Chapter 9
Fun fact people: I wrote this chapter twice. I don't know how it happened but the first one got deleted and it took me like three days of lamenting, crying and throwing unnecessary tantrums about it before I could bring myself back to write it again. It might not meet your expectations but I hope it sends the right information across. Thank you.
Adonis' POV
Hurting Bella was not my intention and I fucking hate myself for that right now.
I'd planned on staying for a little while after I woke up before leaving. That was the best and longest sleep I've had in a while and I couldn't be more happy about it.
I had my hands wrapped around my woman, her head gently placed on my chest as she lightly snored, unbothered about any other thing. I wish I could keep doing this each and every other day.
I only tried to take a quick shower when I thought Bella was still sound asleep, I didn't know she would wake up so early. Listening in on her movement, I'd slipped into the bathtub, to cool myself down for a few moments.
When she picked her call and began talking to whoever was on the other end of the line, I almost lost my temper. I wish I could walk out of the shower, get the address of whoever he was and go ahead to kill him before the sunset even if he lives outside the walls of the wall.
As their conversation prolonged, so does my anger. My fangs were out and my veins were already showing through my white skin. At that point, I knew I needed control as Bella's angry and breaking voice wasn't helping.
To control my anger before I do anything stupid and hurt my woman, I'd blocked every of my senses. I couldn't hear her footsteps, her voice, her heartbeat anymore and that was better.
I relaxed into the water and waited. A strange feeling descended on me minutes later, making me open my senses and then I heard Bella's roommate talking to her, more like consoling her.
I wished that was me but I quickly blocked back the senses as the eerie feelings left making me wonder what the deal was with Eva. She couldn't be a vampire, if she was a vampire, I would've known.
"The restaurant called me" Eva said, almost as if she was trying to control her laughter. "They've been trying to reach you on the phone"
Unknowingly, I'd opened back my senses.
"What's wrong?" Bella asked worriedly.
"Nothing serious. Dede was the one who called and she said the restaurant wouldn't be opening today because Maria got into a serious accident yesterday and your boss wouldn't be able to function properly without hitting Maria's pussy"
I smirked at her words.
Trying not to get involved in the ladies conversation anymore, I strongly blocked back my senses. I closed my eyes to sleep for a minute even though I was thirsty. Thirsty for blood, thirsty for her blood.
What I failed to realize was that Eva was already on the way to the bathroom and Bella was at the door, staring at me, until her eyes widened in fear, before she lost consciousness.
"Shit! Bella'' I called out, hurried out of the bathtub and quickly held on to her before she fell totally on the floor even though she had banged her head against the door.
I picked her up properly in my arms before rushing out of the room to place her gently on the bed before covering her with the blanket.
Her eyelids were half open and this showed that she wasn't totally unconscious.
Checking on her head and realizing that there was a small bump made me conclude that I needed to get an ice from their kitchen, that's if I'm lucky enough to see it there.
I headed straight to the kitchen, trying to get the ice I needed for her. After finding it, I started walking back into the room.
The pictures in the living room got my attention and I turned to check them out.
The first picture was that of Bella, standing between two people; a man and a woman. She was smiling widely and she was probably sixteen. The similarity between her and the woman was so uncanny. The woman was her mother and also a redhead like my girl.
I checked the next picture and saw her with the woman only, she looked younger than the previous picture.
The next picture was taken at a burial ground. Bella was standing beside a headstone, wearing a black sunglasses with a black scarf wrapped around her hair. Even though it was just a picture, you could still feel how sad she was.
I wanted to figure out what was wrong with her, who was buried and why she had to look so sad. I looked around her pictures hanging in the walk one more time to get a clue, but I couldn't get anything.
By the time I gave up and was ready to move back with the melting ice, a picture standing right at the corner of the room got my attention.
I bent down, picked it up and observed it. The picture looked old but one strange thing was the fact that Eva, her roommate who was smiling as she wrapped her hands around a man's neck looked the same as now.
Realization dawned on me and I dropped the picture sharply. I picked it up once more to look at it thoroughly. A necklace dangling around her neck was what confirmed my suspicion.
Blood and fire!
Those were the words that rang out in my head.
Confusion was replaced with realisation and for a minute, I held my breath. Whatever this is, whatever was going ok, whoever this woman is, I needed to find out. I don't know if she could be danger to my woman or not but that'll only be if I seek answers.
Quickly I stood up, ready to leave the house but then, u had to get my things from Bella's room before leaving.
I walked back towards Bella's room and once I opened the door, I saw Bella sitting straight on the bed, staring at me as she began shaking her head furiously.
"Who are you?" She asked, fear evident in her voice.
"I'm Adonis" I replied, trying to move closer to her.
She screamed, and that made me stop on my tracks.
"Don't you dare! Don't move closer to me. If you try moving an inch, I swear I'll kill you"
She looked around, trying to get anything to back up her threat.
"You need to call down Bella, please calm down" I begged.
She quickly grabbed the lamp standing on the desk right next to her, aiming it towards me.
I wasn't really comfortable with the way her legs were hanging from the bed. I was scared she could fall and hurt herself and I don't think I can bear that happening to her.
"What do you want from me?" She asked.
"I'm just a friend, Bella. Please just put that fucking lamp down and sit properly on the bed"
I pleaded.
"So you can hurt me right? What are you doing in my house?"
Before I could reply, she continued, "was that you in my bathroom,? What was what? What are you?"
"I'm not going to hurt you Bella. Stay calm for God's sake and I'll explain all that's going on to you, please" I begged.
"I don't believe you" she whispered, loud enough to break my heart.
"Wait, did you say your name is Adonis, right?"
I nodded, knowing another frantic episode was about to start.
"You're Adonis. The same person who showed up at the restaurant Everytime, the same person who threatened and best up Ethan"
"I almost tried to kill someone too," I replied, smirking.
"Who did you try to kill?" She asked
"It doesn't matter, what matters is you putting the lamp down and staying safe, Bella"
"It does matter," she yelled. "I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want from me. Are you a stalker? Are you going to rape me or sell me to women traffickers? Am I dying?"
I almost cursed at myself for letting it get to this. I could have approached her normally and not stalk around her the way I did. Her various assumptions of what I could do to her made me feel so bad about the way I'd done things.
"No Bella" I replied in a voice I almost didn't recognize as mine.
"I would never hurt you. Not even if my life depends on it. Not even if the world's existence depends on it. You're my Emerthus, you're my whole life Bella. Please let me just hold you for a minute, please"
At that point, I knew I was talking to her soul as well and not just to Bella.
Her soul recognizes me and that is all that matters.
"At least cover up your junk before moving closer"
I looked down to see that I've been naked all this time. If she hasn't complained about it since I came in, that means she has been enjoying the view perfectly.
She threw the blanket at me when she realized, I was only smirking at her while looking down at the massive 'junk' in between my legs.
"I'm sorry I scared you Bella. I promise to explain everything to you tonight at dinner. Let me take you out"
"Why not now?"
"There's something urgent I need to attend to and I promise that I'll explain everything afterwards. I promise"
I held her face with my hands and placed my head against her forehead.
Speaking the soul language that only vampire soul mates could understand, I said, "Ful tor reconi der, Bella. You know who I am"
(T: Your soul recognizes me, Bella)
