Vega's Big Day
VEGA*
Everyone clapped and cheered excitedly as blue confetti blasted out of the balloon and rained down on the tarp that covered the floor.
The little alien bean is a boy," I screamed in excitement as Jace ran over to pick me up and kiss me.
"A little mini-me is going to be running around pretty soon; How exciting is that, everyone?" Jace cried and hugged me tightly in his arms.
"Time for cake," Mom and Diana yelled as they ran off and returned carrying a large blue cake and set it on the table, which held all of the snacks and drinks. Where did they have that monstrous cake hiding?
By the end of it all, I was utterly exhausted and hungry for some real food, so Jace took me out on a dinner date while everyone else stayed behind to help Diana clean up. Dr. Stevenson had told me the exhaustion should go away once I hit the fourth month of pregnancy. So hopefully, in a couple more weeks, I'll have more energy.
I was craving McAlister's, so here we were, and I'm m eating my usual. A McAlister's sandwich and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup. Their sweet tea is to die for, and I know I'm not supposed to be drinking much caffeine, but I couldn't resist getting one.
I placed a hand on my belly, where my baby boy grew. "Sorry, baby boy, I had to have a sweet tea; I'm having caffeine withdrawal," I said, and Jace chuckled next to me.
Jace wasn't hungry, so he ordered himself a bowl of soup and lemonade. It was only four o'clock in the afternoon, and Jace had chowed down on all of the party food that mom and Diana provided at the party. The party food consisted of simple things like pigs on a blanket, cheese and cracker platters, veggie and fruit platters, and so on. Even though it was simple party food, there wasn't a food shortage for everyone.
Nothing had jumped out at me, though, saying, eat me, if you know what I mean. I had some veggies and fruit, but that hadn't been filling at all. Hence the reason why we were here at McAlister's. That and the fact that I have become incredibly picky about what I eat now for some reason. Certain things didn't taste the same anymore, which wasn't normal for me because I used to love all foods before I found out I was pregnant. Thank God what Im eating now is freaking fantastic, or I would cry.
I will be honest I have been craving healthy food like veggies and fruit, so I have been snacking continuously throughout the day, every day. Even though I feel so tired, I love being pregnant so far, even though I pretty much went through the whole first trimester without even realizing I was pregnant.
If it hadn't been for Kathleen pointing out that I had gained weight, I probably would have ended up on that television show "I didn't know I was pregnant" until I was in labor or something. That show's crazy; I now understand those women in that show when before I hadn't. All I had were mood swings.
Jace finished his soup and grinned at me happily as I savored each bite. No doubt he was getting a rise out of hearing me moan and lick my lips after each bite. Jace placed a hand on my belly and nuzzled my hair with his nose. "You are so beautiful, my love. I can't wait until our baby boy starts moving in your belly; I'm so excited I can't see straight. In June, we can start looking for a house and start painting and getting the baby's room ready, " Jace said.
"Why wait until June? I'm ready to start searching for a home now," I said.
"With school and getting ready for our wedding and Lyra and Blaze's wedding coming up as well, it's all too much stress. No. It's best to wait until after the weddings are out of the way and you are on leave from school. Finish eating Vega, and we will talk more about it once we get home," Jace said.
***ONE WEEK LATER***
"Thank you so much, Kathleen, for everything; my dress is exquisite, and it fits perfectly," I said happily.
"You are going to look so beautiful walking down the aisle, Vega," Kathleen said.
"Vega has that pregnancy glow about her that makes her even more beautiful. I can't wait to be an aunt," Lyra said as she walked up and hugged me tightly.
"Yeah, and when are you and Blaze going to contribute to making grandchildren," I said as I got down from the pedestal.
"Nope, you have that covered. I'm good for at least nine months or so," Lyra said, and I smacked her on her shoulder playfully.
I understood where Lyra was coming from; Lyra wanted to wait until she was closer to graduating. God throws us obstacles, though, and it's up to us to live life to the fullest as it comes along. I know that I will have to work that much harder to reach my goal. The rehabilitation hospital has yet to break ground. We had found the location and have bought the land, but Blaze and my dad were still jumping hurdles.

"Vega, hurry up; our hair and makeup appointments are in thirty minutes. You are going to be late for your wedding," Lyra screamed through the door.
"I'm coming," I answered back as I got up from the bed. I had been ready for thirty minutes now but had been sitting here on the bed praying. I was praying that everything would go smoothly today. Not because I have cold feet, I knew that Jace was my one and only, but because I felt everything had been rushed. Lyra and Blaze have been working with Jace every step of the way, so I knew I needed to have faith. I shouldn't be stressed. It shouldn't matter how everything worked out as long as I married the love of my life, and my loved ones were there to witness it, right? At least Lyra, Mae, and I had gotten our nails out of the way a couple of nights ago after school.

"Alright, girl's what will we be doing with your hair today? I suggest a half-updo, with a rose tied up in the center. Since you all have such long wavy beautiful hair, you should show it off. Mae, I could do the same hairdo with your hair even though it's straight, we could use a curling iron, and it would still look just as gorgeous," Dalia, our hairstylist, said, and the other two stylists Amber, and Stephanie, nodded their heads in agreement.
