Shortly afterwards we reached the pack house again. In front of the huge building, the alpha was already waiting for us, who didn't seem to be in such a bad mood this time as usual. He even smiled, but it looked a lot more like a grimace.
"Glad you finally got it over with, budding alpha. Now we can move forward with plans for taking over the pack much better and my mate will guide yours to her tasks. Best start with that first thing in the morning."
Without waiting for Tyler's reaction or reply, he turned and left. But he stopped halfway to the house and turned back to us. "Remember that you now also live in the pack house. The guest houses are only for guests and you are no longer them."
The alpha then disappeared into the pack house and just left Tyler and me out here.
"It's good that I also know where this room is supposed to be.", Tyler said ironically and sighed. I did
n't really care about that myself and tried to free myself from his arms again
that you can stand on your own two feet? After the bite, most companions are a little unsteady on their feet and often feel dizzy."
Again I squirmed in his arms and finally he let me down too, but held me by my shoulders, probably to make sure I could really stand. But I freed myself from his grip.
"Please Lily, I'm just worried about you." I just glared at him.
"Okay, maybe it wasn't my best idea and you're mad at me now, I get that, really. But at least you didn't have to be afraid or panic about the bite, since you didn't expect it at all at the moment. That's worth a lot to me, even if you probably don't understand it right now.
Lily, there was no getting around the bite, and I just wanted you to be unwell for a little while. I know that the bite hurts and you didn't want it. But don't you think it was better that way?"
Tyler looked at me depressed.
Oh damn, after his explanation it even sounded almost logical. But I never felt cheated of my self-determination.
But that argument probably didn't carry much with a werewolf, since Tyler, like probably every werewolf, was adamant that there was no getting around the bite, or rather bites.
I was almost nauseous at the thought of the second bite.
I hesitantly grabbed the spot where the large patch was.
It still hurt, but a lot less than when I started.
"You probably won't quite believe me until tomorrow, but the wound will probably have healed completely by tomorrow evening and you can only see small scars. There's even a small chance that just one bite can improve the situation around your voice. But we'll both find out more about that tomorrow. Then the werewolf component of my DNA should have spread throughout your body. Luke will certainly be able to say more then."
Tyler came up to me again and hugged me. This time I let him touch me.
"Let's find our room or someone who can show us.", he said and took my hand in his.
So we walked, hand in hand, towards the pack house, this gigantic building that still seemed completely out of place in the natural surroundings.
Tyler and I had been sitting in the great room for forty-five minutes, where we had already eaten with the other guests up at the Alpha.
Nobody who was still awake could tell us where our room should be.
An elderly gentleman had promised Tyler to see if the housekeeper of the pack house was still awake, since she should know. But it was either difficult to find, the gentleman had forgotten us, or was really slow on foot. Maybe I just massively underestimated the size of the pack house and it would take 15 minutes to get from one end to the other. But Tyler was also getting impatient now.
"Do you think we'll get a room today or that we have to sleep here?" He murmured softly in my ear.
Although I was sitting on my own chair, Tyler had slid close to me, so that less than 10 cm between us
I wanted to move away with the chair but Tyler just moved up.
"Lily? Tyler? What are you doing here?" a voice asked us from behind.
We turned around and saw one of the twins walking towards us.
"Hey, um Jared? Luke?" Tyler said, unsure who he was looking at: , ,The Alpha told us we would have a room here from now on, but neither we nor anyone else know where this said room is." ,,Oh
man, they aren't serious? You have your companions as yours marked and then they make you wait here, really!", he said and added: "Oh and I'm Jared."
"Sorry Jared, I really can't tell you apart. You guys look absolutely identical. I've heard of identical twins in werewolves before, but figured it was more like humans and you can easily tell them apart as a werewolf." "Don't worry
Tyler, it happens to everyone. Even our mother doesn't know which one of us is which Luke and I have been running around for years with our names capitalized on it,
but chances are our names have been switched since we were born and my name was actually Luke and my brother Jared.
At the age of four we both finally agreed which of us is who, because we weren't always fully aware of what our names are now, since we were constantly being addressed by both names." "That sounds confusing
.. ." Tyler said hesitantly.
"Yes, that's it too.", Jared said, "but it's good to know that our companion will be able to tell us apart. If Luke or I should ever find her."
"Aren't you afraid that you'll fight or get jealous of each other, since you only get one companion. I couldn't imagine sharing Lily with anyone else."
"It's really just a matter of attitude. Luke and I grew up knowing that we will have a mate together and therefore we will always live together.
Even if it could be quite difficult in the current situation, since we both have our own room at the moment, but neither of us wants to sleep separately from our companion and the rooms are simply too small for three people. We would probably have to build a house somewhere on the territory. However, because of Luke's job as a doctor, that must not be too far away from the pack house. So you can see it's complicated, and it's getting complicated, but not in the way most people think."
Tyler just nodded his understanding while I really just felt sorry for the poor girl, or maybe the boy, who was about to get two werewolves. One was enough for me by far.
