"STATUS: ENGAGED"
"ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED?" Mama Cecille's tone of voice was happy but the shock that Lana was expecting was not there so she was the really surprised one.
"That's all you're going to say, Mama?" unable to bear it she even asked at the same time as the inadvertent meeting of her eyebrows.
Her Mama Cecille laughed then shifted her gaze to her and Andrew who was smiling while listening to their conversation. "What reaction are you expecting from me, Lana? Don't you like it like this? I'm really happy and that is the truth?” she said. "My granddaughter will finally be able to experience how it is to have a whole family. What other reaction is needed but to be happy?" her aunt continued.
Lana couldn't speak there and instead glanced at Andrew who was next to her on the long sofa while Andrea was sleeping soundly in her room at that time.
"I give you my blessing, I hope and want you to be happy because you made the right decision," Mama Cecille's last words were meaningful although Lana didn't get what it meant.
Lana was surprised when suddenly Andrew grabbed her hand tightly then kissed it after the gentle squeeze. The man was not satisfied with that because he then pulled her closer to him and then kissed her head.
"I'll take care of Lana, and I'll do everything to make her happy with me," he said, hanging the other things that he wanted to say for a while as he slightly distanced himself from her.
Lana automatically looked up at the young man so their eyes met. And just like before when that happens to them, the young lady’s heartbeat immediately becomes fast.
"I will do everything for her and Andrea," Andrew said as their eyes remained to stare at her.
Lana could not speak at what she heard. She was also not sure if it was because of Andrew's powerful eye contact or because of her deafening heartbeat that quickly warmed the young lady’s eyes. But as usual, she tried to control her emotions, and she succeeded.
"Now, I'll leave you and I'll go to sleep. It's nine o'clock and it's not good for me to be awake at this hour," her aunt followed what she said with a weak laugh.
"All right Mama," Lana replied.
"By the way, when do you plan to get married?" Mama Cecille asked after her.
Andrew answered the old woman's question. "In two weeks, Mama," he said with a smile looking at her afterward.
Her aunt nodded. "All right, I'm going to sleep," she said, her tone of voice remained lively.
Silence fell upon them a moment later. While Lana remained leaning on Andrew's shoulder who hugged her tightly.
"Can I sleep here? Even just tonight?" moments later Andrew broke the silence with his soothing voice.
Andrew's question touched Lana's heart so the young lady automatically smiled. "You can't, then you'll just have to wait a few days, won't you?" she said letting go of her being leaned on the young man's shoulder.
Andrew laughed softly, put his hand on her chin then he bent down and gently kissed her on the lips.
Lana sighed violently at the young man's kiss. Slowly but deeply and gradually that ignites every fiber on her body. That's why she wasn't surprised for a while she just found herself responding with a passionate kiss to the man.
"I can't wait to always have you beside me, Lana," Andrew said as he released her lips then and an admiring look hit her face.
The young lady smiled and then caressed the handsome face of the man she used to see only on the television screen. But now he is the father of her child and will soon be her husband. She still couldn't believe it when she thought about it. But it’s true, and she’s not just fantasizing.
"All of this I know you're doing is for our daughter, so I'm very happy. Because I know this is what Andrea wants," it's too late to take it back.
Andrew nodded then he quickly released her. "Yeah, you even told me once that there's nothing you can't do for our daughter."
The young lady could not understand but suddenly she seemed to have sensed intense bitterness at what Andrew had said. Then she stood up and headed for the door. That was when Lana quickly complied.
"Andrew!" she called after the young man and then held his hand.
The young man turned to her without a word. Their sight met and as a result, she had the opportunity to see the strange kind of resentment and sadness in Andrew's beautiful and deep blue eyes.
"I'm leaving," he said.
Lana couldn't understand why there seemed to be some fear in her heart at Andrew's simple answer. So along with the vibration of fear, she tightened her grip on the man's hand.
"No!" like the emotion that she saw draw on Andrew’s face, she too was shocked by what was said.
"W-What?" he eyes as his eyebrows knit.
The nervousness in Lana's chest intensified because, in a flash, she felt her brain lose the capacity to think. Moreover, she could not deny that she was really affected by the sadness and resentment she also saw in Andrew’s eyes.
"D-Didn't you say you want to sleep here? If it is okay with you, just sleep next to our daughter," she thought after a while.
As much as she said that the sadness and resentment quickly disappeared from Andrew's eyes. Instead, it was replaced by a strange kind of excitement, and that radiance intensified, even more, when he smiled.
"Really? Are you sure?" he asked in his usual kind tone.
Lana's smile widened. Then she nodded in succession and without a word, she hugged Andrew tightly. She couldn't understand but she suddenly felt she needed the young man's hug.
So with that thought, her grip on him became even tighter and later the man reciprocated with a tighter hug.
"Stay here, don't leave us yet. Please?" she whispered then rested her cheek to Andrew’s massive and muscular chest.