"Sounds like a plan to me. What about you two? Do you all like this one?" I asked as we all looked at the image before us in one of Dalia's bridal hairstyle magazines.
"That's beautiful; I think it's perfect, let's go with this style," Mae said, and Lyra nodded in agreement.
Dalia dove into styling my hair as Stephanie worked on Lyra's and Amber tended to Mae's hair. Once done, they all worked quickly to apply our makeup. I have never worn this much makeup in my life, but it looked beautiful as I glanced at myself in the mirror.
It was at that time that we all heard a knock at the door, and mom and Diana walked in carrying all of our dresses. Lyra and Mae grabbed their dresses from Diana and walked to the bathroom that connected to the bridal suite.
Mom and Diana came over with my dress and started helping me climb into the monstrous dress. What was I thinking? Oh yeah, I wanted to be a princess. I didn't go with the traditional white dress. I choose to go with pink since it's my favorite color. Lyra scoffed when I chose pink, but the color grew on her. It's not her wedding dress anyway, right. My wedding dress has off-the-shoulder straps with a V neckline that shows off my now more giant, rounder pregnancy boobs. My dress is nothing short of extraordinarily gorgeous. My dress is puffy with silk and lace and a train that goes out a couple of yards. My mom and Diana worked feverishly to get the train straightened out. They gasped at the beauty before them.
"Oh, Vega; Your dress is gorgeous, sweetheart. Oh my goodness, I have never seen a wedding dress like this. Jace is going to pass out when he sees you coming down that aisle," mom said as happy tears formed in her eyes. I was about to follow and cry myself, but Diana stopped me.
"You don't want to mess up your makeup, dear. Your mom is right though, that dress is gorgeous but not as beautiful as the woman wearing it. I pretty much raised Jace as if he were my son; I can say that yes, most likely he will pass out," Diana said, and we all laughed.
There was a knock at the door, and dad walked in all spiffed out in a tuxedo. "Where are Lyra and Mae; It is time to begin?" Dad asked.
"I'll get them, Richard; they are in the bathroom. Vega, don't forget to put your heels on," Diana said as she handed my heels to my mom and walked to the bathroom to get Lyra and Mae.
JACE*
Most men get cold feet on their wedding day, not me. I'm just ready to get this wedding over with, so I can make love to my wife and soon-to-be mother of my child. I would need to make sure the wedding planner gets paid double; she did an excellent job ensuring everything was perfect for today.
A professional band played off to the side as guests strolled down the makeshift aisle. White chairs decorated with grapevines lined each other in rows to each side. I was currently underneath a white arch adorned with grapevines. It was incredible; Vega was going to freak out. Vega decided she wanted everything to be a surprise, so she had absolutely no idea about anything but the cakes and food at the reception. The vineyard stretched all around us; I can't explain how beautiful it was as the sun started to descend from the sky. Tanner and Blaze stood next to me, also in awe of the scenery.
The music changed, and Lyra walked down the aisle in a beautiful long white dress. Blaze looked as if he might pass out. We're both the luckiest guys on the planet. Then Mae walked down the aisle in a dress similar to Lyra's but somewhat different. Tanner's mouth dropped open, and then he quickly shut it. Mae is an Asian beauty, and she has Tanner by the balls. They are perfect for each other.
A moment later, the wedding March came on, and everyone rose from their seats, and Vega stepped into sight with Richard. I have never seen something so gorgeous in my life as my soon-to-be wife walking down the aisle in a beautiful pink wedding gown. My mind went fuzzy, and I could barely breathe. Vega was breathtaking; I could die right now, my God; I'm so blessed to have this beautiful woman in my life. Blazing fire flowed through my body. I suddenly wished we weren't having a reception afterward.
Vega glides towards me as if she were an angel taking flight. Oh, how I loved this woman with every cell in my body. Richard bent down and kissed Vega on the forehead and then placed her hand in mine. Richard smiled and winked at me as he turned, walked off, and sat next to Rebecca.
We went through the traditional wedding vows, and Vega and I both had tears in our eyes as I kissed her with all of the fierce passion I could muster. There were cheers in the background, but I couldn't let Vega go. Time seemed to have stopped, and Vega was the one to break the kiss.
We went off with the wedding party to take photos, which seemed to last forever. I took Vega up to change into a more comfortable dress. I could tell that her wedding gown was weighing her down, and she needed to get it off.
We made a quick go of it while we were in the room because neither one of us could wait until we got home to make love. Then we returned to eat with everyone else, and everyone took turns toasting Vega and me. Some of these speeches were outright hilarious.
By the time we cut the cake and danced to a few songs, I could tell that Vega had had enough. So I made sure she could dance with Richard for the father-daughter dance. We went around giving hugs and thanked people for coming.
Vega threw her wedding bouquet, and Mae caught it. Tanner and Mae both flushed. I guess we all know who's next after Blaze and Lyra.
My baby fell asleep on the drive home, and she was dead to the world. There was no waking her. So I carried her through the threshold and took her up to our bedroom. I pulled back the duvet and laid her down. I took her shoes and clothes off, and Vega slept through the whole process. It's ok; we have our entire lives to make love, and we had each other earlier anyway. I took my clothes off, went to the restroom, and brushed my teeth. Then I climbed into bed next to my love. It didn't take me long to fall asleep next to her.
