Chapter 10
Bella's POV
Minutes after Adonis left, I kept on asking myself if all that just happened was real or maybe it had been a dream as usual. I pinched myself, slapped my palms against my cheeks to try and wake myself from that dream but nothing works.
It was as real as anything.
"You ready?" Eva asked, raising her voice as she walked into my room without knocking.
"What?" I asked confusingly.
"I told you we'll be going out after I get back from work and you agreed," she explained.
"Ooh, I totally forgot about that"
I stood up from the bed, getting ready to finally take a shower and leave the house with Bella to have some fun, take my mind off Adonis for a while and probably come back to attend the dinner with him.
"What's the time?" I asked
"It's a little past six. I couldn't get back early because I had to run some errands for Ethan" she replied.
My eyes went wide with surprise. It's over right hours since Adonis left, eight hours since I've been sitting at a spot, contemplating if Adonis was real or not. Eight damn hours.
I groaned loudly as I became confused about what to do.
"Is everything okay, Bella?" Eva asked worriedly.
"I'm fine!"
"Give me a few minutes, I'll be ready soon" I informed her before walking into the bathroom. I laid my back against the bathroom door and closed my eyes, thinking deeply about what to do.
Finally, I decided to go with Eva. Adonis is a stranger and I can't afford going out with someone who has been stalking me for days now, hitting people and almost killing one like he said.
He can't be trusted.
I buried the promise I'd made to him at the back of my mind and decided to go with Eva as a getaway. He can't probably whisk me away in front of her or kill me while she was there.
I took a quick shower and came out of the room to get dressed. I put on boyfriend jeans and a crop top with a white sneakers. I packed my hair in a messy bun before using my mom's old watch and a simple necklace to compliment my dressing. I used an earring since I wouldn't be doing any makeup.
"I'm done!" I said as I walked out of the room to see Eva standing outside waiting for me. She smiled widely as I walked out.
"I thought you were going to take forever in there"
I rolled my eyes at her as we walked out of the house.
"So, where are we going first,?" I asked.
"The park. There's this festival going on in the neighbouring community. I got us two entry tickets and we're riding every thing in that park, even if a "D" is made available"
I giggled.
"How about the haunt house?" She asked
"Not me"
"You're just a scare baby" she teased.
"Whatever. All I know is I'm not going in there with you"
We entered the cab she had ordered and the driver drove off to the park.
"How many rides are we going for?"
"Approximately five, Bella, with the haunted house"
"Let's make it two, were not kids, Eva" I proposed. She pouts and began shaking her head.
"No way. Four" she bargained.
"Three"
"Four"
"T.H.R.E.E, Woman" I spelled it out to her. "Three or nothing" I threatened
"Fine!" She grumbled.
"Go get the tickets'' I ordered. "And choose something that won't make me die from fear just yet" I yelled after her and she turned to give me the finger.
By the time she came back with three tickets, I was already tired of standing.
"The first one, Merry-go-round, baby"
I fist bumped the air before running after her, giggling like a twelve years old.
"This will be so much fun, when was the last time we did this?" I said excitedly.
As the ride went round, we kept on laughing, screaming and yelling words into the air. Super excited to be doing this again after a long period of time.
The second ride was a roller coaster and that ride was amazing. I couldn't hear my voice above every other screaming voice.
"I haven't gotten over my fear of heights yet and I still can't believe it" Eva confessed as we walked away from the roller coaster.
"I totally enjoyed it," I replied.
"Okie dokie. So, let's do something I enjoy" she said, grinning sheepishly. At that moment, I knew something was up. Eva usually has that face whenever she'd do something silly or naughty.
She passed the final ticket.
I turned it over to look and realized it was the haunted house.
"No way am I doing this shit with you" I replied angrily, throwing the ticket to herm
"I did your shit with you, remember"
"I didn't ask you to, Eva. We could have just gone our separate ways as usual. I'm not going into that haunted house with you no matter what"
"Stop being so childish. It's just a house, we all know everything there isn't real. They're just things"
"Well, point of correction, Scary things" I replied
"They won't even hurt you"
"But they could kill me with high blood pressure"
"You're going to have a say over everything I point out, right?"
"If it'll prevent me from going with you, yes" I replied.
"Please Bella, go with me" She held my arm and began pleading.
"No"
"Please"
"I said no"
"PLEASE BELLA, GO WITH ME"
She screamed, gaining the attention of the people at the festival
Trying to prevent further embarrassment, I agreed to go with her.
"Fine, let's go. But u can't promise you that I wouldn't run out even before the end"
"Just hold my hands, I promise I'll take care of you"
"Whatever" I glared at her before walking slowly behind her to the haunted house.
"Just hold my hand" Eva instructed as we walked into the house along with five other people.
Along the way, nothing really scary turned up. I jumped a little when a man in blood suddenly came into view. One of the girls with us ran out of the house screaming aloud, scared.
"I told you it really isn't that scary," Eva said.
"Whatever" I replied, groaning.
"This haunted house is really boring" A guy grumbled, probably not feeling the moody atmosphere like most of us.
By the time we took three more steps through the darkness, we all stopped walking when something ran fast across the isle in front of us.
"What was that?" Someone asked.
"I don't think I know but I'll love to find out" a guy replied excitedly.
Seconds later, someone came into view. His face was hidden under the hat he was putting on even though he was standing under a small bulb of light.
I checked his physique over and it looked really familiar.
Suddenly, he removed his hat from his head.
"Who are you?" Someone asked and a loud hiss came from the strange man.
"Don't spoil the fun by being in such a hurry" The man replied in an inhumane voice.
I rubbed my palm against each other as I suddenly felt cold. I looked around through the small light in the house to see everyone almost shivering..
A girl from behind me suddenly screamed, gadining my attention. When I looked up, fear grabbed me even though I wasn't as s aref as others.
Why?
Because I'd seen that before.
His eyes were bright yellow, has pointed ears, shallow cheeks, single chin, and grey, scaly skin and a pale skin revealing his green veins. He opened his mouth to reveal two upper curved fangs and two lower smaller.
Screams came from right around me.
I closed my eyes to drown their voices and try to think about why this person would be appearing here all over again.
"Open your eyes Bella" his voice called out, gently as he lightly touched my chin.
I did so and when I looked around me, nobody was there. It was then that I realized that I was back in the middle of the festival.
"You promised to wait, mi amor. What happened? Why did you run from me?"
He asked as his voice was laced with hurt.
