Chapter 18
Adonis' POV
We got to the hospital and I had to wait outside as the doctors were attending to Bella. They said they needed to stitch her up and the moment I heard that, I felt like strangling the vampire hunter to death.
"Those losers knew we were coming. They left before we did," Marco stated.
"I don't think they were ever there. I didn't pick up any sound or smell" I added.
"Maybe they knew we were three,"
"Or maybe they have a different plan. They just wanted to scare you. That's what they do most of the time," The King added.
"But whatever it is, I hope they leave Bella out of their hatred," Marco said.
"Thanks for helping out today, Hermano. Your highness" I appreciated both of them.
"How can you be as composed as you are right now, Adonis? If I were you, I would've gone rabid" Marco declared.
"If I do that, who will take care of Bella? I'm angry, I'm mad but I don't have a choice than to keep being this settled. If not, it might end up affecting her" I explained and Marco placed his hand on my shoulder.
"We'll go in search of the necklace girl and get back here as soon as possible. Alright?"
I nodded.
Babe's POV
"I don't think I need to stay here for too long, Adonis. A day is okay"
After Adonis came to rescue me, he took us to the hospital immediately. Even though the doctor had checked and nothing was seriously found that was wrong with me, Adonis was adamant about making me stay for a week.
"You need to recuperate, Baby. I'm not letting you leave until you can walk on both legs" He added.
"I can walk! Do you want to see me do that?" I asked as I stood up from the bed.
He pressed me back into the bed and held my face in his hands.
"I don't want you to go home yet, I want you to stay here and recuperate"
"The doctors said I can go," I argued.
"I know he said so but I don't want you to" He replied.
I knew he was really worried about me and this stubbornness is just a defensive act.
"Adonis, I'm perfectly fine. This is just a little thing I can deal with" I added, pointing to my swollen face.
The doctors opened the door leading to the hospital room and walked in.
"Hello Miss," One of them greeted me and I smiled.
"This man right here requested for more than ten doctors to do a check-up, so, we apologize in advance if you feel uncomfortable with the process"
I turned to glare at Adonis and he shrugged his shoulders.
"Just one of you is okay," I suggested.
"He caused a scene at the reception. So, it'll be better if we consider his opinion as well" The doctor pointed to Adonis, waiting for him to talk.
Once I saw that Adonis wasn't saying anything, I put up a fight.
"If one doctor can't treat me, then I guess I don't need any doctor. I'll just remove this thing from my hand and walk out of here" I threatened.
"Bella," Adonis called out.
He tried holding my hand but I quickly dodged his hand.
"Do you even know how stressful it is to undergo treatment from one doctor not to talk of ten doctors? I'm supposed to be treated by ten doctors. Doesn't that sound insane to you?" I asked
"No! But since you're adamant about it, we'll work with one like you want, okay?"
Thank goodness.
"Okay! We'll work with me then," The doctor announced and every other doctor went out of the room.
"Thank you for that, Miss Bella," the doctor appreciated. I turned to see Adonis glaring at the poor man.
"How do you feel?" He asked again.
"Like I said the last time you came here, I'm fine. Just a little headache. The stitch on my head also hurts a little but I'm fine" I explained.
"That'll be because the drug given to you is wearing off but I believe you'll be fine in no time. I'll prescribe some painkillers that you can use, one of the nurses will bring them to you at intervals. So, don't worry about that"
He scribbled into his notebook.
"Can I leave today?" I asked.
"I'm afraid not but you can leave tomorrow. We need to monitor you and see if anything else is wrong. Once we confirm that you're fine by tomorrow, you can leave"
I frowned at his response.
"I told you that already, Bella," Adonis added and kissed my forehead.
"Thanks, Doc," Adonis and the doctor shared a handshake before he walked out of the room.
I closed my eyes to get some sleep since that was the only thing I could do. I could feel Adonis holding my hands tightly before sleep overshadowed me. I was pulled into the forest for dreams in no time.
When I opened my eyes again, the room was dark but I could see Adonis in the shadows. He was looking at me but he wasn't looking at me.
"Adonis," I called out. There was no response and fear gripped me.
"Adonis," I called out louder this time, and still, I received no response.
I stood up and touched his face through the dark. It was cold, I felt something cold against my hand. I turned on the lamp beside the bed and when I turned to look back at Adonis, I saw blood on his face.
I screamed loud enough to disturb the whole building.
The door suddenly opened, and when I thought it was a doctor or a nurse, it wasn't, it was the same man who kidnapped me.
It was Matthew!
"What are you doing here?" I yelled.
"What does it look like, Bella? I set my trap wisely and it finally caught a big animal. I'm just here for the harvest"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I knew if I asked your Adonis to come to save you at that building, he wouldn't come alone and that would be disastrous for me and my boys. So, I made a plan to get you both in an unaware and vulnerable manner, and guess what, it worked honey"
He walked over to Adonis and held his head.
"Don't worry about the blood, they're not his blood. It belongs to somebody else. I think I should tell you that it's also his weakness. I just added a little bit of some of his weaknesses and used you as a rolling stone for everything"
"You're evil, you will rot in hell for this" I yelled.
"If you believe that Miss Bella, then I must tell you that you're stupid. Your lover killed my brother and no, I won't kill him. I'll also take something away from him that he'll never recover from for the rest of his miserable life"
He suddenly brought out a gun and pointed it at me.
"Please, don't kill me! Please" I cried out.
"It's too late"
He pulled the trigger without remorse. On impact, I fell to the bed and felt my breath hitched. I touched my chest and felt blood oozing out from the spot where I was shot.
The last thing I saw was a shadow looming over me and the last I heard was the door being closed.
