Chapter 17
Adonis POV
A heavy knock on my door got me walking out of my bathroom. I walked into the room to realize that it was empty.
"Bella," I called out and I didn't get a response. Before I could move out of the room, I saw a note on the bed. I picked it up and saw that it was from Bella.
She had gone back to her apartment to pick up some dresses and get to work despite how I'd warned her against going out alone.
"Fuck" I cursed. I grabbed the jeans I'd momentarily dropped on a chair and put it on with a random shirt before dashing out of the room to go look for her before something terrible happens to her.
As I moved closer to my front door, a knock resounded. I paused for a minute, trying to be careful.
I opened the door slowly to reveal Marco and a stranger.
Immediately I opened the door, the two men entered even without my permission.
The aura of power that exuded out of the man's body made me know who he was.
He was the vampire king.
"My King" I bowed my head slightly in submission.
"Leave the formality, Adonis. It is unnecessary coming from a powerful vampire that you are"
I nodded, "What is going on?" I asked Andro.
The last time I checked, Marco was supposed to still be in Italy since I haven't heard from him.
I pulled him to the side.
"You should've at least warned me before bringing him to my house,"
"I didn't have a choice. Immediately I mentioned the necklace, he insisted on leaving Italy at that moment. I tried reaching out to Andro but it was all in vain. It's as if that idiot got himself caught up in something," he explained.
"What's going on, why do you look so disoriented?"
Because I could respond, I was interrupted by the King.
"I heard you saw that necklace on a girl"
I glared at Marco.
"Wrong information, your highness. I only saw it on a girl that was in a picture" I said, gritting my teeth.
"Have you confirmed it is the right necklace?"
"No," I replied.
"Do you know where we can find this girl?" He asked.
"Of course, I was on my way to her apartment because of an emergency of some sort" I explained.
"Does it have to do with her?"
"No"
"Is this about Bella?"
The ringing of my phone stopped me from replying to Marco's question.
"Excuse me," I walked away from the group to pick up my phone.
"Who is this?"
There was silence.
"Hello"
Suddenly I heard muffled noises. I furrowed my eyebrow in confusion about whatever was going on. Then the sudden rhythm of a heartbeat made me realize it was Bella.
"Bella, what is going on?" I screamed.
"What do you think is going on, Mr Adonis Gonzalez?"
"Who the fuck are you and what are you doing with Bella?" I yelled, gaining the attention of the two men in my house.
"What's going on, Adonis?" Marco asked worriedly. I turned to face him.
"Who are you?" I asked again.
"I'm someone you know. You killed a particular vampire hunter days ago and unfortunately enough, I have your woman here with me"
"Don't you dare touch Bella or do anything stupid to hurt her or else I'll tear your limbs one after the other and make sure the vultures feed on you" I threatened.
"I won't touch her but that'll be only if you cooperate with us. Surrender yourself and I'll make sure your girl leaves here without a strand of her hair being touched" he negotiated.
Without thinking I replied, "Fine, where should I meet you?"
"I'm in Calvary street, building 14, a few blocks from yours. Remember Adonis, come alone"
I dropped the call angrily and was about to rush out of my house when Marco dragged me back.
"What's going on," be asked.
"Bella.was kidnapped by a stupid vampire Hunter who is trying to get revenge for his brother's death" I explained hurriedly.
"Who's Bella?" The King asked.
"His Emerthus" Marco replied.
"This is all my fault," The king lamented. If Andro was here, he would've made sure he blamed the king even before he blamed himself.
"This has nothing to do with you, My King,"
"I need to leave right now,"
"Adonis, calm the fuck down. We will work this out together, trust us for once. We're brothers and never will we leave you out of this. So, as I said, calm down and explain everything in words that we can understand"
Marco passed me a glass of cold water that I drank at once before narrating all that had happened to them. From the moment I killed that vampire hunter to the threats and kidnap.
"Let's work out a plan," Marco suggested and for the next five minutes, he and the King worked out this plan while I remained at a spot.
All I wanted to do was leave my house that very minute and not listen to anything they were saying.
Half an hour later, I was in my car driving to calvary street, ready to save my girl.
Please, Bella! Be safe!! I prayed.
As I entered the street, I could see kids playing on their bikes and mothers walking around, monitoring them. I asked a particular mother about building 14 and she was hesitant before replying.
"Are you sure you're going to house 14?" She asked.
"Yes, I'm sure"
"That building has been abandoned for a while. Anyway, you can find it at the end of the cul de sac. Just be careful" She suggested and I nodded.
"Thank you"
The first thing I noticed as I drove closer to the building was the silence. I tried straining my ear to listen to any movement but I got nothing.
I parked my car not too far from the building and slowly, I entered the building described and the first person I saw was Bella tied up in her legs and hands. Her mouth was tied as well with a dirty cloth and at that point, I ran towards her.
"I'm so sorry, Bella," I apologized over and over as I removed the cloth from her mouth.
"Are you okay, Adonis?" She asked, making my heart weak.
"I should be asking you that, Bella. Are you okay baby?" I kissed her forehead.
"I'm fine," she replied weakly.
I began losing the ropes on her legs and hands.
"Adonis, someone is behind you" She screamed with horror.
"Don't worry, they're with me" I replied as Marco and the King walked in to join us.
"The chef, right?" She asked and I nodded.
It wasn't necessary to introduce her to the other person. She didn't need to know for now.
"Can you walk?" I asked her and she nodded.
I knew she was lying. I didn't wait for her to stand up, I scooped her up in my hand and carried her bridal style.
"Thank you," I told her as we walked out.
She was confused but she didn't ask any questions. I was grateful that I didn't lose her the second time.
