When the transformation really started, I was somewhere between panic and a kind of morbid fascination. There was just something that I didn't expect at all. The bare concrete walls only increase the background noise. So every crack of Tyler's bones seemed all the louder to me.
Unsure, I retreated to a corner of the room. The transformation into werewolf form seemed far more uncomfortable to me, and it took much longer than I expected. But I watched the transformation with some concern, but wished I was deaf right now so I wouldn't have to endure this, in my eyes, disgusting crackling.
But this transformation also came to an end. After what felt like an eternity, Tyler stood before me in his wolf form. The wolf, or Tyler, shook himself and then turned to me.
He stopped a good five feet in front of me and looked a little unsure. Tyler didn't seem quite sure what to do next, or maybe not.
After what felt like five minutes, I decided that something had to change about the situation. So I decided to get out of the corner I was still in and made my way back to the mattress. Tyler just watched me and after I sat down decided to come towards me. He lay down next to me and positioned himself with his head next to me on the mattress. He looked at me with big eyes. Tyler's gaze seemed unintentionally intense. To maybe distract him I decided to stroke his fur. In any case, he seemed to like it, because his route weaved quickly from left to right.
It looked a bit silly. After all, I knew that he also had a purely human form. And somehow I couldn't get the picture in my head of what it would look like if I did that if Tyler was in human form. How he would stand there and be happy. Another look at his route made me falter. The image in my head didn't exactly become adult at the thought of what Tyler would be waving instead.
Oh God! What was I thinking?!
I mean Tyler was nice, but never would I have imagined interacting with a man in a sexual way. It was a thought I hadn't faced in my life so far.
At home I was the sick one who couldn't speak because a werewolf attacked her. I was, behind closed doors, the example that people used when it came to the cruelty of the werewolves. Otherwise I was irrelevant. Maria was even pitied because she had to take care of me after the death of our parents, when she herself was only half a child at the time.
I took my hand out of Tyler's fur. This seemed quite irritated, but I clasped my hands together and looked in a different direction. The gray concrete wall was suddenly incredibly interesting.
It was only a few seconds before Tyler tried to get my attention back. He squeaked once. And again. Over time, the squeaking turned into a soft howling, which almost made me feel guilty.
Every now and then he would nudge me with his muzzle, but I just couldn't look at him. I was probably blushing again.
Beside me, I could feel Tyler getting up. He walked around me, wanting to get back into my line of sight, so I quickly turned my face the other way. But Tyler wasn't satisfied with that kind of rejection. He came closer to me and rubbed his head against me like a cat and suddenly licked my cheek once with his long tongue.
Surprised and also a bit disgusted, I turned back to Tyler, who seemed quite happy with that and tried to lick my face again. Still disgusted, but a little more prepared now, I was able to deflect his tongue with one hand.
I watched with disgust as a few drops of saliva dripped from my hand onto the floor.
After my strange thoughts had calmed down and Tyler tried to lick me two more times, we both decided to let it be for today and lie down.
I lay there, snuggled up in the warm blanket, on the mattress and Tyler, who somehow also fit on it, lay down behind me.
Everything was quiet and only our breathing could be heard, at least to my human ears. Tyler seemed relaxed too.
A dull bang sounded from the hallway.
Unsure I looked at Tyler, who had already sprayed his ears.
Whether it was for some other reason or because of the popping I couldn't tell, but Tyler jumped to his paws. He positioned himself between me and the door and growled at it.
Something seemed to be happening in front of the door in the corridor. However, unlike Tyler, I couldn't hear what was going on. All I could hear was Tyler's growl.
Suddenly something banged against the metal door. The loud bang reverberated around the room. Tyler growled louder and stared fixedly at the door. It slammed against the door again and again, which still held, but didn't seem as stable as I had first thought.
Even with my poor eyesight compared to a werewolf, I saw the door slowly give way a tiny bit after the second or third impact. Tyler noticed it too and was probably preparing for the fact that if the door gave way completely, he could throw himself at the attacker.
Unsure of what to do next, I sat up and freed myself from the blanket.
Someone or something kept ramming the door, and now I could make out another growl alongside Tyler's growl.
Nothing else was actually to be expected, but it was now certain that there was a werewolf on the other side who was trying everything to get in here and do whatever. The only thing I was sure of was that he didn't mean anything good for us.
Out of nowhere, the attack on the door stopped. Tyler, puzzled like me, stopped growling but was still tense. By now even I could clearly hear the snarling of several wolves on the other side of the door. The growl grew louder and was only interrupted by a loud howl. Then it was quiet again.
No noise that I could hear came through the door. I only recognized what was happening there from Tyler's posture, as he was still completely fixated on the door. Only after several minutes did he noticeably relax and turn back to me.
He walked up to me and nudged me with his nose. Maybe he wanted to show me that everything was fine again, but I couldn't just forget what had just happened. It was like the sounds were still ringing in my ears. Actually, I was just waiting for someone to try to break in again and that they would slam against the metal door again to get it open.
I came out stunned. Not really present at all. Shouldn't I have been scared to death before someone tried to break in here?
But the whole time I just sat on the mattress and watched Tyler growl at the door.
Even Tyler seemed to find my behavior odd, given the correct reading of his demeanor towards me. But to be honest, I didn't want to rely on my sanity right now.
Maybe it would be best to get some sleep now to get clearer thoughts. But I didn't think I'd be able to sleep another night that night.
My gaze went from Tyler to the door and back again. It would probably be a long night, but hopefully without further disturbances and who knows, maybe I'd still be able to sleep.
