Chapter 11
Bella's POV
"I–– I didn't mean to leave" The hurt was evident in his eyes and I didn't know what to say or reply just to make him feel better.
"But you did," he concluded.
"I don't know you, Adonis, I don't even know who you are. You can't expect me to wait for a total stranger"
"You know who I am, Bella," he replied. His voice was higher this time.
"I told you everything the first night we met and you agreed"
"If I did, then why can't I remember anything? All I remember is your name and maybe your handsome face. Nothing more. I want to know what happened" I begged.
"I want to tell you as well. But first, let's get to that date I told you about"
He stretched out his hand for me to take it. For a minute I hesitated but the moment I looked up to see him smiling, I knew I couldn't say no to that genuine smile. I gently placed my hand into his and watched him entwine our fingers together.
He squeezed my hands lightly before he began pulling me away from the festival.
"Get in" he ordered as he opened the back door of a sleek, black car.
"Maybe you should let me get changed at home first, this outfit isn't proper for a date" I requested.
"You look dazzling, mi amor. I don't care about whatever you put on, as long as you're there, your outfit is the last thing I'll care about. Get in baby"
I blushed like an idiot before getting into the car with him.
Adonis introduced me to his driver who didn't say a word. Just a nod and a smile and did that creep me out?
Throughout the ride, I felt Adonis’s eyes on me. I was looking out through the window, checking the skyscrapers and how beautiful the October Atmosphere was, smiling. I turned to see him staring at me, smiling right back.
"What?" I asked
"Nothing mi amor. I'm just observing a beautiful piece of art" he replied, making me blush harder.
"We're here, Bella" The car door was opened and Adonis helped me out.
It was when I looked forward that I realized he had brought me to a fancy Italian restaurant.
The restaurant, Amico chef, was one of the best in town and before you can get in, you have to make a reservation two months earlier.
"You can get the best pasta only in this restaurant," Adonis explained, getting my attention back.
"I know. It puts every other restaurant around here in their place. It's so hard to get a reservation, how did you manage it?" U asked, curious about how he had done it.
"My brother is the chef here and getting a reservation isn't a problem"
Adonis was smiling, holding his hand out in front of me.
It was at that point that I took in his appearance. He wasn't wearing a suit like the usual time, only a blue t-shirt and well-tailored pants. He rolled up the sleeve of his t-shirt to his ankle to reveal those bulging muscles that I wouldn't stop staring at. His hair was almost messy as strands of hair were across his beautiful face and I wished I could push them back.
"Mi Amor" he called out. Suddenly, I felt his hands on my face as he stared longingly into my eyes.
"What is the matter? Do you not like this place?" He asked
"No!, I just got carried away with my thoughts for a minute, this place is great" o smiled.
"If you don't like it, just say the word and we'll get out of here" he replied gently, after which he kissed my forehead, igniting the fire of passion in my body, especially right between my legs.
He took my hands in his and led me into the restaurant.
"Good evening, Mr. Gonzalez, would you like to use this floor or the first floor?" A waiter walked up to us, making me etch my eyebrow in confusion.
"That'll be me, my full name is Adonis Gonzalez," he said, clearing my confusion. He faced the waiter back and told her we'll be using the first floor.
"You're from Spain," I asked
"Yes, my love" he replied and I nodded.
"So, what are you doing here?"
"Living" He simply replied. I didn't push further because I realized that a simple response was all he wanted me to say.
We followed the waiter into the elevator leading to the first floor.
"What do you do for a living?"
"I kill people and take their money" he whispered back, making me shiver in fear.
He looked at me and smiled. A second later, I felt his hand at the back of mine too, making small circles right above my waist and that made me relax a little bit into his hands.
"Please follow me," The waiter instructed as the elevator door opened.
"Were you serious about killing people and taking their money?"
"It depends. How do you like your previous lovers, bad boys or good boys?" He asked,
"There's no correlation between that and my question"
"Well, there is. Your answer to my question will determine my answer to your question"
"Why?"
"Because I'll be whatever you want me to be, Mi favorita"
"Please take your seat. The chef would soon be here with your orders"
The waiter said, interrupting the moment.
"You already ordered?"
"A while ago" He replied nonchalantly. I would have loved to make an order myself but he took that from me.
