I felt chills down my spine. As I listened to Luke's explanations.
"The alpha bite," Luke began to explain: "It's what triggers the actual transformation into a werewolf. This is usually done by the respective alpha on the eve of the next full moon. This activates the still small part of being a werewolf in the bitten person. This spreads over the next few hours throughout the body and causes the first transformation when the full moon rises. The bites themselves, as well as the spread of the 'werewolf infection' are probably not particularly pleasant, but the most painful thing is probably loud from the stories I've heard, the first transformation, but while you're probably still scared now and that doesn't make it any better in your eyes right now, I can assure you that Tyler will be by your side the whole time. "
He was right. That really didn't make it any better. I felt absolutely churned inside. I actually wanted to scream all my emotions out of myself so that the whole world could hear it, but I couldn't. And now I should have the same thing done to me two more times, like what made sure that I can't get a word out of my mouth now.
"Lily? Are you even listening to me?" I looked at Luke confused. Had he continued to speak? "
Okay, apparently you haven't Alpha Bite and the transformation afterwards can speak again!"
I looked at him even more confused than before. I was even pretty sure that I had misheard and that Luke was actually talking about something completely different.
"You may not believe me right now, but it's really like that."
So I hadn't misheard? I still looked at him doubtfully.
"I understand your doubts. All the doctors have probably told you that nothing will help. But certainly no one thought that you were a werewolf's mate. That makes a difference and it has been documented in our chronicles several times that the bite has healed injuries."
I kept looking at Luke in silence. Half expected there to be another catch, not to mention the bite.
In any case, Luke was silent now and was probably deep in thought. Until the moment he sighed and turned back to me.
"You know Lily, to be honest, I'm hoping that my mate will be easier than it is with you and many other mate pairs, but I have to share this person with Jared. This can really be something.
But first, let's head over to the pack house. Because I'm pretty sure that despite my explanation, you don't want to be here with Tyler for the time being."
I nodded. We got up and left the house.
My thoughts mainly revolved around what Luke had said last time. That he met his companions had to share with his brother, imagining how much trouble and turmoil it would all bring.
It wasn't until the pack house came into view that I realized Luke was probably just trying to distract me. And it had worked pretty well up to this point. But now I was afraid that Tyler would show up at any moment and I really didn't want to see him right now.
"Don't worry the BBQ's on the other side of the packhouse. Tyler isn't just going to show up here." Luke's facial expression showed that he obviously had more understanding for my situation, even if I didn't quite understand it. He was a werewolf after all and should really be on Tyler's side. But he really had the great talent to put himself in the position of his counterparts, even if they had grown up very differently.
Luke had taken me to a room on the second floor of this huge house. There was everything you needed and it even had its own small bathroom. In the room there was even clothing on the bed, which was probably intended for me. The twin quickly said goodbye to me and left me alone, but didn't even point out that I could lock this room from the inside.
I did so as soon as he left the room, although I doubted that the door could actually stop a werewolf.
I sat on the bed and thought about it all. Nobody here would probably help me, after all there were werewolves here. It probably would have been better if Tyler hadn't told me about it. Then all this wouldn't be haunting my head all the time.
It knocked. I looked at the door, startled. "Lily? I'm Bea do you open for me I brought some food for you."
Since I was already hungry, I decided to open the door and hope that it really was only Bea on the other side.
To my relief, it was really only her, with an overflowing plate inside hand.
"Hey, can I come in?" she asked me. I nodded and took a step aside. I remained undecided by the door. Should I close them again now? Or would that be very rude to Bea for me to lock her in here with me?
"Shut up. It doesn't bother me and I can understand you quite well." Without further hesitation, I locked the door.
"Here," said Bea, who sat down on the bed and pointed to the plate next to her.
I also sat down on the bed and then took a closer look at the plate. In fact, there was only meat on it, which was already in smaller pieces had been cut.
I looked at Bea questioningly. Did you only eat meat and nothing else with it?
"What? We are werewolves. Our diet is simply based largely on meat. We also need much less compared to humans Fruits and vegetables. Our body can use the nutritional values of meat much better. In addition, we have a much greater desire to eat meat. You will understand after the change. You will probably not want to eat anything else for the first few weeks."
Why did she have to start now with this tiresome subject?
"I can imagine that the bite isn't the biggest highlight for you. But the worst part is just panicking about it. The biting werewolf never intends to hurt the bitten one more than necessary and it's nowhere near as bad as you make it out to be. In any case, I imagined it to be much more painful."
I looked at her in surprise. She was also a human being and was then bitten?
"Almost all the women here have been bitten. Werewolves have a really bad female birth rate. Only one in 1000 children is a girl. Don't ask me why It's probably something genetic. Which is probably why the werewolves didn't wipe out the humans. That would be her own downfall as well, since with so few females of her own kind, the species would not be able to survive. I myself gave birth to two girls. Luna herself does not have a single daughter. But with alpha couples, the probability of a girl is even worse than with other werewolves, since they have to give birth to a future alpha and this can only be male. Funny, I know, but that's the way it is. By the way, Alphas only have native humans as companions. So is also the Luna,
