Jace and Vega* Gender Reveal Party
JACE*
Vega and Lyra looked at each other with surprise written all over their faces. I could only wonder what was about to go down. Vega and Lyra grinned happily; YES, I did well. I was a bit scared there for a second that I had overstepped in some way.
"This is so wonderful, Jace; I know you are probably thinking WHAT right now since this is coming from me, but I know how much Vega wanted her wedding to be at the Vineyard. I know that I can be a little irrational at times, but this is great for you both, thank you for looking out for Vega," Lyra said as she stood up and hugged Vega.
"It looks like we will need to get a maid of honor dress for you now," Vega said happily and stood and hugged Lyra back. Then Vega walked over to me and hugged me tightly. "Thank you so much, Jace; this is perfect," Vega said, and then her eyes grew wide. "Oh my goodness, we have nothing ready for our wedding, and it is in three weeks. How are we going to get everything ready by then?" Vega asked.
"I know you by the back of my hand Vega. I hired a wedding planner who has gotten everything together over the last couple of months. I have everything the wedding planner has put together so that you and Lyra can go over it all. There's plenty of time to change something if there's something you don't like. Everything but the cakes has been taken care of. In which we have a cake testing tomorrow. All four of us are going to go, so Blaze and Lyra can pick out their cakes as well," I said.
"Wow, Jace, you are amazing; I love you so much," Vega said as she sat back down and started shoveling food into her mouth, and I chuckled.
"I love you too, babe," I said.
I am so happy that Vega and Lyra aren't upset. I had been stressing over this whole thing for two months now. Primarily since Mae had known about it for the last month, I was afraid she might let the surprise slip, but she didn't. I'm stoked; I have a baby on the way; I'm about to get married to my soulmate Vega; the world is my oyster right now.
The one-bedroom apartment Vega and I had been looking into renting was going to be too small. I would need to look into a lovely rent home maybe, or something to buy would be better since Vega and I are starting a family. I'll need to see if I could get Vega to hold off until both weddings are out of the way; I have been reading up on pregnancy, and too much stress is not suitable for the baby or its mother. So looking for a home into the mix is a hard no for right now, with Vega being pregnant. At least she got through the first trimester without dealing with nausea and vomiting, as most women do.
Dr. Stevenson retrieved the birth control implant from Vega's arm and told her to relax for a couple of days. She said that there could be a slight chance that Vega could miscarry but that the chances were very slim. So Lyra has taken notes from school every day and has gone over them with Vega. We also explained to Dr. Stevenson that Vega had been drinking off and on through the previous three months. She didn't seem too concerned, just said no alcohol from this point forth. Dr. Stevenson also noted that the blood results would not be in until Monday, most likely, but we had the receptionist put my Aunt Diana's number down as a contact for those results. I'm sure next weekend there will be a huge baby gender reveal party, and Vega and I wanted to be surprised. All in all, even with the surprise of our baby, life was grand.

I wouldn't say I like cake. I like Dutch Chocolate Cake and Red Velvet cake with buttercream icing. Regular icing makes me sick to my stomach. So there had been several of these cakes that I hadn't even allowed in my mouth. Lyra was diving into every slice available and had yet to decide; she and Blaze are having loads of fun, though. Jace and I had just sat and laughed at them this whole time; simply hilarious watching these two. Blaze used to be so uptight, but now that he and Lyra had been together, Blaze had changed quite a bit. Lyra has changed as well, both of them for the better. In the end, Blaze and Lyra decided on a chocolate cake with chocolate icing decorated with strawberries. At least I would be able to eat the strawberries off of Lyra's cake, no harm, no foul, it's not my cake, so I can't wine too much.

