Chapter 14 - The Rivalry
CELESTINA VILLARAMA’s POV
A minute hasn’t even passed by, but the discomfort that I’ve been having has made me think that it’s past an hour already. My eyes were beginning to blur everything in my sight, the same with my capability to hear. I couldn’t even get a proper glimpse of Ice’s aura any longer when all of a sudden, I saw the hands of a different person.
It was Siege’s palms.
I couldn’t completely understand how I could see if I was in his position, but one thing is for sure… He was completely losing it, he was out of control.
“Are you sure that you’re going to be alright, Siege?” asked Kristoffer who was presumably behind Siege.
Siege hissed as a pre-response. “That’s the least thing that I wanted to hear from you, Kris.”
I felt myself absolutely losing seventy-five percent of my consciousness as Siege injured himself with his enlarged nails that were turned into claws of a beast.
“Stop that, bro! You’re already going through so much pain now, you don’t have to hurt yourself, it would only worsen your current situation. You know that tonight would be the time that the full crimson moon would show up,” Kristoffer raised his voice as he held onto Siege’s shoulder as hard as he could just to prevent his brother from doing anything irrelevant. “You’re prone to getting attacked by the outsiders and even those from the other pack, so I made sure that the protection of our territories would be tightened.”
So that’s the reason why Ice and I couldn’t find the correct place and also why it seems to be impossible to head back from where we came from.
“I need my f*cking mate this instant, Kris!” Siege was obviously vexed, his words echoed all throughout the facility that they were in.
“You still haven’t found your mate though.”
“Then find anyone out there who’s willing to be my one and only possession or get your ass out of my sight if you don’t have anything to do for me!” Siege was kind of desperate and he didn’t even sound like his usual self.
Kristoffer hummed despite the situation that he was in. “Should I call Celeste back to our mansion?”
My heart throbbed at the moment that the beta mentioned my name. I thought that he wouldn’t even dare to say anything about me as I was an outcast, but that wasn’t the case.
“Speechless, huh?” Kristoffer walked in front of Siege and stared deeply into his eyes. “I know that you’re there…” He planted a playful smile on his lips, as if to infer that he can sense my presence through the depths of Siege’s soul.
On the next second that I blinked, I saw Kristoffer’s body laying on the ground with his blood rushing out from his forehead.
“I gave you a warning, Kris. You never know how to listen to your older brother since birth. If that’s how you’re going to act up to this day, then you’re leaving me with no choice but to treat you as my underling,” Siege uttered with a strenuous sense of authority.
“Celestina, come back to your senses!” Ice yelled and even though I still wanted to see through the end of the Wong’s rivalry, I had no option to do so. “What’s up with you lately? You’ve been acting out of character since the time that you returned from Lucas’ office. Something really did happen back then, huh?”
I held on to the temple of my head as I was still dizzy. “N-no…”
Realizing that all of that occurred because of the presence of the full crimson moon, I couldn’t help myself not to glance back at the sky. It was no longer filled with crimson and it’s back to its normal hue.
I heaved out an exhausting sigh in realization that the pain was over… or maybe it was just a taste of the beginning of my sufferings?
“Can you stand up?” Ice asked as he reached out his hand to me.
I refused to hold onto him and just forced myself to stand on my own. “Let’s go,” I firmly said as I stepped forth and didn’t bother to look back if he followed my tracks or not.
“Where are we supposed to go when we don’t even have a proper lead? Someone’s bound to attack you anytime now, Celestina. I told you to be careful.” Ice ran and was able to get ahead of me in less than a minute with his agility.
“Well… Who do we have here?” I heard a familiar voice and even if it was faint, I knew that it was Kristoffer who spoke. “The lovely kid, Ice, together with the rogue, Celeste,” he added before finally showing himself in front of us.
“M-master Kristoffer, what brings you here?” I muttered in confusion, believing that he passed out from the impact of Siege’s blow and the fact that he was unconscious just a few minutes ago.
Kristoffer smirked at the same time that he shrugged his shoulders. “Shouldn’t I be the one asking that, Celeste? If I’m not mistaken, I clearly told you not to get back here unless you’re confident with your strength alone.”
“I brought myself back here not because I’m already prepared to face the consequences of whatever it is that the alpha wants to do with me. The sole reason why I’m here with Ice was because I…” I breathed in heavily as I gulped before I continued, “I sensed that you were calling for me, Master Kristoffer,” I concluded with full determination.
His eyes widened, most probably not expecting that I had any idea about the conversation between him and his brother. “So I was right — you were there at the moment that he was going through all of those hardships.” Kristoffers calm expression was replaced with a stern look. He didn’t seem to be pleased with that occurrence.
Ice held my wrist as the wind was circling upon us as if there was a tornado. “He’s not the type of opponent that we can handle even with our current strength combined, Celestina,” he whispered to me, and by the time that I glanced at him, I saw how his lips were momentarily shaking in fear.
