Chapter 64 - The Quest
CELESTINA VILLARAMA’S POV
The beta had already left an hour ago, and yet I’m still here in the same pond where I was hoping to reach out to the moon goddess. My heart hasn’t stopped racing ever since I heard about Stella bearing the child of Siege.
I know that there’s still a chance that babies or pups won’t be formed since they recently did it. So as early as now, I have to find a way to prevent Stella from getting herself pregnant, no matter how many times she tries to have sex with the alpha of the Crimson Moon Pack.
I didn’t give up calling out to Sarina. She will definitely get tired of hearing my voice sooner or later, which is why I’m positive that she will show herself in less than a few minutes. And I wasn’t mistaken when I caught a glimpse of Sarina descending from the moon itself. Her appearance was literally glowing. She wore a white dress, and her hair was floating all over her body.
“You look completely different compared to the first time that I saw you here, Sarina. That outfit suits you better; you look stunningly elegant.” I complimented her with a genuine smile as soon as she stepped her feet on the ground.
The moon goddess showed a small smile. “I appreciate the compliment, but you’ve been disturbing me for consecutive hours. What do you want from me, Celestina Villarama?” she asked.
I couldn’t even tell if she was frustrated over that or if she was simply dying to know my concern. "I have to go back to the Crimson Moon Pack, Sarina," I said without any hesitation, despite knowing that Lucas' condition might worsen.
Sarina linked her arms together below her chest. "You're fully aware of the risk and the trouble you'd give Lucas if you go back there, Celestina. Are you sure that you'd leave his side without finding the cure for his curse?" she asked, and I couldn't even determine if she was really concerned or was she merely pretending to care about the alpha.
I nodded my head twice. "My mate is about to declare my sister his Luna, and I know damn well that isn't supposed to happen, not now or even a thousand centuries later!" I furiously replied, forming lines on my forehead.
The moon goddess grinned, which reached her cheeks. "If that's the case, should I send you out for a quest?" she uttered.
Tilting my head sideways out of curiosity, Sarina explained the certain quest that she was meaning to say. She gave me the responsibility to secure the spot as the Crimson Moon Pack's Luna, and once I claimed that spot, she would revoke the curse that she bestowed upon Lucas.
"You're not kidding, right?" I inquired, having doubts about her words.
"What do you take me for? I'm the most powerful creature in this realm. I can do whatever I want, and I wouldn't gain anything from tricking you, Celestina," she answered with a straight face. "So, what do you say? Are you up for my deal?"
I held my chin for a minute before I gave her my response: "Yes. I'll become Siege's Luna no matter what."
There were other rules other than becoming the Luna of Siege's pack. Sarina informed me that I shouldn't let Siege see me getting into his territory; in other words, I should successfully infiltrate his pack house without getting my presence detected by him. Though that was only optional, since there's less than one percent for me to absolutely hide my presence from him.
"Can't you at least lift my curse first so I can utilize the full potential of my strength?" I questioned the moon goddess as soon as she turned around to face her back on me. "I'm literally weaker than a pup when I don't have a weapon with me. I can't even shift at will even if Celeste wants to break free. Please grant me your divine power, Sarina," I added.
The moon goddess hummed before she faced me again. She intertwined her fingers with her other hand, placing it behind her. "That would be the same as cheating, Celestina. You should learn how to deal with hurdles on your own," she replied.
After she turned me down, Sarina vanished from my eyesight. There were particles of gold seen on the spot where she last stood, and they disappeared a few seconds later.
Clenching my fists, I walked away from the pond and hurried my way back to the mansion of the Silver Moon Pack.
I know that I shouldn't let Leo know about my current plan, but there's no way for me to escape his vicinity as well. If I just kept on running away from all the problems, I wouldn't learn from them at all.
"Leo," I called out to the beta, who was having the best time of his life.
Leo was sitting slightly on the edge of the table that was in the center of the lobby. He was holding onto Lucas' head, which was placed above his lap. He was carefully caressing Lucas' hair, as if he deeply cared about the alpha.
I gritted my teeth, wondering if the beta knew that Lucas wasn't actually dead and was just concealing his presence from everyone within the pack, including me. Although, I knew exactly where Lucas was hiding.
"Didn't you want to avoid me, Celestina?" Leo didn't bother to raise his head to glance up my way. "Why are you here?" he asked, finally meeting my gaze.
I heaved out a loud sigh before I spoke. "I have something important to tell you."
Leo smirked, standing firmly on the ground, as he let go of Lucas' head as he placed it on the table. "Go on. That better be something good, or I won't let you be," he uttered.
"I'll go to the Crimson Moon Pack tonight, and I have to make sure that you won't harm Ice while I'm not around," I said, feeling a bit nervous as silence surrounded us.
The aura that was emitted from the beta was suffocating. It was like he had his hands strangled upon my neck, even though we were a few meters apart.
"For what? Are you going to kill your sister so that the Luna ceremony won't proceed as planned?" Leo coldly questioned me, his eyes piercing through the depths of my soul.
If only gazes could kill people, I would've been lifeless now.
"I won't do something as cruel as that, Leo. I still have a little bit of conscience left for Stella, even though she's trying to steal my man away from me," I replied, letting my eyebrows rest as I was scrunching my forehead for too long.
"What if I don't permit you to leave?"
"I'll take your head and display it beside Lucas' corpse, Leonardo." I stared at him with such a deadly glare, making him feel my determination to leave this place and initiate my infiltration.
"I'll be giving you a few hours to deal with that. If you don't return the day after tomorrow, I'll take Ice's head instead and place it on the sharp edge of a silver sword of a statue in front of the pack's mansion," Leo said, giving me his approval to leave.
I slightly bowed my head. "This is the first and last time that I'd give you my thanks, Leo," I uttered, before I quickly turned around to cross the threshold of the mansion's exit.
While running at full speed, I couldn't help but wonder if the beta was actually good-hearted and was just being forced to look like he's as ruthless as anyone could ever be.
