Chapter 89 - The End of A Long Night
CELESTINA VILLARAMA'S POV
The aura that emitted from Siege was bursting with intense bloodlust, even though he was still not shifted to his wolf form. In each step that he made towards Lucas and Leo, he was glowing in a mixture of a dark and crimson aura.
"Give me Celestina's pendant back, Leo. I'll give you three seconds to hand it to me," Siege seriously mumbled. He wasn't even looking at any of them, and despite watching them from behind, I can see how Siege was only glancing at his feet.
"Oh, is this what you're after?" Leo showed him the pendant, waving it in front of his face to force Siege to look at it.
The beta of the Silver Moon Pack attempted to break the pendant, but he was unsuccessful in every attempt he made. I couldn't help but smirk upon witnessing how much he humiliated himself in front of Siege because of that failure.
I guess Sarina was still on my side after all.
"You thought that you were being protected by the Moon Goddess?" Siege scoffed, finally raising his head to face them. I had to move to the side to have a better view of what would happen between them. "That damn Moon Goddess isn't the type of woman to take anyone's side, Leo. You can't think about that, not even for a hundred years after, especially not because you managed to steal that pendant from Celestina," he added to mock the beta even more.
I saw how Leo clenched his right fist where the pendant was. And despite doing so, his hands were still left open because of the barrier that served as the pendant's protection.
"You're all talk, Siege!"
Lucas suddenly tried to punch Siege, thinking that Siege wouldn't be able to block it due to his conversation with the beta, but Siege easily avoided being hit. Because of how Siege dodged Lucas' attack, it was Lucas who ended up almost tripping himself, since he placed a lot of impact on his fist in hopes that it'd hit Siege.
"Stella has always been talking about you day and night. Being the Crimson Moon Pack's Luna has always been her motivation to live!" Lucas raised his voice, making it sound quite hoarse. "Now that she's close to achieving her dream, I can't let Celestina take over her spot. I'll have to keep her by my side," he further said, letting me feel creeped out, thinking that he was the possessive type.
Siege grabbed Lucas' shoulders, and a few seconds later, he smashed his forehead on Lucas' all of a sudden, as if it wouldn't break their skulls at all. I saw the immediate gushing of blood that came out of both of their foreheads. As concerned as I was, Siege prevented me from stepping in between them through our mind-links.
"I don't want to hear Celestina's name coming out of your mouth, Lucas. You're the worst person that I ever encountered, together with this beta of yours," Siege mumbled, holding Lucas by his cheeks. "I used to treasure our friendship back in the days when we were still allies. But now, I can only see you as someone who's insecure about his own strength."
I can somehow understand how Siege was feeling. It was both Lucas and Leo who were there for him and Kris, even right before I was brought to this realm.
Siege further expressed his disappointment with Lucas. He made Lucas feel ashamed of himself for trying to step over their pack and attempting to steal whatever was his.
"You're thinking too highly of yourself, Siege. Is this because you finally acknowledged Celestina as your mate?" Lucas questioned him. "How can you be so sure that she's pure? As far as I heard, she had a night with your brother and a stranger from our pack," he muttered with a faint grin.
Siege asked me through our mind-link if that was true, and I immediately refused it. He already knows about how Kris and I only lied to him, so I only explained how I almost did it with a stranger. And it was the sole reason that led Siege to endlessly smack Lucas' face.
"The two of you forced her to do it with a man she still hasn't met?" Siege punched Lucas' through his chin, causing him to fall to the ground. He glanced at Leo, as if to tell him that it was his turn now.
The way that Leo slowly gulped down his saliva out of fear didn't escape my eyesight. "You finally sensed how strong Siege is, huh?" I whispered to myself at the same time that I crossed my arms.
"The Moon Goddess will punish you once you kill any of us, Siege. Are you sure that you're ready to face the consequences?" Leo tried to stop Siege by dragging Sarina onto their topic. "Who knows? She might end up cursing you and taking your wolf spirit!" he added out of desperation when Siege no longer hesitated to grab his collar and lift him through mid-air.
Siege let out a chuckle. "If that's what the Moon Goddess wants, then let her be. It's not like we will still last long in this realm," he replied. "You should actually thank me. I'm letting you face death as early as now; you're going to avoid the anguish and misery out of the Moon Goddess' plan for judgment day."
Leo held Siege's arm to stop him from strangling him. I can only think about how Leo was having fun while doing the exact same thing to me earlier, and now that he was put in my shoes, he's trembling out of terror.
"Don't you have any last words, Leo?" Siege asked the beta, who had given up.
Leo let Siege do as he pleased; he no longer had the will to live. And it was the same for Lucas. Even though he was already standing up and had the option to take me as his hostage for the second time, he didn't.
"I guess this is the end for the both of you then. The Silver Moon Pack will be in my care, and I'll make sure that your pack members will all submit to me," Siege said with a gentle tone, as if he were feeling a bit sentimental now that he really has to take their lives.
The lives of his precious friends from his childhood.
