented when he saw what was happening.
- We are ready. Hook said hoarsely and rose from the ground.
It bothered Abbie that he hadn't looked at her much, he was starting to get pretty emotional the last couple of days, and he seemed starved for attention when he didn't get much.
They entered the room and Abbie tried to climb onto the exam bed but it was too high so Hook promptly helped her, she looked at him and smiled in thanks.
The doctor put a gel on her belly and then put the device on, small strong beats filled the room.
- Oh God. - Abbie whispered with tears in her eyes feeling her heart full of love.
Hook took her hand and kissed the top of her head, she lifted her chin to look at him and he was thrilled too.
— You are two weeks old and the baby is already starting to form. Your pregnancy will be twenty weeks, you have the option to choose the type of delivery you want. Apparently everything is fine, can you hear those heartbeats? The doctor smiled.
"Am I still a risk to them, Doctor?" Hook asked but he didn't sound angry.
“You were never a risk, Hook. Abbie said, not liking how that sounded at all. He wasn't a monster.
“You were making Abbie mad and she needed reassurance. But she told me that her discomfort was hunger and she was really almost anemic, the baby will suck a lot of her energy, especially now. Need to feed even better.
— Yes, I'm being very careful with vitamins and food.
“You can't be pushing yourself too hard. Have you been doing this?
“Well, sometimes I clean the bathroom and kitchen, Blade cleans the rest for Megan. I like to clean, it helps pass the time, sometimes nothing good is on TV all day.
— But you have to be careful with the kind of thing you do, the ways you pick up some heavier things and how you drag others, you also have to be careful with the slippery floor. the medic said and Hook growled.
“I want to take care of you and do all that. he growled.
— I don't feel anything, no discomfort, you can rest assured.
- For a while. Take care. Our body was not designed to generate a twenty-week pregnancy, it is a lot of pressure on our organism. The utmost care is little.
“I'm having it, I promise. I would never want to harm my baby.
— I'm going to take care of you or bring you back to my house, I don't care if you agree or not, it's done. You may not want to talk to me but I promise I won't make you nervous, one of our hybrid females is majoring in psychology, I'm visiting her and learning to be more patient and control my temper.
Suddenly Abbie felt a sharp stab of jealousy hurt her chest and she hated the feeling. Hook was visiting a hybrid female for therapy sessions, what if he became interested in the female and gave her up? She started to feel insecure too, she was a human being and having those kinds of feelings was normal, however she wouldn't let it show.
'You need company, Abbie, and it looks like Megan isn't quite up to speed yet to help you.'
“And even if she was, she only has time for Blade right now. Abby smiled.
— From here I'll take you to my house, then we'll look for your things. I can already smell my son, I want to follow his every evolution. Imagine when he starts kicking and I'm not there to feel it? And if you feel like eating something different? I've researched and read that pregnant women have cravings. I want to be there for it.
- He is well. - Abbie spoke emotionally.
She didn't want to argue and the time away from Hook had made her aware that she hated being away from him and they could only be together as parents to the unborn child.
Later that day, Abbie was back at Hook's apartment, Megan had gone with Blade to the other apartment, and she had some idea what they were going to do there.
She was alone because Hook had gone to get her clothes so she could shower. There was a silly movie on TV and she was watching it just to relieve her boredom.
The apartment door opened and Hook entered.
“Your clothes will be on the dresser.
— Thanks — she got up — I'll put them away, a drawer should do.
"I'll order your lunch." - he said walking to the room and she followed.
"Aren't you having lunch too?"
“Yes, but not here.
- Why? Where are you going to lunch?
— At the bar, usually at lunchtime it's quieter and my conversations with Blue are taking place there.
“Blue is your therapist?”
- Yea.
"And what do they talk about?"
“Lots of things, she's helping me.
"You let her help you and not me?" Before Hook could say anything she added, “Oh, I forgot, she's a hybrid and I'm human.
— Abbie...
"Are you interested in her?"
- Which?! Not.
Abbie's stomach clenched at the realization that this Blue was a hybrid and it could be that Hook trusted her with her past, so they would be bonded and he would stay with her. Abbie fought back the tears that filled her eyes, but she refused to cry in front of him. I was jealous, I was already realizing in the last two days that I was sensitive when I cried watching some movies, but now I was sure.
She began to fold her clothes on the dresser and Hook went into the bathroom, a few minutes later he emerged wrapped in a towel displaying the perfection of ripped abs and strong arms. Abbie swallowed hard.
Her eyes widened when Hook started to change in front of her, she tried to hide it but couldn't not look at her naked body and memories of what he was capable of started to cross her mind. Images too that he could do everything he did to her to Blue made her stomach churn.
- Damn it. — she left the bedroom and went to the living room, sat on the couch and hugged her legs.
She hated being so jealous over nothing, but she felt insecure and couldn't control it. She had asked for time away from him, what if in that time he had lost interest? He lay down on the balled-up sofa and bit his lip to control the urge to pepper Hook with questions. Her heart was racing and she started to feel angry with herself for exaggerating her feelings, but she was pregnant and starting to have different hormones.
Hook came back into the room and saw Abbie in that position, he was wearing a white shirt and black jeans, his hair was loose and wet. He frowned and worry welled up in him, he crouched down in front of the sofa and lifted her chin with the tip of his finger to face her.
"What is it, Abbie?" Are you feeling something? You're hungry aren't you? The food should have arrived by now.
Abbie felt more like crying and was close to not being able to hold it any longer. She had no right to be jealous but she was and she didn't want to be an asshole by questioning Hook.
“Abbie. Talk to me. — He stroked her hair — Your eyes are red. Are you wanting to cry? Are you in pain?
Abbie couldn't contain it any longer and tears slipped from her eyes.
“Are you having something with this Blue girl?” she questioned not caring if she was being stupid.
— She is helping me to be more patient and to control my anger. Because? You're crying... What are you feeling?
- She is beautiful?
"Yes, but what does that have to do with it?"
- Anything. Leave it there. I'm being an idiot. Sorry. She sniffed sitting up.
“Please, I'm worried. Why are you crying? I'll call the doctor.
- No. It is not necessary. It's just... damn it, Hook. I'm jealous of this woman.
He widened his eyes in surprise and then smiled slightly.
"Why did I say she's pretty?" You are more. You are the most beautiful female in all of HybridFalls and the world. - He smiled - Well my friend Tyger told me that human females are jealous.
Her heart melted.
“Look who's talking, hybrid males go to jealous extremes.
“I only have eyes for you, Abbie. And I'm going to these sessions with Blue to learn how to understand you, not to hurt you with words, be patient, learn to express myself better and not let my past affect me anymore.
- Same? —she was simply surprised and thrilled.
- Yea. I was just hoping I wasn't a risk to you and our son anymore. Later we'll talk and I hope that afterwards you can look at me in the same way.
- Hug me? she asked with her heart racing in her chest.
- Everything you want.
So he hugged her and at that moment they were sure that was exactly how they should be. Together.
