Tyler and I sat in silence on the trunk of a fallen tree.
"I have to tell you something about the transformation," Tyler suddenly burst out.
I looked at him, surprised and slightly confused. I mean, he had explained the process of what would happen up until the bite
. which you probably fear the most isn't the worst, since
the bite happens about 24 hours before the full moon to give the "werewolf" or whatever you want to call it enough time to spread throughout the body.
But this component in my saliva, which turns you into a werewolf, is also recognized by your body as a foreign body and is fought against. When a companion bites, only a minimal amount is transmitted, which the human body usually survives without any problems and without symptoms. But with the alpha bite it's something completely different.
You will feel pain immediately after the bite, which will only get worse rather than better over time. You will get a fever for this. After a few hours you will probably feel so bad that you can neither eat nor drink. And it's not going to get any better after about 20 hours when that pathogen, or whatever it is, has fully spread inside you. From that moment on, it just won't get any worse until the first change.
In addition, even born werewolves feel severe pain, especially during their first transformation.
And especially when bitten, the first change usually takes a long time, because the person, in contrast to a born werewolf, who prepares his whole life, knowing his disposition, defends himself against it. In their Koof they are still human and that complicates the whole thing.
Your transformation will begin with the rising of the full moon and can usually last up to 20 minutes, but sometimes longer. Nothing could take away your pain at this time.
Well, growing and shaping body parts just isn't that easy and it's pretty taxing on a body."
I looked at Tyler with wide eyes. 20 minutes or even longer could my first transformation last?!
Tyler's transformation, which was so rapid in comparison, sent a shiver down my spine every time. How am I supposed to endure this?
"I know that doesn't sound very appealing. But I want you to know all the relevant facts when making your decision. I don't want you to feel like I'm hiding something from you.
After the transformation, you survived the worst.
You'll probably have some trouble adjusting to your new form after your transformation, and once you've transformed back into a mensek, you'll be pretty sore for a few days.
But like I said, compared to the first transformation, it's all relatively harmless." All
I could do was stare at Tyler.
"Are you sure you still want to be transformed on the next full moon?"
Tyler took my hands in his and looked at me almost pleadingly as he spoke. I would have preferred to say no now. But if there was no way around this change sooner or later anyway, I'd rather do it now than drive myself crazy about it for months or even years.
So I slowly nodded.
Tyler took a deep breath in and out.
"Okay, if you still want it or just feel like you have to do it...
Then I won't doubt your decision anymore and I promise you, from the bite until you're fully transformed, I won't leave your side." Tyler
pulled me into his arms and murmured a soft murmur, "I love you to.
I lay awake in bed. I hadn't closed my eyes all night.
The first rays of sunshine are slowly entering the room.
The day had come.
Today Tyler would bite me for the second time.
Tyler hadn't approached me on the subject for the past few days, but he seemed to be trying very hard to distract me, for which I gave him credit.
In the pack itself, however, there seemed to be no other topic.
But hey, they would finally have a Luna again...
"Good morning.", Tyler's voice sounded next to me. I looked up in surprise. I hadn't even noticed that he had woken up too. With one hand
he brushed some hair out of my face.
"Are you very nervous? "
I nodded.
"I'm sorry about that... You didn't sleep too much either, did you?" I
nodded again.
Tyler sighed
your powers."
I just nodded again.
Of course it would have been better if I had slept a bit, but I couldn't do anything about it now.
"You know Lily, I'm really worried about you. But there's one thing I'm really looking forward to, because once you transform for the first time, you too will finally be able to recognize that I'm your mate. Believe me, there is no better feeling in the world than looking into your soul mate's eyes..."
Tyler looked at me dreamily for a moment.
"But let's eat something first Brewing energy. Transforming in particular takes a lot of energy in the beginning."
Tyler got out of bed. We both looked for clothes from the closet and disappeared into the bathroom with an encouraging smile.
I looked skeptically at the things he had put down for me.
Normal black trousers, a dark blue top and gabz normal underwear. Nothing that would somehow indicate that today would be anything special.
Do I have to change clothes later? Or would I just carry the things on to the ritual?
I didn't know, but I could also imagine that maybe the werewolves just didn't care.
Clothes in general seemed pretty irrelevant, especially for some of them.
Tyler came out of the bathroom and stopped abruptly.
"Come on Lily, just freshen up a little, change, and then we'll go downstairs."
Still quite exhausted from lack of sleep, I just nodded, grabbed my clothes and went to the bathroom.
To be honest, I'd rather have me crawled up here until the time came. I didn't feel like eating or interacting with others at the moment.
But Tyler was probably right that it would be better to eat something.
At the moment I didn't even know if I was after the bite and the after that the pain could still eat and drink until the change or if the pain was all I would feel after that.
When I got out of the bathroom I still didn't feel any better and wanted to go back to bed, but I probably wouldn't be able to sleep again.
I looked at Tyler uncertainly. He smiled timidly at me and took my hand.
"I'd like to tell you that it won't be that bad, but that's just not true. But I know you'll get through this. You will then be my Luna and together we will make the world a better place where werewolves and humans no longer live in a ruler and subordinate system, but with each other. We can make this world a better place for everyone."
Those words were probably meant to comfort me, and Tyler meant well, but I got stuck on the word 'get over it'.
That word made me swallow, did he mean that not everyone survived the transformation?
