Blaze and Lyra* Surprise Surprise
BLAZE*
When I saw Lyra walking down the aisle glowing with happiness for Vega, it did me in; I thought I might burn alive with the intense heat coursing through my body. She looked gorgeous in that floor-length white gown: my angel, my love, my life, my everything.
I got a bit confused when Mae walked out in a similar white dress until Vega walked in with a giant pink wedding gown that two of her could fit in. Then I understood why Lyra and Mae were wearing white gowns. Everyone was in awe of Vega, but I couldn't keep my eyes off of my love. I kept thinking of the vows I soon would be saying myself. I wondered what Lyra's dress would look like if Vega's dress weren't the traditional white wedding dress. Would Lyra's dress be silver, blue, or maybe even green? With Lyra skies, the limit, she is extraordinary in every way and unconventional, but that's what I love about her.
As I twirled Lyra around and we danced and swayed to the music the band played, I couldn't help but think of how it would be at our wedding. I felt selfish because I knew this day was Vega's and Jace's day, but I couldn't help it. I am truly happy for Vega and Jace, though. They looked perfect for each other in every way.
I'll never forget Tanner's face when Mae caught Vega's bouquet. Happiness and sheer terror coursed through his face all in one blow. Poor guy, after what his ex-girlfriend of nine years did to him, I doubt he would ever want to propose to anyone. Mae is good for him, though, and she has not given herself to him yet. Hell, they aren't even exclusive yet, but neither one of them was dating other people. They have been dating for six months now; I need to sit down and have a talk with Tanner. Mae is not someone that he wants slipping from his fingers.
I went up to the bridal suite to help Lyra pack up Vega's dress and get the rest of their belongings, and now we were headed towards their parent's house.
"Vega's wedding was exquisite, wasn't it, Blaze; she had no complaints, and her wedding dress, other than the fact that it was pink, was just wow, is all I can say. I've seen it a few times when we went to fittings, but seeing her actually in the dress and all dolled up was something else," Lyra said as her emerald green eyes sparkled with happiness.
"Yes, Vega and Jace's wedding was divine, but I couldn't keep my eyes off of my angel for a minute. I kept thinking about our wedding and how I wish we could elope. I'm ready for us to claim each other in every way," I said as I reached over and grabbed Lyra's hand.
"Your mom and my parents would kill us for sure. I wish we could but no. We already have everything set for our wedding. We could see about having our wedding sooner. Vega and Mae need to get dresses; mine is ready. Other than that, everything is golden," Lyra said.
"Are you sure, Lyra? I mean, I know how much a woman puts into her wedding day, and I don't want to take anything from you?" I asked.
"Does it matter? As long as Vega is there and our immediate families, I don't care when we get married. I'm ready to jump on that bandwagon now. The venue is in our backyard; I think we should get married whenever we want. I think the only issue we may have is the preacher, but these days anyone can get a certificate online. I'm just saying, why not get everything together and get married in a couple of weeks," Lyra said and shrugged her shoulders.
"Well, if that is what you want and you are fine with getting married a whole month early, I'm fine with that," I said as I turned into the driveway to Lyra's parent's house.
"Great, we might as well tell them now while we are here, and then hurry on to the hotel. I think it's about time we start looking for our place. Let Jace and Vega have the house since they are already expecting," Lyra said.
"Well, that's all fine and dandy, but I don't think either one of them wants to stay there, and I have a house out in the country being built for us," I cringed as I gave away a surprise Jace and I have been holding in since February. Not so easy when you are used to telling the woman you love everything.
"You what?" Lyra said and gaped at me like I had grown two heads.
"It has been completed for a week now. I have the utilities on. We can go see the house now if you would like," I asked.
"You built us a house; isn't that something we are supposed to figure out together? I mean, wow, ok, sorry I just, yes, let's go see the house after talking to my parents," Lyra said, somewhat mumbling to herself and not talking to me. Is she mad? I'm sure Lyra will love it, and if there is something she wants to change, we will renovate; no big deal, right?
I got down from the truck and walked over to help Lyra climb down. We gathered Vega's dress and walked up to the house. Lyra knocked on the door, and we waited for Richard to answer. Richard opened the door with a big grin on his face.
