I lay happily in my sister's arms. It was an insanely beautiful moment.
"Lily, I thought I'd never see you again. I don't really understand all this right now, but it's so nice to see you again. are you coming back home We could certainly get our old apartment back, which is guaranteed not to be reassigned."
I pulled away from my sister a bit and looked at her skeptically. Wasn't it absolutely obvious why I couldn't go home with her again? I shook my head. I was a werewolf's mate, after all, and an alpha at that. I didn't really have a choice, but then neither did Tyler. For werewolves there was only one companion. There was no other person in the world she could ever love like that. And that Tyler more than 'liked' me was more than obvious. Also, I didn't have to tell myself I didn't care about Tyler anymore either, because he didn't. He had played an important part in my life. Tyler made me feel like the most important thing in the world to him and honestly that made me feel more
"But Lily... what am I supposed to do without you? You're all I have in terms of family and you know exactly what people are like here. They say horrible things about you and avoid me like I have the plague. Usually you don't think there's a possibility..." But she shook her head herself. Maria was also aware that there was nothing to negotiate about. I couldn't even say whether we'd see each other again While I could imagine Tyler could set it up, our pack was just too far away for the constant traveling back and forth, and since Tyler certainly wouldn't let me come alone, it would be sooner or later later his pack, which would go on the barricades.
No, that just didn't work.
It knocked. Maria and I turned to the door. As expected, Tyler stood in the doorway. "I hope I'm not disturbing you," he said mischievously. I smiled slightly, but my sister stiffened next to me and quickly turned away from him. At first I was a bit irritated, but then I remembered staring at a werewolf for too long usually got into trouble with those. My
gaze slid back briefly to Tyler, who had just raised his eyebrows in surprise, but Maria didn't look in his direction anymore and didn't say anything anymore.Concerned, I took her hand. She didn't have to worry about herself, Tyler wasn't a werewolf who liked to stir up people.
Tyler took a few steps into the room, but first closed the door behind him. "I think I'll introduce myself. My name is Tyler and I'm Lily's mate." He kept it short, but Maria still didn't look up. "
I know the situation between humans and werewolves isn't that easy, but believe me, I won't hurt you . After all, you're my mate's sister, and she'd probably tear my head off."
I looked at him skeptically. As if I could rip his head off, but he just winked at me. But my sister didn't really get it. She was still looking in a different direction.
As long as Tyler was still in the room, Maria didn't say another word. When Tyler also noticed quite quickly that my sister wasn't really in a positive mood towards him, he decided, probably to love me, to leave the room quickly.
After that, Maria had acted as if the last few minutes hadn't happened. I found that a bit odd, but I didn't want to waste the rest of our time with it. She told me what had happened to her recently and asked me, as we always did, with skillful questions about my previous experiences. She always positioned them so that I could nod or shake my head. And since she had known me all my life, she could read exactly where she could ask further questions from my reaction. Unfortunately, this type of communication had one major drawback, our conversation was limited to things she'd heard about before.
A few hours had passed and Maria had to go. Finally, she had to get back to the neighborhood we lived in before it got too dark outside. You didn't have to be afraid of other people, but no one wanted to meet a werewolf in the dark. Because when it got dark, you were inferior to the werewolves with all your senses.
Tyler and I didn't stay much longer in the guard house. On the way back to our accommodation I started missing Maria again. I probably wouldn't see her again for a while now.
"You know, I actually thought it was a shame that I couldn't get to know your sister. Actually, I was hoping to find out something about you from another source.", he said and pulled me into his arms with a grin. I looked at him with raised eyebrows. "What? Would have been funny. If you
someday , if you are ready for it, if you are a werewolf and you would meet my parents again, they would also tell you all possible and impossible stories from my life."
I wish I could have raised my eyebrows even higher. I certainly hadn't forgotten how Tyler's parents used to behave towards me, especially his mother. With the best will in the world, I couldn't imagine her as a mother who told her own son's partner funny stories from his childhood.
But Tyler had just brought up a subject I still didn't know how to bring up. The transformation into a werewolf. How should I explain my sudden change of heart to him? He would most likely not just accept it and be happy.
Suddenly Tyler stopped and stood protectively in front of me. I looked around confused, not knowing what was happening.
Not a second later, a harried looking werewolf was standing in front of us, and I really didn't know where it came from. Tyler growled at him while he just bowed his head. "Alpha...", he almost whimpered: "We're sorry." "Sorry about what?" Tyler wanted to know, still maintaining his menacing attitude.
"I...um...we-we couldn't help it. We didn't think something like this could happen. Like this something hasn't happened here for years, plus it was a young wolf who was easily provoked. Please forgive us and our pack."
"What the hell are you talking about?!" he finally demanded to know what had happened.
"The human you called into the guardhouse provoked a young wolf." I stared at the wolf with wide eyes. My sister should have done what?
"Take us there!" Tyler ordered the wolf. The wolf didn't make a sound and started off in one direction with long strides, but at a reasonably human pace. Tyler gave me a brief worried look, took my hand and we set out to follow the strange werewolf.
We didn't have to walk long. Almost only in the other direction past the guard house. A block away, in the twilight of the evening, we could see a larger group of people standing in a circle. And even at a distance, with my poor human eyesight, I could make out a motionless figure on the ground...
