I leaned my back against the locked bathroom door. I heard the strange werewolf growl in the room. I knew he could easily break down that door and waited for the moment when it would happen. But nothing happened. The growling also stopped. I had hope that the werewolf was gone and I was alone now. But that wasn't the case, I realized at the latest when there was a knock on the door.
"Open the door, little one!" It came from the other side. I pressed myself even more against the door, trembling. "Answer me at least!" The command sounded from the other side of the door. "Excuse me, the girl won't answer, she is mute," came the voice of a nurse. "WHAT!" the first female voice cried out again: "What an unworthy person should my firstborn's companion be be. No, I don't allow that. She would be an embarrassment to the family and the pack. And just think about your future position son." "Mother calm down. The moon decided so and tied this bond. And if the moon wants, one day she will be able to speak again or not hurt her as an innocent little child. We werewolves are guilty of this. I agree with you, however, mother, it will be an embarrassment. Not triggered by her, but by us werewolves doing this to her. So you would leave us alone now.", the young man spoke quite calmly and shortly afterwards the other participants seemed to really leave.
There was a knock again. "Come on little one, open the door. Nothing will happen to you. I will protect you from anyone who wants you bad, I promise. Please don't be scared, all you have to do is trust me and everything will be fine." Does this guy think I'm stupid? Why would I trust a complete stranger. Especially after he's banged on the door instead of like any normal person He's also a werewolf, which is reason enough not to listen to him and bar the door.
"Okay, then I'll just wait. We both know you can't stay in there forever." he said after I hadn't even moved for a few minutes. I sat on the floor but still leaned against the door. What should I do now? "He was in the room and I locked myself in here. There was no window in the bathroom and even if there was one I'd be on the third floor. It would be suicidal if I tried to climb down. But that option was there." neither.
What felt like two hours later, I began to have doubts. Maybe I should go outside. It was starting to get ridiculous. I was sitting here and the werewolf was still in the room. In between I could hear him walking across the room. In any case, he didn't try to get me to come out anymore and made no attempt to break open the door. I was realizing more and more that I couldn't stay in here forever. And as the saying goes: Better an end with horror than horror without end. Kind of ironic considering I hid here terrified because he scared me. Well maybe not ironic, but just a sign of fate or something like that.
I took a deep breath in and out, got up and took a sip of water from the sink. I turned to the door, from which I was less than two steps away. You couldn't hear a single sound from the room. I went to the door and was about to unlock it, but I hesitated. Was that really a good idea? Probably not, but I didn't want to keep hiding like a coward. I turned the key in the lock, this time the resulting noise sounded much louder than usual.
There was still silence on the other side. I opened the door and my first glance was at the other door, which was back in its original position. But my gaze quickly darted further through the room. There he sat, on the hospital bed, smiling at me. "Hey little one." He said. I stayed in my position as if frozen.
"It's okay little one. Would you like to sit down?" he asked, pointing to the chair in front of the table: "Then we can talk first." He kept his smile the whole time and somehow that calmed me down. I slowly moved to sit in the chair. However, I always kept an eye on the stranger. It sure looked silly as I almost snuck up to that chair, but he didn't even make a face, but he never took his eyes off me either.
I sat down and continued to look at the young man. "Oh yeah, I'm Tyler, by the way.", he introduced himself. I just kept watching him, I couldn't answer that and I was a bit suspicious of what he wanted from me. "So... .", it came from him again: "All this is certainly confusing and believe me, I had imagined our first meeting differently." He scratched the back of his head. I looked at him confused. Did I miss something? Me reviewing everything and getting stuck on a word said by this hysterical woman who must have been his mother, 'companion.' The word echoed through my head a few times.
I must have just turned deathly pale in the face, which was also noticed by my counterpart. "Are you all right little one? You're so pale, aren't you feeling well?"
Oh man, he thinks that I'm his companion. Several doctors had assured me that no werewolf would be interested in me because I'm mute. So I never had to any events of the werewolves, like my sister Maria.
If she had to go to something like that, I was always afraid that I would never see her again. Now I won't either.
It is common knowledge among us that companions of werewolves never see their families again. It is said that otherwise there would be problems. In my opinion, it's just cruel to separate people so strictly from each other. Unfortunately, you have no choice, at least not as a human being.
"Hey..." I startled out of my thoughts. Tyler had squatted on the floor in front of me. I looked at him, startled. "It's all good, nothing will happen to you. But you don't seem comfortable here to feel. If you don't mind, we would go now."
He got up and went to the door. My gaze followed him, confused. Tyler opened the room door, in front of which stood a nurse who handed him something. "Get me your medical records.", he asked the nurse, who also turned around to get them for him.
When he turned back to me, my heart stopped for a moment. In his hand was a syringe with, for me, questionable contents. He came my way again. I jumped up and wanted to create space between the two of us, but with inhuman speed he stood in front of me and held me tight.
"You don't have to be scared. It will only let you sleep and when you wake up we will be at our home." With these words he stuck the needle into my arm. I wanted to free myself from his grip, but he would not let go. After a few minutes I had to
realize "My arms and legs went numb. I tried to look at Tyler, but I couldn't even see his face clearly. It was becoming increasingly difficult for me to think clearly.
"Everything is going to be alright. You are the center of my life from now on." was the last thing I consciously noticed.