"You guys got here just in time; we were about to head to bed. Ten thirty is late for us," Richard said.
"I'm sorry, dad, we have been here for a while; we were talking outside. Blaze and I have some news. Can you get mom; Blaze and I will hang up Vega's dress," Lyra said as I shook hands with Richard.
"Yes, I will get her," Richard said and walked off.
Lyra and I walked to Vega's old room and hung her dress in the closet.
"Are you mad at me?" I asked Lyra.
"Sort of, I mean not really, I'm just surprised, is all. I just thought looking for a house or anything like that would have been something we would have done together. It's ok, though. I'm sure that I will love it; we both have a lot of the same taste," Lyra said as we walked to the living room.
"I'm sorry, Lyra, I didn't think about that. I just wanted to surprise you and give you an early wedding present. Jace did warn me about the fact, but I was so excited," I said.
"It's fine, Blaze, we will talk about it later after we talk to my parents ok," she said as we sat on the sofa and waited for her parents. I would have to say Lyra is indeed upset. I guess I see her point though, getting a home together is a big deal, and I just bulldozed that milestone for us. I'm upset at myself now.
Richard and Rebecca came in and sat across from us in the love seat. "So, are you pregnant as well?" Rebecca asked with a wide grin on her face.
"Gosh, no, mom. Not for a few more months, at least. Don't jinx me. No, Blaze and I want to jump up our wedding. We want to get married in two weeks," Lyra said, and Rebecca smiled and nodded her head.
"They are like us, Richard, and can't wait to tie the knot. I'm sure we can get everything figured out. What do you think, dear?" Rebecca asked Richard.
"Whatever makes you all happy, in a case like this, I don't think my opinion counts," Richard said and then chuckled.
"Ok, thank you, mom and dad," Lyra said, and we all got up from our seats.
"Such a pleasant surprise; I guess we will be having a wedding in two weeks instead of a month and a half from now. We will get it all worked out," Rebecca said as we all hugged each other and said our goodbyes.
I prayed earnestly to the house that Lyra would love it and not kick me to the curb. What do I do if Lyra doesn't like the place? Put it up for sale and start over. I could be such an idiot sometimes.
LYRA*
I can't believe Blaze just went and built a house without consulting me about anything. When you get a house built, you must choose everything, down to the bricking you want. I didn't get a choice in anything, but what do I do. I'm so surprised I don't know how I should feel or act. Am I being irrational? I tend to be that way quite often.
After driving down several backroads, and what seemed to have taken forever, we finally arrived at the house Blaze had built for us. I guess it is kind of hot thinking about the fact that his hands helped build this house. Wait, no, it's not a house. It's a mansion. The damn thing is gigantic; who all is going to live in that thing. I can't see the outside because it's dark, which is fine. Blaze has unlocked the front door and is trying to usher me inside.
Blaze turned on some lights, and I was hit with yet another surprise. There wasn't any flooring, except for the concrete below our feet. Other than the bare walls up, I couldn't figure out what room I was standing in right now. My eyes went wide, and my mouth hung open.
"Cats got your tongue, love?" Blaze asked and chuckled.
"What, I mean, how..?" I trailed off.
"It's up to you to figure out what flooring you want, paint, cabinets, and so on. Did you think I would do it all without asking you first? Also, there's no bricking on the outside. We need to decide on that pretty quickly. We should come back tomorrow after church," Blaze said with a smile.
"So we both get to decide on everything together? How many rooms are there?" I asked excitedly. This is freaking awesome.
"There are five rooms other than the master suite. So six rooms in all, and each room has its bathroom and walk-in closet. There is also a game room and a room for a gym. Skies the limit, and we should get to work on everything quickly. Oh, I forgot, we built a mother-in-law house out back for your parents when they aren't traveling. Nothing huge, just a Master Suite with a master bath, huge bathroom, and walk-in closet. They will have a kitchen, dining, and living room," Blaze said.
I had no words. All I could do was throw my hands behind Blaze's neck and bring him in for a kiss.
"So you are not mad at me anymore?" Blaze asked.
"No, not at all; This is going to be so much fun," I screamed.
