"Mother? What are you doing with my mate right now? Why did you bring her down? I wanted her to stay upstairs." Tyler and everyone else in the room that was behind the door looked at us. But just as we entered the room, the woman threw me to the floor. Not a second later, Tyler was at my side and helped me back to my feet.
"Are you alright?" he asked me quietly. I nodded slightly, not daring to look up. All the attention was definitely on me.
"She's going to eat here now!" determined Tyler's mother.
"But mother!" Tyler wanted to speak again, but his mother wouldn't allow it.
"SILENCE!" she yelled at a volume that hurt my ears. Without another word, Tyler pulled me in one direction and led me to his seat. With nothing else to do, I sat on his lap and
tried to draw as little attention to me as possible, which I surprisingly seemed to succeed in. Anyway, everyone but Tyler seemed to have forgotten me straight away or found me uninteresting.
The people here, or rather werewolves here, talked to their neighbors, laughed together and ate. Even Tyler's mother seemed to have calmed down and was eating something.
However, Tyler got my attention again by holding a fork in front of me with some veggies on it. "Come eat a little while you're here." Unsure if I should really do that,
my gaze darted around the room
everyone here for their own needs. Some even have sex here."
I looked at him in horror. That wasn't his first thing, was it?
"Don't look like that, I'm serious and if we stay here long enough we'll notice it too. So if you want to stay here until then..."
Without thinking too much about it, I ate the vegetables on the fork and also the other bites that he handed me. I just wanted to get out of here as quickly as possible before I had to had to witness the act of love between two werewolves in, more or less, public.
When the plate was finally empty, Tyler just grinned at me.
"Are you in a hurry?" he asked me jokingly. I looked at him angrily. Surely he wasn't being serious? Does he really think he still has to annoy me. But he just kept grinning at me
. You know, actually," he started to say, leaning towards my ear, "You look so cute right now."
Stunned, I just kept looking at him.
"Maybe I should compliment you more often, if I get your attention for it." He said completely calmly.
Arrg this one... Why did he think he had to tease me like that? I had understood that I would never get rid of him. I would never see even the last part of my family again. Maria. Oh how I miss her. She's the only one I have left after losing our parents.
We had been everything for each other.
But now?
Maria's apartment would probably be taken away and since we had no other family, she would have to go to a residential home for single women.
But one thing calmed me down, at least a little bit. The family members received some compensation for the loss. There was a fairly high probability that Maria would get a better job and be entitled to more food. Also, the wolves she meets would be friendlier to her, but many people would avoid her for now. After all, her sister was a werewolf whore.
I got stuck on that thought. werewolf whore. How many times have I heard this word. When there weren't any werewolves around, the girls owned by a werewolf were the number one topic of conversation. They were taunted like they could have chosen to be. They didn't have a choice, any more than I do now. If a werewolf decided something, so be it.
Some not-so-extreme human voices assumed that the girls might have been drugged or something to make them compliant.
My previous experiences spoke against it to a certain extent. But the rumors didn't seem to be entirely without them. After all, I've been drugged twice, once by the person whose lap I was sitting on.
Oh, what am I supposed to do? Running away was bad. I didn't even know where the exit was in this building. And I'm guessing it was pretty unlikely that I would be allowed to move around the building on my own now. It looked a lot more like I'd have to go right back into the room and Tyler would lock me up. Maybe I would eat here more often now, but whether it was that good is a bit questionable for me.
The door to the hall was pushed open. Suddenly there was silence and the mood in the room suddenly seemed to be completely different. I wanted to see who was responsible for this odd mood, but Tyler quickly pushed my head down.
"My son," a deep, menacing-sounding voice boomed behind us: "A letter has arrived for you. I think you know who it could have come from."
"Thank you father." He said quietly and took the letter. Tyler put it on the table in front of us so I could take a look.
A pristine white envelope with a crimson seal depicting a snarling wolf. I had no idea what could be in this letter, but I had a bad feeling about it. Especially when I realized Tyler was tensing up behind me too.
As soon as his father disappeared behind us and sat down in the seat next to Tyler's mother, Tyler gestured for me to get up. Then he got up himself, grabbed the letter and pulled me out of the room by one arm. A look over my shoulder told me that not one person was paying attention to us.
Well maybe they did and I just didn't get it. The door was closed by Tyler as soon as I got through the door's frame.
Contrary to my notion that we were going right back into the room, Tyler decided to take a different route.
He opened another large door, which to my surprise led outside.
Outside it was very cloudy and in some places it looked like a thunderstorm. But Tyler ignored it and pulled me further and further away from the house outside.
I wanted to look around the area, but whenever I looked left or right, I stumbled over bumps, which were massive on the path we were walking on. In order not to fall down, which I have been able to avoid more or less skillfully up to now, I only paid attention to the way and hoped that Tyler would stop soon because he was running relatively fast and I could hardly keep up.
After about 3 minutes we stopped near a forest. Tyler released me and began pacing back and forth uneasily. He always walked about four meters away from me, then turned around and ran back to me, only to start all over again.
Incidentally, he'd opened and read the letter, which made him frown. The way he behaved, nothing good could be in it, but I finally wanted to know what was going on. But how was I supposed to get his attention now when his mind seemed to be completely elsewhere?
