Vega and Lyra* Private Room
VEGA*
Jace and I frantically collected our things and ran out to his truck. Once he had helped me inside, Jace ran over to his side, jumped in, and started the truck. He backed out of the driveway and took off down the road.
"I can't believe she is awake. Oh my goodness, we just left the hospital. Why couldn't Lyra have woken up while we were there? I'm so happy, Jace," I said excitedly.
"I know; I'll need to call Tanner and Blaze; they will probably want to come to see her. What do you think?" Jace asked while glancing over at me with a massive grin on his face.
"Well, as much as I would love that, I think we should give it a couple of days. Let's wait until Lyra's comfortable having other visitors. I guess we will all need to get together and move her things down to the guestroom," I said.
Jared has helped my parents and me with ordering and installing rehab equipment in mine and Lyra's gym, but ramps and other things have not been installed. Blaze and Tanner had said they would help with that; however, at this point, I wasn't sure if we would need the ramps. We would need to wait and see.
"I'll call Blaze and Tanner and see if this weekend would be a good time for them. If anything, we could all get together on Sunday after church. However, I'm pretty sure Blaze will be ecstatic. He will want to take time off," Jace said as he got on the Loop.
"Maybe he and Lyra will finally get a chance to meet each other; wouldn't that be great?" I asked, and Jace smiled.
"That would be great, but if I know Blaze, he would want to wait. He will say something about needing to keep his head in the game. Blaze is all about business," Jace said as he shrugged his shoulders.
"I hope Lyra can whip him into shape. He needs a life beyond running the company," I said.
"Good luck to Lyra; she will need it when it comes to Blaze. He's like a brother to me, but all he does is work, work, and more work. Blaze doesn't know how to let loose," Jace said as he pulled up to the doors of the hospital.
Jace opened his door and exited the truck, and then ran over to my side and helped me out.
"I'll let you out here and go look for a parking spot. It looks like I might have to walk quite a ways," Jace said and gave me a quick kiss before running back to his side of the truck and driving off.
It was like I was speed walking to the ICU. I couldn't seem to get to Lyra fast enough. This hospital was massive. Luckily my parents work here, so I knew my way around. For others, it would be easy to get lost.
I've finally made it to the ICU. I see Heather walking out. She craves Jared's attention, but he doesn't seem to give in to her. If I weren't stuck on Lyra and Blaze getting together, I would want Jared for Lyra. He's an incredible man. I see Jared being a lot like Jace. He would most likely do anything to care for and make Lyra happy.
I wave to Heather and run excitedly into Lyras' room. "Lyra, Oh My God, You're awake," I screamed as I ran up to Lyra and hugged her.
I glanced over at Jared, seated in a chair next to her bed. "Thank you so much for calling me," I said and then took my sister into another hug.
"I'm so glad your awake Lyra, I have been so lost without you," I said, and Lyra gave me a confused look.
Suddenly, Lyra started to cry, her heart rate spiked on the heart monitor, and she hyperventilated. Jared moved me out of the way, but before he could say or do anything, Lyra passed out.
"Lyra had a panic attack, and I don't know what caused it. Don't worry; she will come to," Jared told me as he put a breathing mask on Lyra's face.
"Go ahead and sit down. I will get Heather to administer some pain meds and a light sedative to help Lyra calm down. She will wake up in a few moments, don't worry," Jared said as he left the room.
I sat down and grabbed Lyra's hand. "Don't leave me again, Lyra," I said as tears streamed down my face.
***Thirty Minutes Later***
Jared had come back in with Heather just a few minutes later. Lyra's heart rate had already slowed down. Shortly after that, Jace and my parents showed up along with Lyra's other doctors. We had all gone to a small conference room to talk about Lyra's progress and what they felt should happen. They decided to allow her to be moved into a private room once she woke up again. I also thought it would be good for her to stay in the hospital for a month so that Jared could give her the care and physical therapy she needed.
I had mentally slapped myself at the time because my first thought was 'another month in the hospital, that's just freaking perfect.' I know they all want the best for Lyra, as do I, but I miss my sister. I'm ready for her to be home.
We ended our session, and now thirty minutes later, I'm sitting here holding Lyra's hand. My parents had to go back to work, but Jace was here with me. My parents said they would come back to see Lyra after their shift had ended in a couple of hours. Jace and I have been sitting here quietly for about ten minutes now.
"Lyra, if you don't wake up in the next ten minutes, I'm going to go into your subconscious and drag you out," I said commandingly with a smile on my face. That should work. Lyra doesn't like anyone bossing her around.
Me bossing Lyra around did the trick because a couple of minutes later, her hand squeezed mine. She hadn't opened her eyes, though.
"Don't tell me what to do," Lyra whispered, then peeked one eye open and looked at me. She removed the breathing mask from her face and smiled at me.
"Do you want me to get you some more ice chips?" I asked her. Lyra nodded her head, and Jace got up to ask Heather for some and to tell her Lyra was awake again.
"You're going to be moved to a private, more comfortable room soon. Jared is going to swing by once you are settled," I told Lyra.
"How long have I been like this?" Lyra asked as she tried to push herself up and winced in pain.
"A little over a month and a half. Jared has been working on you for about three weeks now. You probably hurt because you haven't moved in quite a while, but he has been coming in and doing exercises on your good arm and leg twice a day," I said.
"I thought it had been longer," Lyra said with a relieved look on her face.
"Do you remember what happened?" I asked her.
"How could I forget some idiot sideswiping my car and then getting trapped in my car," Lyra said quietly with anger in her tone.
Just then, Jace and Heather walked through the door. Jace walked up to Lyra.
"Here you go, Lyra," Jace said as he handed Lyra her ice chips. "I'm so glad your back. We've been missing you like crazy," Jace said and then walked over to the other side of the room to grab a chair. Then he brought the chair over and sat next to me.
"So Lyra, are you ready to get into a more spacious, not so claustrophobic room," Heather said as she checked Lyra's blood pressure.
Lyra just smiled and nodded her head yes. "Alright, then. A nurse from the other floor is headed this way, and we will get you moved," she said.

LYRA*
So here I am, back to reality, and I'm glad. They've got me set up in a pretty nice room. My parents are here, along with Jace and Vega; I'm all caught up on things that have happened over the last month and a half.
Vega seemed ecstatic to talk about her job working with Jace. I will need to go up there and hang out with them every day once I get to where I can get around without a wheelchair. I can't even stand right now. I'm going to work my ass off to get back in shape.
We just got told that a nurse would be coming in about an hour to help me take a shower. So Jace and Vega were about to head back to the house and get me some clothes and all I might need from my bathroom. Vega said that she would bring a couple of days worth of clothes for me. I still don't understand why I have to stay in the hospital for a month. I'm going to get better and be out of here sooner; wait and see.
Shortly after Jace and Vega walked out, Jared strolled in. He was showing off his pearly whites. This man would have his masculine hands on me twice a day. Oh boy...