I quickly pushed the thoughts to the back of my mind.
We took a seat at where he had mentioned and I looked out of the window to see the outside view was more beautiful from up here.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Adonis asked and I nodded. "It's even more beautiful with you right here" he whispered loud enough for me to hear.
Since I didn't know what to say, I could only smile at him.
"Today must have been a bad day for business"
"Why do you say that?"
"There's no one here except us," I replied.
"I reserved the whole restaurant," Adonis replied.
What!
"Is that even possible?" The words slipped out before I could control my mouth.
"We're the only ones here, right? That means it is possible, baby"
I nodded.
"So, how did you find me?" I asked. He looked up from his phone, confusion in his eyes. "I mean, at the festival. How did you know I was there?"
"Your heartbeat" he simply replied before looking back at his phone.
His answer confused me. How can he find me with a faint heartbeat that not even the person next to me can hear?
What does that even mean?
"Here" he passed me his phone and when I took it, I saw a picture of me in his car. He must have taken it earlier.
"It's great" I complimented and he laughed.
"I wasn't asking for your comment, Bella. I was asking for permission to keep it on my phone"
"Ooh" That was all I said.
He took my hand in his again and was about to say something when the chef came in.
"It's so good to see the face of the loser who reserved my whole restaurant"
I suddenly wanted to say something awful back to the chef after his choice of words angered me when I saw Adonis smiling.
Then I remembered he had said something about the chef being his brother.
"Marco. I thought I'll die before I get to see you outside the walls of this building again" Adonis stood up to hug his brother.
"It's such a good day, brother. Who's this beautiful lady with you here?" Marco asked.
"This is Bella, my woman"
"It's so nice to finally meet the girl that Andro had told me about"
"I know Andro can't keep that lousy mouth of his shut for a minute"
"I'll let you enjoy your meal. It's so nice meeting you again, Bella"
"Same here. It's so nice to meet you. You have a great restaurant by the way"
"Thank you, Bellissima Dea" He said, before leaving. {T: Beautiful)
"That was Italian. He just spoke Italian" I said to Adonis who was busy helping the waiter to set the table.
"Yes, because he's an Italian"
What!
"I thought you said he was your brother. Different fathers, right?" I asked
"No. Biologically, we ain't siblings but something does make us brothers"
"Which is?"
"Later Mi Amor, let's eat, please" he squeezed my hand lightly, wanting me to drop the topic.
I took the fork and tasted the pasta first.
"This is delicious" I moaned
"I knew you would like it"
Suddenly, I remembered something. So I dropped the fork and decided to go after the major reason why I'd agreed to go on a date with him.
"Why can't I remember anything from our first night? Who are you, Adonis? What was that I saw in my bathroom and at the haunted house today?"
"Bella, not now. Eat first, I beg you"
"You promised to give me answers"
"After you eat"
"Fine! I'll leave because it is obvious you ain't ready to say anything"
I said, first dropping the napkin on the table.
"I'm Adonis and…." He hesitated for a little while.
"And what, Adonis?"
"You'll leave if I tell you what you want to know"
"It depends on what you tell me" I pushed.
"You don't understand, Bella"
"You can't possibly be a werewolf or a vampire right? That shit only exists in movies. Not in real life"
"You can't say that, Bella"
"Why? I'm right about….."
He interrupted me before I could finish my words "I'm a vampire"
For a minute, I was silent. It was as if a cold bucket of water was dropped on me.
"A what?" I asked.
"A vampire, Bella"
"That isn't possible"
"You’ve seen me in my real form twice. Stop trying to find other explanations for what you saw"
My suspicion was finally right. I knew from what I saw at my bathtub that he looked like how vampires have been described but I didn't want to believe he was actually that.
"These bites on my neck are what?" I asked, scared of what his answer would be.
"That is me marking my territory. Keeping other vampires off. Linking our souls together and…" be trailed off, "Feeding a little from you in the process"
My eyes went wide with shock as my lips trembled.
"You took my blood without my permission"
"No Bella, I would never do anything like that. You were hundred percent aware of what was going on and you knew perfectly"
"Why can't I remember this thing you're talking about?" I asked, yelling. Almost close to tears dropping from my eyes.
"Because you asked for it, Bella. You asked me to erase your memory that night, Mi Amor"
