Hunter, a feared alpha known to everyone.
It's time for him to choose his mate.
But what happens if his soul mate appears right now and she is taboo for him?
----
"I'm not allowed to love you!" Hunter said to me.
It felt like someone was ripping my heart out of my chest. Why did his words only hurt?
Hunter removed a strand of hair from my face and stepped closer.
"And yet I do it!" he whispered softly.
"We live here?" I asked my mother angrily when I saw the house in front of us.
She giggled nervously and replied, "I know you like the city life. But trust me, you'll love it here."
I got out of the taxi and was immediately greeted by a raindrop. I snorted annoyed and said to my mother: "Why are we moving to a city where it rains all the time?"
"You know that your father has a new job. He actually wanted to pick us up at the airport, but he has to work right now."
"He's not my father!" I snapped.
"When are you going to accept him? After all, we've been married for 2 years."
I rolled my eyes annoyed and waited for my mother at the entrance to the house. She took the house key from her pocket and unlocked it.
The house was large and very nicely decorated. But it didn't feel like home. More like a furniture store. Cold and desolate.
"Do you like it?" my mother asked.
"Where's my room?" I asked directly.
She sighed loudly and described the way to me. I quickly ran there and fell onto the bed without even paying attention to the furniture. I didn't care what my room looked like. I wanted my own.
My life had turned 180 degrees three years ago. The day my father died. Not only I, but also my mother was devastated. Charles, my stepfather, took advantage of this. He had been my father's best friend and I had noticed the looks he gave my mother before. A year after my father died, they got married. I still resented my mother for this. If I really loved someone, I wouldn't marry the next-best. I would not marry at all.
Sure, as a good daughter you should be happy that your own mother can laugh again. But unfortunately I couldn't come to terms with it. Well, not if you really knew Charles. Not only did I like him, no. I despised him.
There was a knock on the door, but I stayed silent. I also kept my head down on my pillow.
The door squeaked open and the next second I heard my mother's voice.
"Darling, I'm going to go shopping. If you need anything, call me."
With these words she left my room and I remained lying there. My thoughts wandered back to my old life. of my memories To my friends, whom I now probably never saw again. In this town, I'll probably get depressed.
I didn't know how much time had passed. But the door, which squeaked open, interrupted the painful memories.
My mother came to me without a word and sat on the edge of the bed. My face was still buried in my pillow.
She stroked my head briefly and I realized something was wrong. I jumped when the hand touched my butt.
I looked in disgust at my stepfather, who was looking at me lasciviously.
"What the hell was that about?" I asked angrily, fighting back tears.
"Someday you will too."
With these words he left my room and left me alone. Tears ran down my cheeks and I felt dirty. The problem was that it wasn't the first time. He had done this before when my mother wasn't home.
At first I tried to explain it to my mother. She hadn't believed me. She thought this was a perverse way of wanting to separate them. I should think of something else. My mother didn't speak to me for a month after that.
If I had enough money, I would have moved out long ago. Until I saved up some money, at least I could finish high school.
In two years I can finally go to college.
The high school breaks down as follows:
The 9th graders are called freshmen.
The 10th graders sophomores.
I'm in 11th grade. We are also known as Juniors.
The Seniors are 12th graders and run the high school.
I just really hope that the high school I'm going to tomorrow will be the same as mine. Namely stress-free and not at all like in a Hollywood film. But that will be seen tomorrow.
"You made me late for class again!" scolded my little sister Ella.
I groaned in annoyance, grabbed my pillow and threw it right in her face.
"Hunter!" she shrieked.
"One day I'll get back at you. Just wait and see!"
A smile formed on my lips as she left my room. I loved teasing her. Still, she was right. If I didn't get up right away, we'd be late. As an Alpha, I had to be a role model for everyone. That's why I couldn't afford to make any mistakes.
I had only been the Alpha of the Black Moon pack for a year. My father died unexpectedly, so I had to follow in his footsteps from an early age.
It was a big responsibility that I took on. Even though I was so young, I learned quickly. Now the whole world knew me. Or as far as the supernatural was concerned. I was pretty strong for my age. Which of course was also due to the fact that I was a hybrid. My mother was a werewolf, my father a vampire. That's why most of me were afraid. I possessed the abilities of both beings, which made me almost immortal.
Many think that vampires were impotent. However, this was not true.
Ella and Carter, on the other hand, were thoroughbred werewolves. Well, hybrids are rare. If not even, hardly. I personally didn't know anyone.
As the only known hybrid, I had a great responsibility. I needed a woman by my side. The future Luna of the pack. A Luna was essential to a wolf pack.
I had already made my choice, even if I wasn't entirely happy with it.
Zoe Fox. Her father was himself the alpha of a powerful pack. He had proposed this alliance. If I refused, it would not end well. So I had no other choice.
Personally, I just found them annoying and exhausting. One thing I already knew, I could never love her. But that's exactly what I wanted.
A Luna was always in danger. An easy prey to weaken the Alpha. Precisely because I didn't love her, her loss couldn't hurt me. I chose her because I didn't care.
The official mating ceremony would take place in a month. Until then, I tried to avoid Zoe as much as possible. I just didn't like them, but as an alpha you had to make sacrifices for the pack.
...
"Hello Hunter!" Some of my classmates greeted me respectfully. I just nodded to them and walked towards class with my best friend Jake.
Since Jake had been my closest friend since childhood and almost like a brother to me, I made him my beta straight away. I never really liked the former beta of the pack - my uncle. I had a bad feeling about him.
"Oh no, your future one is coming our way!" I heard Jake murmur under his breath.
He was the only one who knew I hated that girl. But he also knew that I had no choice but to make her my mate.
"Hunter!" Her voice shrilled in my ears.
Zoe grabbed my arm and roughly pulled me with her.
"Will you take me to my classroom?" she asked me.
"I don't have time. I'm almost late myself!" I said snippy.
"We'll be together in a month. Like husband and wife. Start treating me like your mate."
I expelled air from my lungs in irritation.
"You don't deserve to be called mate. After all, we both know very well that you are not my soul mate . You will only be Luna and my companion."
She pouted and gave me an offended look.
"You're unfair. But for now I'll let it go. We'll see in a month."
"Are you threatening me?" I growled softly.
There was a hint of fear in her eyes before she answered confidently: "You must make me your companion. Otherwise there will be war. You know that very well. If you will excuse me, I have to go to class."
I angrily ran a hand over my brown hair and wanted to make my way to the classroom myself. Since my emotions were just a little out of control, I didn't notice someone coming around the corner. It wasn't until our collision that my senses came back.
The girl lost her balance from our impact, so I automatically wrapped my hands around her waist and held her to keep her from touching the ground.
A gust of air twirled her brown hair and made my heart skip a beat.
your scent. Her beguiling scent robbed me of all my senses. I had never smelled anything so compelling in my life. The girl smelled of spring. Flowery, like roses, lavender and jasmine.
"Excuse me...!", I suddenly heard her angelic voice, which made goosebumps run through my whole body.
Before I had any inkling of who this girl was to me, she lifted her head and stared straight into my eyes.
Her light brown eyes were like liquid caramel and in all my life I had never seen a more beautiful girl.
I knew exactly who she was. my mate that I never wanted to meet.