I usually love to go shopping; it's my way of relieving stress and letting go. Right now, I wanted to say screw the damn maid of honor dress and brides maid's dress. Mae had met up with us, and we had shopped three stores so far looking for a bridesmaid dress for her and a maid of honor dress for Lyra. Lyra was typically the indecisive one, but I was taking the reigns today. Ever since I saw my little alien beans heartbeat, my body had done a one-eighty. It's only been three days, but all of a sudden, I was so exhausted I could barely hold my head up. It felt as though the tiny creature was sucking the life out of me. Stupid prenatal vitamins hadn't given me the energy I thought they would. If I don't drink enough water, I get nauseated. My boobs felt like hundred-pound weights, and the pain radiating from them was utter hell. I thought being pregnant was supposed to be a beautiful thing; I don't feel so glorious.
"Those two dresses that you both have on now will be perfect. If not, would you mind dropping me off at home and coming back? I trust you both to pick out the best dresses, but I'm about to pass out in this chair; the couch at home is calling my name. Some water would be nice as well before I throw up all over this floor," I said.
"Yeah, you look a little flushed. Mae, let's get these off and come back. Would that be ok with you?" Lyra asked Mae as she hurried into the stall to change.
"Yes, of course, I have the whole day off," Mae said as she went to change.

"What's wrong with her," I asked Lyra with concern.
Vega had fallen asleep in the car, and Lyra couldn't wake her. So Lyra had ran into the house to get me. I had cradled Vega in my arms and had laid her down on the couch.
"We were shopping for dresses, and she started complaining of being tired, and she fell asleep in the car," Lyra said as we both fused over Vega.
"Vega love, can you wake up for me. I know you are tired, but Lyra and I need to know that you are ok," I said as I wiped Vega's hair from her face.
"I'm fine; I'm just thirsty, nauseous, and tired. Can you get me some water?" Vega asked Lyra.
Lyra went straight to the kitchen and got Vega some fresh cold water from the water jug. Then swiftly made her way back to Vega and handed her the water.
"The little creature is just sucking the life out of me is all. I'm not cramping or anything, so don't worry. I need to rest, if you guys don't mind," Vega said as she took sips from her water.
"You guys go ahead, and I'll stay here with her," I said as I crawled in behind Vega and switched on the television. Vega and I have needed some cuddle time anyway, and Blaze was off with Tanner, so this was perfect.
Lyra and Mae took off, and Vega and I watched an episode of the walking dead while she sipped on her water, and then we both passed out on the couch for a couple of hours.
***One Week Later*** Gender Reveal***
***VEGA***
I made it through the week, but barely; I've never thrown up since I found out I was pregnant, and I quickly realized ginger ale and water were my best companions in combating my nausea. I have started craving oranges and pickles, so we don't have a shortage of those at the house.
The doctor's office had called Jace's Aunt Diana on Tuesday to let her know the gender of the baby, so she and mom had been preparing for the gender reveal party all week. My mom and Diana had not given anything away. There are pink and blue decorations everywhere.
My mom and Diana had everyone place votes into a glass to see everyone's thoughts on what the gender would be. My mom had announced that a baby boy had gotten the most votes; Jace was hoping for a girl, but I want a boy.
Diana then made everyone get into teams of team boy and team girl. Each team had to come up with a name for each letter of the alphabet; boy names for the boy team, and girls names for the girl's team. Each team had only five minutes to come up with names. The team with the most names at the end of five minutes would win a twenty-five-dollar gift certificate card to Target for each person on the team. In the end, the girl's team won, and Jace and Lyra leaped excitedly around the room along with the nine others on their team.
We then had some snacks and drinks before going on to the main reveal game. We all watched as dad and the guys pinned balloons along the quark board that had been placed on the wall. Diana placed darts on a table across from the balloons.
I went first, and my dart didn't hit not one balloon; of course, my aim was horrible even on the best days. The guys let all of us girls go first. Mae was the only one who hit a balloon, it burst open, and blue and pink confetti went everywhere. Then the guys started taking turns, each hitting a balloon, and each one had blue and pink confetti that flew around the room. It got down to only five balloons that remained. So Jace and I started throwing darts at each balloon. I finally hit one, and everyone in the room clapped and cheered excitedly.
