Chapter 19
Unknown POV
The hunter smiled as his mission was finally successful. He had waited for months to avenge his brother's death and he was glad he could finally do it. The only regret he had was because he could've stopped his brother from attacking Adonis alone.
His Hunter's pack has been on Adonis trail for a while and his brother had stubbornly followed it even when he knew he shouldn't have and in the process, he lost his life.
Matthew moved closer to Adonis and hit him by his face. He knew he had rendered the vampire powerless. He also knew Adonis could kill him once he regained his consciousness.
He picked up the bag that was with him and brought out a stake. He was ready to pierce the Vampire's heart with it and watch him turn to ashes. He had waited so long to do this, for the glory of his family.
He couldn't wait for that smile on his father's face when he informed him that he had killed a vampire off the surface of the earth. He knew he'll pay his shoulder and told him he had made him proud.
The thoughts alone brought a huge smile on Matthew's face and no! He couldn't wait. He had waited over thirty years, he wouldn't waste a minute.
As he raised off his stake, ready to attack the defenseless creature, the door suddenly opened and two huge vampires walked in.
Marco and the vampire King were already transformed into the evil creature that they were. Their fangs were out, revealing their glory to the shocked man. With their protruding ears and red eyes, Matthew knew there was no way he'd survive what was about to happen.
The vampire King quickly attended to both Bella and Adonis while Marco faced the Hunter.
Matthew decided to try his luck, he prepared to make a run for it. Marco grabbed him by his hair and punched him in the face, making him fall back into a table. He tried standing up to fight back but Marco was already behind him. It was hopeless to fight against a vampire. He dropped another hit on his face and watched him fall.
Bending down to his level, Marco punched him the second, third until Marco himself lost count. He was angry and he was glad the person who caused his anger is at the receiving end of it.
Matthew laid lifeless on the floor, breathing heavily as the impact of the beating he'd taken showed on him. He knew if the two vampires had wanted to kill him, that would've happened the moment they walked in.
"You wouldn't possibly kill me here, right?" Matthew teased.
"No, but I'll do it later," Marco answered. He pulled him up and brought him out of the hospital room.
Two other men were waiting.
"Take him to the forest and make sure you do the needful" the men bowed before walking out of the building, dragging Matthew with them without a second thought.
Marco walked back into the hospital room and saw the vampire King already reviving Adonis.
"When will he be conscious?" Marco asked, already worried for his brother.
"Soon enough. Adonis is not the major concern here, she is" he said, pointing to Bella.
Marco walked up to the bed and touched her neck to check if she was still breathing.
"She's still alive but not for long," Marco stated hurriedly.
"I think we should….."
Marco interrupted before his king finished his words.
"We can't turn her without Adonis' permission or even without her consent," Marco corrected.
"There's nothing we can do other than that. If she dies, Adonis will go rabid and fuck her consent, are we supposed to ask her while she's like that?"
"And if we do it, Adonis will kill you for turning his Emerthus without his consent"
"I guess that'll be the punishment for my sins. Adonis will lose his mind if he loses her the second time. Look at me and tell me if you can afford to have Adonis live his life like I do" the king asked and Marco couldn't give the right answer.
"You'll do it," Marco suggested, trying to bring himself out of the awkward situation.
"I can't Marco. You know I can't turn a fly not to talk of a human,"
"I can't," Marco replied, holding his head in his hands.
"Time is not on her side, Marco. Do it!"
"I will not turn her,"
The Vampire King grabbed Marco by his collar. "You will turn her. You will not let her die that way, Marco. You will turn her into one of us. That's the price you have to pay for the sake of brotherhood. Please"
Marco ran his hand through his head in frustration. He wasn't sure about this decision that he was about to make but still, he had to do it.
Marco moved closer to the bed and raised Bella's head.
"We can't do this here," Marco yelled.
"Yes, we can. I own this hospital. I'm in charge here, Marco"
He nodded. He bent his head to Bella's neck, revealed his fangs, and bit her so deep into her neck to be able to turn her.
The changing process is like gambling. It could change her or it could kill her. That is for them to find out after a few days. Marco pushed back this thought and focused on reaching her Vena Cava, the superior neck vein that carries blood to the heart and lungs.
If he doesn't do it properly, she could die and it's been a long time since Marco changed anyone. When he was done, he gently placed her body back on the bed and walked into the bathroom.
Once he saw Bella's blood in his hands and mouth in the mirror, he felt different, he felt ashamed. He had betrayed his brother. He was sure Adonis would have killed to have that opportunity.
Still, he washed her blood off his hand, mouth, and neck before walking back into the room.
"Let's move them both back to the house," The vampire King suggested and Marco nodded. A blanket was removed from one of the sofas to wrap around Bella as they carried her out of the hospital.
The parking lot had been cleared for them in advance, so no one saw Marco carrying a body, nor was the Vampire King seen helping a partially unconscious man walking out of the hospital.
The drive to Marco's mansion at the outskirts of town was eerily silent. Marco had a lot on his mind and the Vampire King did too.
He had found out a truth that's as confusing and pleasing earlier that day and as conflicting as it was, he couldn't wait to have his life back even though the great responsibility about to be placed on his head was too much for someone who had previously spent his life in silence.
They got to the Mansion after an hour's drive and the two came out from the front seat to transport the other two into the room.
Marco opened the back door, he saw Adonis with his eyes wide open, looking at his Emerthus with swollen eyes.
"Who changed her?" Marco took a step back from Adonis before something could happen.
"We didn't have a choice, Adonis. The vampire hunter already shot her and she was dying. We're sorry,"
Adonis turned to look at Marco intensely. He knew the king couldn't have turned her, it wasn't possible.
"Thanks, Hermano. We owe you our life"
Just like that, Marco was free.
