I looked at the petite figure in my bed with concern. If I wasn't worried I would be happy to have my little one in my bed. Right where she belonged.
I didn't know if it was a good sign that she hadn't run away screaming. what would be better Run away or pass out?
I sighed and brushed Luna's hair aside. She was beautiful and I was head over heels in love with her. Maybe I should have fought for her earlier. Maybe I should have confessed everything to her sooner. Because I knew one thing. The way she learned what I am was definitely the shittiest way.
I heard someone coming and looked towards the door. About ten seconds later, Ella opened it and peered inside.
"May I come in?" she whispered so as not to wake Luna.
I nodded, so she sat down on a chair and said, "The party's over. Everyone was surprised you didn't get married. After all, that was the plan. You and Zoe. Today."
"Plans change and to this day I don't know why I even considered it!" I said angrily.
"What happened?" she asked, nodding towards the bed.
"She knows what I am."
I roughly told her what had happened and saw how pale she became with every further word.
"What happens when she wakes up?" she asked worried.
"Then I hope she doesn't run away screaming from me."
"I know I've always been against it and it might be the wrong way to go. But you could manipulate her into accepting it."
My eyes widened.
"Out of the question. I wanted to do it then. To make her forget me and I regret that to this day. I will never do that to her. If she doesn't want anything to do with me...then I'll have to accept it. Me can't force her to be with me."
"What if she really doesn't want it?"
"I'm not going to give up without a fight!" I said open-minded.
Ella smiled at me and stood up.
"I'm proud of you Hunter. Our parents would be proud of you!" she said hugging me.
...
The bed moved slightly and I held my breath. It was three in the morning and Luna had been unconscious for several hours. I was already worried, so I was relieved that she woke up.
She slowly opened her eyes and blinked several times. Suddenly she sat up with a jerk and I knew she was remembering everything again.
Her eyes fell on me and I was relieved to see that she wasn't staring at me in fear.
"It wasn't a dream, was it?" she asked quietly.
"I wish I had taught you differently."
She took a deep breath before speaking, "You are...you...you are..."
"...a werewolf!" I finished her sentence.
"How is that possible?" she asked calmly.
"You could just transform. Just like that, without a full moon!"
I smiled at her statement: "We can transform at any time. We don't need a full moon for that."
"Could you possibly tell me why I still haven't run away screaming and I'm still not scared of you?" she asked.
I hesitantly took her hand and clasped it. Luckily for me, she let it.
"The reason is that you trust me blindly. No matter how dangerous I am, you will never be afraid of me. Because you know perfectly well that I will protect you with my life and could never harm you."
"Why?" she breathed, confused.
"Because you're my mate!" I answered her softly.
"Mate? Okay, I've heard that a lot. What does that mean?"
"Every werewolf has only one mate in their life. A human meant only for them. Their soul mate. Once you meet them, you can't imagine life without them. You would give your life even for their tears . You would do anything for her. You will only love her until you breathe."
Luna stared at me silently. You could see that she was overwhelmed with this whole situation. However, she tried not to let it show to her.
"Does that mean you really love me?"
I brought her hand to my mouth and kissed the back of her hand.
"More than my life."
Hearing that he loved me sparked so many feelings in me.
I didn't know what to do or say. In front of me was not just a boy. Before me stood the boy I was in love with. Who could turn into a werewolf at any time.
He was right. I wasn't afraid of him. I trusted him blindly no matter how dangerous he seemed. But still there was a question on my tongue that more than occupied me.
"Do you only love me because of this mate connection? Wouldn't you care if it didn't exist?"
Hunter seemed to understand my concerns as he gave me a warm smile before answering.
"I know what that looks like for you. But it's not just the bond. The bond showed me the way to you. It was through it that I felt attracted to you at the beginning. Believe me when I tell you that mine Feelings for you now go far from deeper Bonding alone is not enough that every time I see you I believe everything will be fine I long for you every moment At school, my eyes are constantly searching for you. As soon as I see you, my worries disappear. My concerns. My problems. I perceive nothing but you. You are my air that I need to breathe. My light that shows me the way in the dark. My everything. I can't be without you for a second."
My heart was pounding wildly in my chest. Tears formed in my eyes. Hearing those words was just too much. I never thought someone could mean so much.
"I love you, little one!" he said, really crushing me.
Without even thinking about it, I jumped into Hunter's arms. At first he was taken aback, but even when he held me, I knew it.
I couldn't live another second without him. I didn't care what he was or what he did. This feeling was overwhelming.
"I'll never let you go from now on!" he said quietly.
I smiled to myself and buried my head even more in his chest. Whether I could ever let go of him was questionable.
"I think I have to confess something to you!" Hunter said after several minutes.
I pulled away from him slightly so I could see his worried eyes. However, his hands did not leave me.
"You know they call me Alpha. Well, that's because I'm the Alpha of the wolf pack. We're in the pack house here."
I blinked a few times.
"Does that mean I'm surrounded by several werewolves here?" I asked anxiously.
Hunter's grip tightens: "Nobody would ever harm you. They'll be delighted to meet their Luna. By the way, it's Alpha's mate name, Luna. That's why I love your name."
I swallowed hard. That explained the strange behavior at the beginning.
"So you're the leader? Was that why you were bigger than the wolves that tried to attack us yesterday?"
"Yes, that's one of the reasons. There are several packs. Each of them has a leader, so the alpha. He's the strongest in the pack. However, I'm the strongest of all the alphas."
His facial expression changed.
"Why is that bad? You look so sad."
"I'm a hybrid."
Quietly.
"Does that mean...?"
"I'm half-werewolf. Half-vampire. A witch has mostly supplanted my vampiric side. I don't live forever and I don't drink blood. Well, until I've tasted a drop of blood. That's when the spell breaks ."
Okay, I would have to digest that. However, he was not a vampire.
"So that means you just can't take blood. Isn't that...doable?"
He took a deep breath. The subject seemed to unsettle him.
"Every werewolf wants nothing but to mark their mate. They can't help themselves. However...if I marked you, I would taste your blood. I would become a full hybrid and since you're human, you could turning you into a vampire. That's the last thing I want. It's just getting harder and harder not to mark you. Especially when there's a full moon."
"Was ist da?"
"The urge to make you mine is unbearable. I could hardly control myself."
"Tomorrow is full moon!" I stated.
