Milo accompanied me to the twins. His eyes fixed firmly on the ground, afraid to see the moon already in the sky, the upper part of which could actually already be seen over the treetops. "Aren't you really afraid?" I looked at him questioningly. "I mean, then companion becomes an alpha today and from what I've heard, werewolves like to change positions like this." Milo looked confused. Did I really have to worry about that? While Tyler had changed a little when we got here, would he change even more in his new position as alpha?
We reached the building where the twins' companion lay in a coma. "Ah Lily, there you are. But what are you still doing here?" he asked horrified Milo. "I-I don't want to." "I already know that, but it doesn't help. You're just torturing yourself." "
But!" Milo wanted to protest and watched, probably Luke, but froze. First I noticed that there was a window next to the twin, in which the moon was already reflected. It was at this reflection that Milo stared. A few seconds later he turned on the spot as if controlled by an alien power.
I looked at him uncertainly. His eyes were wide and his hands were shaking uncontrollably. He was completely fixated on the moon. It cracked loudly. Milo turned into a wolf within seconds. He didn't have any particularly noticeable fur, but he was noticeably small. He was by far the smallest werewolf in shape I had ever seen. Even in form he still seemed to be staring at the moon. With slow steps he walked towards where the moon was in the sky. Milo's steps quickened and, like Tyler, he disappeared into the trees. "Oh man, what a drama, but oh well. Are you coming in Lily?" the twin asked me. I turned back to him and nodded.
Arriving in the room, everything looked the same as it did a few days ago. The girl lay unchanged in her bed, but this time with her eyes closed. "Lily! Glad you're here.", the other twin greeted me. "She's asleep right now and the values have been normal all day, so nothing should happen, right?", he reassured himself with a quick look at his brother and he nodded. "Yes, nothing should happen and if not just push your head. By the way, we put something to eat and something to read for you over there.", he said and pointed to a table on which the said things were lying. I nodded in understanding the way." "Yes it would be better."
Both turned to their companion and kissed her hand goodbye. "Please take good care of her.", one of the twins asked me when leaving. The door closed behind them and I was alone with the girl. I looked around a bit uncomfortable. It was a strange feeling with someone alone Being in a vegetative state for a while. But at least her eyes weren't open now, that would have been far scarier. Just the thought of it sent chills down my spine.
It was weird for me anyway. After all, Tyler and I had only been locked in a basement a month ago because otherwise it would have been too dangerous and here I was. My mate would become the alpha of this pack on this full moon night, and I stood alone in the room with the only other human I knew of.
The evening dragged on quite a bit. To be honest, I was relieved. that nothing had happened to the twins' mate. She must have been sleeping the whole time, as far as that was possible in a vegetative state. Anyway, her eyes had been closed the whole time. I deduced that she was otherwise fine from the regular beeping of the machines. In the meantime, I would have wished that the beeping could be turned down a bit, as it almost got on my last nerve at its current volume. I couldn't even concentrate on the book, which was a book of old children's fairy tales. After a few pages I had given up annoyed because I couldn't hide the beeping and concentrate on the content.
At least the food had been convincing. It consisted of many small snacks, so there was definitely something I liked. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised anyway at how delicious the food was here. Werewolves weren't exactly known for being very picky when it came to food. Except for the large amount of meat, which from experience did not always have to be completely cooked, everything was really very tasty.
One or the other time I would have even nodded off that evening. But loud wolf howls sounded several times through the night and made sure that goosebumps spread all over my body.
It felt kind of weird. Especially since everything was dark outside the windows and I couldn't see what was going on outside. Even the glow of the full moon didn't change that much.
Since there was no clock here either, it was difficult for me to estimate how late it was. I honestly didn't even know how long I had to wait here? Maybe a few more hours? Maybe until the sun would rise?
I did not know it.
A light knock on the door scared me half to death. The door opened a crack. "Hey Lily, it's us. We hope we didn't startle you.", one of the twins spoke to me, who stuck his head through the door.
Obviously, not being startled didn't work at all. I could still hear my heartbeat rushing in my ears.
"Obviously that didn't work out at all," the second twin also commented, entering the room behind his brother. To my very positive surprise, both twins had even bothered to put on a pair of pants before they came here. But something bothered me. But I couldn't say exactly what it was and whether it was due to both or just one twin. "
Did something happen while we were away?", asked me again one of both and I shook my head no. "Okay, then we're relieved. You can go now if you want, Lily. Tyler should be waiting for you outside. Get some rest, it's been a long night for everyone involved."
I nodded goodbye to both of them and left the room. I was kind of tired and nervous at the same time. Tired from the long time I'd babysat the twins' mate and nervous if Milo was right and if Tyler really would be a little different now that he was alpha.
In front of the door that separated me from outside, I took another deep breath and closed my eyes for a moment. A little more determined than before, I grabbed the doorknob, but hesitated at the last moment.
It kind of felt like that moment right now in the hospital where Tyler and I first met. What was I so afraid of just now? I knew him by now. I actually liked him a lot. Damn it...
