Chapter 84 - The Betrayal
CELESTINA VILLARAMA'S POV
I initially believed that Celeste would be shifting with me as soon as Leo leaves the Silver Moon Pack's basement cells, but she didn't. My wolf urged me to wait for the person who was rushing to come to find me. Deep down, I'm hoping that it will at least be Siege. And if not, let it be Ice.
I can't face Lucas at this point, since I know that he would be bursting in anger upon realizing that I turned my back on him. He will definitely think that I only used and treated him as an option, and now that I have such a great opportunity for me to come back to the Crimson Moon Pack, I might end up leaving him behind for good.
"Celestina, where are you?" A man was calling me from outside, and the next minute, I heard endless knocks on the door. "Are you there? Call out my name or at least say anything!" He screamed, and judging from his voice, I knew that it was the person I hated to see at this moment.
"Lucas!" I yelled out as loudly as I could. "I'm here, Lucas!" I tried to bang the bars of the cell, knowing that I wouldn't be affected by its silver material, but I wasn't strong enough for it to be heard outside.
I thought that the alpha had given up trying to open the door since it seemed like only Leo had access to manage the door, but I guess he only stepped backwards to make sure that his impact would be strong enough to break it down.
The door immediately broke as Lucas forced his way inside with half of his body shifted into his wolf form. There were questions inside my mind, which I could no longer ask as I was already in the midst of losing consciousness.
Lucas hurried to destroy the cells' lock, and once he was successful, he opened it for me. "What have you been doing? I told you not to trust Leonardo, didn't I?" He complained as he pulled me out of the cell, embracing me with his broad arms as if he wasn't mad.
"A-aren't you frustrated with me? I betrayed you and your pack." I stuttered because of how worried I was that I would have another person hating me for what I chose to do.
The alpha gently pushed me to face him. He fixed some strands of my hair that were blocking my face. "That's exactly how I feel right now, but your safety comes first. I'll decide on what punishment I'll give you later on, once I've already dealt with Leo," he replied.
Upon letting me go, he roamed around the entire basement cell with me. He kept on hissing every single time a rogue attempted to catch his arm. He was irritated by how his beta trapped these poor wolves who had no home.
"Are you going to keep them in your pack?" I asked out of curiosity.
I still have no idea how Lucas didn't notice that Leo brought these wolves here, since there were literally a lot! I bet that these rogues would surpass a hundred or two when counted.
"I can't take all of them in my pack. I have to examine their abilities first and test their loyalty with me. You know how much I hate being betrayed," he responded at the same time that he stopped lurking around the area. "Let's go outside. I'm sure that Leo already felt that you've been set free." He invited me, lending me his hand, which I refused to hold.
About half an hour later, I was still following Lucas. We didn't head inside the pack house, so I had no idea if Ice was still safe. The alpha kept ignoring my queries whenever I asked him about Ice's condition.
"Where are we going anyway? Is the mansion still under construction?" I asked, pointing in the direction behind us.
Lucas shook his head twice. "I don't want you to see Ice at the moment. I told him to focus on his treatment too," he replied with a serious expression written on his face.
I don't know what treatment he was talking about, but I pretended like I understood him, since I think that we already arrived at our destination upon seeing that Lucas halted with his movements.
"This place..." I gasped, covering my mouth with one of my palms when I realized what was going on.
I slightly took consecutive steps backward, wanting to go away and out of the alpha's reach, but it was too late for me. Lucas held my wrists as tightly as he could, pressing them hard, making me wince in pain since it was the same position where the ropes were tied earlier.
"Let me go, Lucas!" I grabbed his hand that was on my wrist, pulling it out, but it was inevitable since the difference in our strengths was obvious. "I thought that you could be trusted. I really believed that you came there to save me and let me be with the people I wanted to be with!"
The words that came out of my mouth were just filled with utter disappointment for the alpha.
Lucas' aura was altered as his fingernails started to grow sharper at the same moment that his limbs were stretched out as his bones were cracking inside, which I clearly heard. "Trust? You're the first one to ruin that between us, Celestina. You have no right to feel dismayed by what I'm going to do from now on; this is just payback," he coldly said.
The very second that his eyes met my gaze, I sensed a surge of heat rushing from my stomach up to my head. It wasn't the same type of heat that I felt whenever Siege was nearby. It was the heat that made me realize that he was the one I should've been terrified of right from the very beginning, and not his beta.
Lucas wouldn't have been proclaimed the alpha of the Silver Moon Pack if he were a mere loser.
