I still found enough rest that night to sleep. However, it didn't seem to have been very long. Anyway, when I woke up I felt pretty drained.
It was only in the next moment that I realized what had actually woken me up. I was woken up by the unpleasant screeching sound of metal rubbing against each other. Even Tyler, still in his wolf form, had noticed and stood tensely next to me.
The door finally opened with a loud squeak. A man stood in the doorway and shouted something to a person who must have been standing behind him. "We have to replace the door. It's completely warped and is quite stuck." "Your serious? Do you actually know how expensive such a solid metal door is? The Alpha will certainly wring our necks if we tell him that. Can't we fix it?" ,,I do not think so. You can't save them anymore. It must have really gone off down here." The werewolf in the door turned to us. "Oh, they're awake!" "Really?", asked the one behind and also pushed into the door. "Fact! Those in the other room are still asleep. Even the mattress even survived the night here."
Honestly confused, I followed the conversation between the two men. They probably referred to one of the other alphas who, like us, were staying here with their respective mates. And it seemed like things had escalated a bit with them.
"What's this taking so long?!" called a familiar voice from the hallway. The two men made room for the newcomer by entering the room and turning towards the door. Brandon, the beta, stood in the doorway. ,,So?" he asked the two men. "Um we..." The beta just rolled his eyes and turned to Tyler and me.
"Lily, will you come with me please?" I looked questioningly at the beta. Why should I do that? My eyes darted to Tyler, who morphed back at that very moment. "Why and where do you want my mate?" Tyler asked the Beta directly, putting a lot of emphasis on "my mate".
Brandon rolled his eyes repeatedly. "Come on Lily, I have other things to do."
I looked at Tyler uncertainly. What should I do now? I couldn't resist the request of the beta of this pack, could I?
"Where should Lily go please? Especially right now?" Tyler demanded of Brandon. However, Brandon only growled angrily and took something out of a pocket. Before I could even realize what was happening, the beta made a throwing movement in the direction of Tyler. He then slumped to the ground and jerked I jumped up,
startled, wanting to help Tyler in any way I could, but I was barely on my feet when Brandon grabbed me and pulled me away from Tyler.
"You shouldn't touch him now! I gave him a small stun gun that will disable your companion for now, but shouldn't hurt him. It would still be too dangerous for you, after all, it's almost 50 volts." Meanwhile, the beta pushed me towards the door. I, however, panicked, kept an eye on Tyler. After all, I had paid attention at school and knew that electricity of this strength was absolutely life-threatening and I did I couldn't believe that werewolves, no matter how strong, could take that without harm.
"Come on Lily, we have to move on. Believe me, once the power goes out, he'll be fine, but without the shocker we would never have gotten it off you."
Before he could finally force me out of the room, the last thing I saw of Tyler was on the floor, still convulsing, his eyes rolled up.
I was sitting here far more anxious than I was about half an hour ago. Brandon practically dragged me out of the basement, past the bloody remains of something I couldn't clearly identify, up into an office. Unfortunately not just any run-of-the-mill office, but in that of the alpha. Well, if it was Brandon who came to get me, I really shouldn't have expected anything else, but I certainly didn't want to go there. Especially not without Tyler...
Who was probably still twitching in the basement.
We entered the office without knocking and the Beta directed me to a chair. I was forced to sit down on this one and kept my head down.
I didn't even have to be a werewolf to notice right away that the Alpha was in space.
"Alpha, two doors are broken downstairs. One of them can no longer be repaired," said the beta. The alpha growled. "You can't be serious! Do you know how expensive they are?!" "Unfortunately, it can't be changed anymore. We can't hold the one would-be Alpha who caused this to account." Brandon said. "How could it have happened that the door wasn't locked properly! What bungler couldn't get that right?!" "I don't know right now either, Alpha." "In any case, that one will clean up the mess down there and dispose of the corpse!" the Alpha growled angrily
A knock interrupted the conversation between the two werewolves. "Come in Patrick!" called the alpha, who seemed to know exactly who was standing in front of the door.
An old man, optically over 80 with a grim facial expression, entered the room. "Alpha, Luna, Beta", he greeted the werewolves present in the room, although I hadn't even noticed the Luna before. The man ignored me. "Why did you let me call Alpha?" he asked. "That's why," said the Alpha and the older one turned to me.
"I don't quite understand," he said, raising an eyebrow and giving me a disparaging look.
"She hasn't been able to speak as an innocent child since she was attacked by a werewolf. And since she's an Alpha's mate, your experienced opinion is needed." Said the Luna. It was, I think, the first time I'd heard her speak at all. She didn't seem too happy. But maybe that was the case I couldn't say it was because of me or someone or something else.
"Oh, Alpha, we still have to talk about one companion.", he told Beta and then left the room with him.
The older man, on the other hand, suddenly stood in front of me. He grabbed my chin without saying anything and literally jerked my head up. An unpleasant crack sounded from my neck and it hurt slightly.
Suddenly Luna was standing next to me and pushed the man away from me. "Don't be so brutal to her Doc. I know you don't think much of people, but one day she will also stand above you.", the Luna growled at the man, who was probably a doctor like Luke. The man was probably
not satisfied, he made a face like seven days rain, but submitted to the will of the woman.
He felt my neck much more carefully. I felt uncomfortable, but I didn't dare to resist it. "
Open your mouth!" my head back even further.
As I was still sitting in the chair, the old man loomed over me. He took a small flashlight out of a pocket and shone it in my mouth.
He let go of me moments later and gave me a withering look. He then turned away and mumbled something, but so softly that I couldn't hear it.
He nodded to Luna again and left the room without paying any more attention to me.
"Rude guy." Luna grumbled and sat down on the tabletop of the large, massive desk opposite me. "
You know, I've known Patrick for a very, very long time and sometimes I wish I could just kick his ass turn around, but that's not how a pack works. Even if he deserves it.", she said and rolled her eyes.
I didn't quite understand why she was telling me this and how I should react to it. I looked around the room uncertainly.
"I think we both should talk urgently." Luna started talking again and I had a bad feeling about what was to come.
