Chapter 51 - The Attack I
CELESTINA VILLARAMA'S POV
I've been holding my breath in for a while now since I was trying to suppress the pain that I got from the alpha. Siege was burying his nail in my arm, which caused my blood to gush out of it. He kept on pulling my arm in the direction of the rogues' cell, making them cause an uproar.
"S-stop that, Siege! T-they're worse than vampires when it comes to reacting to blood," I anxiously said as I kept on attempting to retrieve my arm from his grasp, only to receive constant failure. "I-I'll do it, okay? Just let go of me, then I'll do the training or whatever it is that you want," I convinced him.
Siege's fingers began to get lighter, so I took that opportunity to pull my arm away. "You could've just agreed to it earlier. I wouldn't have hurt you if you did." He rolled his eyes as if it wasn't a big deal for him to give me a wound, since he knows that I can heal myself.
My heart thumped in nervousness that I might end up embarrassing myself right in front of the alpha after sounding like I was determined to train. "Can you promise me one thing first, Siege?" I waited for him to give me a sign to continue speaking before I did. "Can you swear to me that you won't laugh at me while we're in the middle of our training sessions?"
Siege gazed at me with confusion. "Laugh at you? You're training for the sole purpose of improving your strength and your stamina. It's normal if you wouldn't do everything perfectly at the very first try," he replied, assuring me that he wouldn't make me feel like a fool.
I thought that he would begin with teaching me how to shoot a gun, but no, he ordered me to exercise at the corner for an hour straight. My sweat endlessly escaped through my pores, and I could barely catch my breath. I probably look so tired right now, but the alpha doesn't have any plans to give me a rest.
He immediately told me to do another round, which means another hour of exercise without giving me any sort of refreshment. So I forced myself to accomplish every set that I had to do just to get it over with.
"D-didn't you say that you'll train me? Why are you just standing there like an audience?" I continuously wiped my sweat with the back of my hand. My entire body felt sticky as I got my outfit drenched in my own sweat.
Siege shrugged both of his shoulders. "You need to buff your muscles, Celestina. You never had proper training since you were born, right? Since you believed that you'd be a human for eternity," he said. "Can you shift into your wolf without letting Celeste take control of your conscience?" he asked, hoping that Celeste wouldn't come out.
I shook my head. "I never tried shifting on my own yet. The next full moon is less than a few weeks; maybe then I can try it out," I replied without being certain.
"You weren't born as a pup, so it's normal for you not to be able to shift. And if I'd believe that you're cursed by the moon goddess, then that's another factor," Siege mumbled while walking past the shelves and those weapons that were locked. "Does silver have any effect on you?" he asked, pointing over the silver chains.
"I don't think so."
I stopped in front of the weapons with silver chains as their locks. I stretched out my arm to hold the edge of the chain, waiting for any reaction from it.
"If you're not affected by silver, then you're probably immune to wolfsbane as well," Siege commented as he let me proceed with unlocking the chains. "You're going to train with that weapon from now on until midnight. I'll be defending you from behind if ever the cage opens up," he said.
"A scythe?"
"Yes. I know that you and Stella are both into scythes, so..."
I still can't believe how he knows a lot about me, but since the chains have been destroyed by me, I got rid of my thoughts as soon as I held the scythe. It was heavier compared to what was crafted back in the Silver Moon Pack. Though I can't really point out if there's any difference between it and what Stella has.
"The damage of that scythe would depend on how strong the user is, Celestina. If you're weaker than Stella, then even if you're given the most powerful scythe in this realm, it wouldn't change the fact that Stella is stronger than you," Siege said as if he could read what was running through my mind.
I held on to the tip of the scythe, only to be wounded by it. "Ouch," I uttered, and I was surprised by how Siege claimed it with his index finger as he sipped on it to eradicate the blood coming out of it.
I stared at him as he had my finger in his mouth, and a few seconds was all it took for him to let go of it. "Sorry. I don't know what's wrong with me lately. I can't understand what's going through my heart and why I'm feeling this way. Let's just focus on your training so we can head back up to the pack house," he said, his voice sounding like he was in a state of panic.
I doubt that Siege informed anyone else other than Amelia that he would be down here with me, so I made up my mind to just focus on this training and let all of my other thoughts subside.
Midnight came, and just as Siege anticipated, the cage had broken down on its own. It made a high-frequency sound as it dropped on the ground, causing me to hold onto my ears as the rogues kept on howling and roaring, preparing to strike.
Siege moved back, holding my elbows from behind. "Remember, slash through their neck and it will be over. That scythe is made up of silver, so they won't be able to stand back up no matter what as long as their head is decapitated from their body," he whispered as he placed his chin on my shoulders.
I breathed in heavily, and I let my eyes open widely as one of them launched an attack out of the blue.
