Chapter 75 - The Bond
CELESTINA VILLARAMA'S POV
About an hour or two has already passed. Lucas recovered from all the injuries he received after getting beaten up by those wolves, where he barely survived. There were no changes until now. The warriors were still lurking around the mansion, and we still haven't made a decision whether to let them be or if we should take vengeance for the sake of those who died without attaining justice.
"I'll be the first one to go out. If they strike me, then we'll all fight them. If they can be convinced to stop whatever they started, then let's let them go." Lucas finally shared his plan. "Protect Celestina at all costs. She can't die in this realm; it would be a huge mess if Celestina dies here," he added, looking at me with a stern gaze.
Ice showed me his hand, and I glanced at it, confused. "Aren't you going to hold my hand again like you used to? This might be the first and last chance that I can hold your hand; won't you let me?" he said, his voice full of affection for me.
I had no reason not to let him hold mine. Although I thought that he would immediately let me go after a few seconds of holding it, he intertwined his fingers with mine, refusing to remove it even after several attempts at pulling it away.
"You don't hold it as tight as you did back then," Ice bitterly muttered to himself.
Lucas opened the door, causing us to breathe heavily. It seems like the warriors had keen senses; most of them rushed to the area of our room, and it only took half a minute for them to reach us.
"Who ordered you to make a mess on our turf? We did nothing to deserve this," Lucas questioned, raising his voice so that everyone would hear it, even those people who weren't on the same floor as us.
"The alpha, who else?" one of the warriors in the center replied.
I held my head when I felt dizzy out of the blue. Ice made sure that I wouldn't lose my balance. "I-I think someone is forcing their way into my mind," I stuttered as the pain in my head still didn't subside.
Kris stepped ahead, stopping in front of me to check on my condition while Lucas was occupied with having a short conversation with the warriors. "What do you mean?" he asked.
"T-there's this blurred image in my mind, and I could hear some echoes and a high-frequency sound, but I can't comprehend what it was," I answered as Ice let go of my hand as he tried to massage the back of my head, hoping that I'd feel better.
Kris took a short glance at the mass of warriors ahead of us before he returned his attention to me. "There's definitely someone among those warriors that's involved with you. They're trying to mind-link with you," he guessed.
"Mate. Your mate is finally starting to wake up to his senses," Celeste said from the back of my mind. "Your mate is soon to rush his way here to claim you as his. I won't permit that to happen," she added.
I groaned in pain when I felt that my wolf was also forcing her way out of me. She desperately tried to shift, and I don't even know what she was planning.
"Celeste, stop messing around with your host," Kris coldly said, as if he heard what my wolf said. "Can't you see the situation we're in right now? If you interfere and force your way out, do you think it would help us at all? No; you'll just be a hindrance."
Lucas turned around to face us, and I saw how his eyes instantly widened at the same time that he screamed his lungs out. "Run!"
All the warriors made loud noises on their feet as they chased us, causing us to run as quickly as we could without any destination.
"Why are we running? Didn't you manage to convince them?" I asked, forgetting about the fact that Celeste was still urging me to shift with her.
"We were right; they won't leave this place as long as there are still people living inside the mansion," Lucas said, taking the lead. "I think we would be safe as long as we're not on our turf. Let's fall back to the Dark Valley for now," he suggested.
However, my legs wobbled, causing me to trip on my feet. "Ouch," I grunted as I held onto my legs that had dripping blood.
"Stand up!" Leo yelled, defending me from the warrior who almost pierced me with his weapon. Our beta assisted me in standing up, holding my forearm tightly. "Can you continue walking?" he asked, concerned.
I shook my head, knowing that I was about to lose consciousness. "I-I can't do this anymore; Celeste is too strong for me to handle. I'll let her take over. It would be better for me anyway," I said, informing them that my wolf will be the one they're going on a journey with.
Kris instantly hissed as soon as he noticed the change in my aura. "Can't you at least pretend to be happy that Celestina set me free? She could've died if she didn't," I complained, rolling my eyes.
I distanced myself from the rest of them, and chose to stay close to my mate's brother. I clung onto his arm at the same time that I bowed my head to look at the wound on my leg, which was caused by Celestina's fall earlier.
Healing was not a problem for me; it only took a second for it to regenerate back to normal.
"Do you just want to see me get killed by Siege? Have you already forgotten his warning that he'd kill me if he saw you close to me?" Beta Kristoffer tried to resist my hold, but I pulled him close as I proceeded to walk downstairs.
The rest of them followed us, and no one dared to interrogate me. I made sure to walk across the path where there were no warriors in sight, so that they would be saved from the trouble of dealing with them.
"Sarina is in the process of lifting Celestina's curse," I replied instead of directly answering his query. "You know what I mean by that, don't you?"
I noticed how Beta Kristoffer gulped. "Does that mean that Siege will finally sense you as his fated mate? But why now of all times? He's about to get Stella as his chosen mate and his Luna; they even did the deed already," he inquired.
The way that Beta Kristoffer was rather concerned made me feel upset. "Why are you anxious? Are you worried that your brother would claim Celestina for himself?"
"That's not the case. I just want Celestina to decide if she would still consider being with Siege after what he did to her," Kris responded, which sounded like a hoax to me.
I scoffed, moving away from him as I crossed my arms below my chest. "Stop lying to yourself, Beta Kristoffer. I can read your eyes. Your facial expression says it all; you're like an open book," I said, laughing at him.
Lucas stepped between us. "I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation, but the full moon is about to rise." He pointed at the sky that was as clear as day, and only the moon was in sight. "You have to go to Siege if you really want him to claim you and mark you as his mate," he mumbled.
