I looked at the beta's mate in amazement. Each Luna had once been a human? Even Tyler's mom, who was always acting so weird?
"Your face really speaks volumes right now. With which Luna can you not imagine that? At our? Or maybe it's Tyler's mother? Or do you know anyone else?"
I shook my head in irritation, but just didn't know exactly what I was answering in Bea's eyes. "Okay, the question was stupid.", she said and scratched the back of her head in embarrassment.
"But maybe you should eat better now? It would be a shame if all the meat got cold, although it should probably taste cold." I looked at her confused. Weren't we on another topic?
"Sorry, I can smell the smell. I've already eaten, but I could get hungry again and it would be a shame to let it go to waste."
I tried to gesture to ask her if she wanted something, but she refused. "I've already eaten and you don't.", Bea said only to me.
So I sat down cross-legged and put the plate on my feet. It didn't come with a fork, so I just used my fingers. The meat was no longer hot, just warm. That's why I was able to eat it very well with my fingers without burning them. There were also some spices on the meat itself. it tasted very good and I grabbed one piece of meat after the next from the plate.
"You seem to like it." Bea spoke to me amused. For her age, she still seemed surprisingly young in my eyes. "You know, you remind me a little of
me when I met my companion I had amnesia from an accident and Brandon gave me a pretty bad deal. I was furious when I found out and I locked myself in too. Oh man it was a time. Little tip from me, torment not the poor fellow for so long. Born werewolves are sometimes a bit peculiar, but that's just the way they are and all they really want is to be loved by their mate."
Bea sighed and seemed to be somewhere in her thoughts now.
"Sometimes I wished Brandon wasn't the beta of a werewolf pack. That he would be a normal werewolf or man and that there wouldn't be all this responsibility that weighs on us. Where we could live in a quiet place and our children and grandchildren could come and visit. Oh, it's so crazy. I haven't seen some of my children in years. I don't even know all of my grandchildren, let alone my great-grandchildren." A single tear rolled down her cheek. She caught it, though.
"Maybe it's interesting for you to know. Your companion is related to our alpha, as are the other two prospective alphas. Every Alpha alive today is related to the current Alpha. They can all be traced back to the Alpha and the Luna, with a more or less long line of generations." I looked at them in surprise. So they were kind of a family.
"I guess it's really hard to believe, but it really is. Especially in our generation, however, it was normal for werewolves to have many children and they also had many children and it went on and on like that. It was a bit different with our alpha couple than with the following generations. All of their children have become alphas. Don't ask me how, after all it's usually just the first born son. But they all have their own pack and territory and they manage it more or less well."
Shortly thereafter, Bea had left the room with the now empty plate. I locked the door right behind her.
I was still confused by what Bea had said. Tyler was really related to the alpha here? That seemed absurd to me from a human perspective. But what did I know. Werewolves lived far longer than humans.
Well, in my case, probably still human. After all, they had set their minds on making me a werewolf. The idea of being able to speak again appealed to me, but the bite, or bites, was a very clear reason for me not to want it.
I had made myself comfortable on the bed and wrapped myself in the blanket. I actually wanted to sleep, but I couldn't sleep.
It had been dark outside for some time. It was quiet in the room as well as in the hallway in front of it. But to be honest, I was just waiting to hear Tyler looking for me and probably finding me here as well.
I closed my eyes, exhausted from my thoughts. I was almost asleep when I actually heard footsteps in the hallway.
"Lily!" I heard Tyler call out in the hallway. However, his voice sounded strange. Was he slurring? "
Lily!" he shouted again, apparently banging his fist on the doors in this hallway.
His uneven footsteps could be heard in the hallway. It sounded like he was constantly staggering from side to side.
Suddenly there was a loud bang in front of my door.
"Lily..." I heard him moan painfully through the door. Was he drunk? I really couldn't imagine that werewolves could get drunk. But Tyler's demeanor was proof of the opposite. I
heard mumbling him something that sounded like 'Lily, where are you?', but I wasn't entirely sure as I didn't understand every sound he made.Unsure what to do now, I got out of bed again
.
I guess Tyler was right outside my door and knew, even if he was really drunk, that I was in here. His senses were certainly good enough for that. After all, how else could he have gotten here?
Then, when I didn't hear from him for a few minutes, I got a little worried. Had he lost consciousness and perhaps passed out in the hallway?
I got up and went to the door. I knelt on my side and leaned my ear against the door so I might hear him.
In fact, I could hear Tyler breathing from the other side. Even if it didn't sound like even breathing.
But now genuinely concerned, I decided to knock on the door to see if he responded.
I wondered if this was just the situation since I was so dismissive of him earlier. It probably hit him, but enough to shoot himself like that?
I actually heard a low moan when I knocked. So he seemed more or less conscious.
My guilty conscience then moved me to open the door.
I unlocked it and pushed the left hand down.
Pretty much at the same time as the door opened, Tyler, who was probably still half leaning against the door before, fell face first into the room. However, it somehow failed to load on the page.
Startled, I actually wanted to take a step away from him, after all he was almost exactly in front of my feet, but Tyler was a little faster and grabbed one of my legs.
"Lily!" he yelled or slurred happily, pulling himself closer to me.
Overwhelmed by the situation, I tried to find a solution. In any case, a look into the hallway confirmed that there was no one around who could help me.
A sudden tug on my leg made me gasp in shock. This made me lose my balance and half fell on Tyler.
He then pulled me into a hug with surprisingly well-conditioned movements. When I was finally lying as he wanted, he mumbled this in my ear, which made me freeze: "You didn't seriously believe that a werewolf could get drunk."
