I sat in silence with my sister Maria in the kitchen. We listened to the radio more than nervously. The spokesman for the local werewolf government was giving a speech there. This was about the revolt of the people.
This took place 13 years ago. The people of this town rebelled against the werewolves and took to the streets. But the werewolves brooked no resistance. They counterattacked and brought it to a quick end. Many people were killed or seriously injured. Including many people who were just around and had nothing to do with the revolt.
Like my parents and I for example. Maria, who was six years older than me, was staying with a friend and I was on my way to pick her up with my parents. It was pure chaos outside and suddenly we were attacked by several werewolves. One bit my neck and injured my vocal cords. But that wasn't even the worst of it. My parents, whom I loved dearly, were killed by the werewolves. After that, everything went black in my memories.
The next time I woke up, I was lying in the human hospital and in front of me was my sister, crying. The injury to my neck made it impossible for me to speak. Maybe someone could have helped me somewhere, but the hospital was so poorly equipped that there was nothing they could do. During this time I had to put up with a lot. I have often suffered from quite severe pain. Pain that shouldn't be felt by the age of four.
But back to the here and now. The government spokesman spoke of the incredible things that people had allowed themselves to do. But then he stopped and took a short break. And what he said made me tremble. "But even during the brief uprising, there were some innocent casualties among the people. Though they are few, they have been wronged. The government will compensate these people and people who are still injured will be taken to werewolf facilities where they will be helped thanks to the better equipment. There are people at your place at this point to pick you up..." My sister and I just didn't pay attention. We both had the same question in our minds, 'Are you going to get me?' It's clear that you couldn't choose. When you come will they take the people with them. You can't defend yourself either, after all they were werewolves.
Maria jumped up as if stung by a tarantula and ran to my room. I quickly followed her. She had dragged a bag from my closet and was hastily packing my things. "You're going to have to get out of here for a few days, Lily. At least as long as they're looking for you. You have to hurry to get out of here as soon as possible.” When she was done, Maria handed me the bag and pulled me by my arm towards the door. Just as my sister was about to open the door, there was a knock It.
We stood in front of the door as if frozen. There was another knock on the door, but more energetically.
"Open the door!" a male voice called from the other side of the door, "We know you're there. Open the door or we'll break it open!" We were finally able to free ourselves from our rigidity. Panicked, I looked at my older sister, but she just wordlessly pulled me into a hug. I clutched my sister's top when I heard her the door was broken open.
We were torn apart. Several men were standing around us and it was clear that each of them was a werewolf. A werewolf with a clipboard stood in the doorway and started talking, "Hello ladies. We're here on behalf of the government to transfer Lily Wilson to a werewolf medical facility. Oh they packed a bag? You can leave them here, we will take care of them. Geoffrey would you?" The speaker pointed at me, one of the men came up to me and took out a syringe. I looked anxiously at my sister, who was trying to free herself from the grip of another wolf in order to somehow help me "But the needle had already been rammed into my arm. I pulled my face forward in pain. I quickly realized how the remedy was working. After only a few minutes I could no longer stand on my feet, I collapsed and while the world blurred before my eyes, the werewolf who was holding me before grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder. The last thing I saw was the floor of the hallway in front of our apartment.
I've been in this hospital for a few days now. In a place where I was just one of the few people. From further away it would probably not be noticed. But the closer a werewolf came, the more uncomfortable you felt as a human.
Actually, I'm not someone who quickly had prejudices. But it was a werewolf's fault that I couldn't speak anymore. They took my sister and my parents away, werewolves oppress us humans and restrict our freedom.
The doctors and nurses were all werewolves, of course. It felt like every hour one of them came into the room where I was lying alone.
They had tried to examine me, but I gave myself tooth and nail. Surely, if they had wanted to, they could have examined me anyway. But they left me alone for a while. You could tell that they didn't think it was great to treat people here. They must have just tried anyway, since it must have been an order from the top, from the Alpha of Alphas. I didn't understand what all this was supposed to be about, before that guy didn't care about us humans either.
The door opened for the repeated time that day. A nurse walked in, placed a tray of food on the table, and left without even looking at me. I got up and sat in the chair that was in front of the table that had my meal on it. A bowl of vegetable soup, two slices of bread and a fruit salad for dessert.
Certainly the werewolves were fed very different things here, but I honestly had to admit that the food here was a lot better than what we were allotted as rations.
All alone, like in the last few days, I started to eat. It tasted the same as it had over the past few days. It had been pretty much the same, too. When I was done, I just stayed in the chair. I had no other way to keep myself busy than staring out the window.
There was nothing here except the bare essentials. I couldn't really ask for a book or something similar and I didn't dare leave the room. Especially after the loud screams of a woman and growls of werewolves could be heard in the hallway yesterday. The noise lasted for a few minutes and then there was dead silence for hours.
Half an hour later another nurse entered the room. She took the tablet out again, but seemed stressed, unlike the woman in front of it. She even left the door open so I had the opportunity to take a look into the hallway. I got up and made my way to the door, but stayed in the doorway.
There was little activity in the hallway, here and there nurses scurrying down the hallway, all looking stressed. Another woman quickly mopped the floor and quickly disappeared around the next corner.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, footsteps and a few voices sounded in the hallway. There did appear to be some individuals moving in that direction. Shortly thereafter, I was able to begin to understand what was being said. "How do people behave here, Doctor?" asked a domineering-sounding woman. "Oh, Luna, many don't want to be treated by us and are fighting us with all their might," said a doctor who's already trying had to force me to undergo treatment. "Then why don't you let them go home if they don't want to?", replied another male person. "Because the alpha of the first pack demands that we make things right. After all, there are innocent people here and there been hit." the woman grumbled. ,, But is that the right way mother?" asked the latter while the group came around the corner and I caught a glimpse of them. I was spotted pretty quickly too and the doctor frowned in displeasure. The woman didn't look too much either enthusiastically in my direction. Only the third person, a young man, seemed petrified for a moment. But his rigidity quickly broke. He began to growl loudly and the word "mate" left his mouth. The young man began to move in my direction, almost running. Only the third person, a young man, seemed petrified for a moment. But his rigidity quickly dissolved. I frantically thought about what to do now. Without thinking about it any longer, I slammed the door to my room and ran into my bathroom to lock myself there, since it was the only room I could lock.
There was a loud bang, the man had smashed the door into the room.
