It was just hair-raising.
The twins clearly seemed to be at odds about something.
That would be relatively irrelevant to me if I didn't know it was about me.
The two obviously had no intention of discussing this in front of me.
But they are constantly glaring at each other and I just sat there in between.
A position that you didn't want, considering that the two could transform into two gigantic beasts.
To be honest, I was just waiting to see which of the two had burned out the fuse first.
"Eat." Jared said to me and shoved a plate in front of my nose.
To be honest, I didn't know what it was all about.
One was probably meat from some animal and the other was probably ground vegetables, but it was completely mashed.
Doubtfully I looked at the other twin.
Jared sighed annoyed.
"Don't worry.", Luke said: "You can eat that, there's nothing in it."
With raised eyebrows I went through this mass of yellowish stuff with the fork, with some orange and green spots in between
You should be able to eat that?
"That sure looks a bit strange for you.", Luke jumped to my side again: "This is a piece of roast beef and this one is a puree of potatoes, peas and carrots."
I kept glancing back and forth between food and Luke, doubtful.
I was really extremely hungry and I somehow believe Luke with his statements. But the other twin just completely threw me off.
My stomach growled.
"I think I'd rather get you something else.", Luke said, grabbed the plate and left the room. "
My goodness, what a riot.", the other twin grumbled.
Shortly afterwards, however, the other came back.
"Here," he said: "Some raw food. Carrot and kohlrabi. Just peeled and cut into small pieces. Not boiled, fried or anything else."
With these words he put a bowl in front of my nose where the things were cut into bite-sized pieces.
"That's not a full meal."
Luke just rolled his eyes.
"Yes, I know. But it's still something.
Do you have a better suggestion?"
Annoyed, the other just growled, got up and started to leave the house.
"Jared? Where do you want to go now?" "
I'll get a second opinion." He only grumbled.
,,Patrick will also tell you the same thing. It's still better than not eating at all."
"I didn't want to go to the old know-it-all anyway." "
Where to then?"
"I'm going to see Tyler. He must know better. After all, he seems to be far better than us in the whole companion thing." "
Man Jared. You can't compare them at all."
"Oh, I don't think it's that different.
She's scared like Lily was first and no longer has a family like Lily." Jared said and slammed the door out of the house.
Apparently at his wits end, Luke rested his head on his hands.
Unsure what to do I looked at him.
Luke sighed after a few seconds and looked up again.
,,Everything's ok. I know the mood is weird right now. But you would be really doing us a favor if you would eat a little more."
I glanced down at the bowl, grabbed a piece of vegetable and ate it.
"Thank you," he said and forced a smile.
"But let's seize the moment. There's one more thing I think you should definitely know. Something that affects you, us, and your connection to the pack."
"As you may have noticed, you've been here for a while. Unfortunately, most of the time you were unconscious or in a coma.
We've been hoping for a really long time that you'd wake up on your own. But your condition remained unchanged.
Jared and I were pretty desperate. There was also a lot of stress. Tyler had just been made alpha around the time and Jared his beta.
The pack also needed and still needs strong leadership. We found something that gave us hope."
Confused but attentive, I looked at Luke.
I still couldn't quite understand what he wanted from me now. But I gushed that it was probably not good.
"You know, turning into a werewolf can heal a lot." He suddenly cut in: "Lily, our Luna, is the best example of that herself. She had a bad neck injury as a child, which led to that she could no longer speak. However, her transformation was able to help the injury to be healed and she was then able to speak again. That
is one of the greatest advantages of the transformation.
It can heal many wounds and almost all diseases.
So it Can't salvage severed body parts, we're not amphibians after all, but paralysis can be healed almost 100%."
"I don't think I can keep up, somehow." I whispered softly.
"We were so desperate at the time that we decided to try this path."
Horrified, I asked, "So you just wanted to turn me into a werewolf like that!"
"No," he said quietly, looking rather concerned: "Not only did we want to do this, we did it."
Unable to say anything, I stared at Luke.
My mind was racing, but somehow I just couldn't keep up.
"How..." escaped my lips, I still didn't think I had fully understood what was going on.
"The whole thing was a process in two parts.", Luke said softly: "Due to your medical condition, we put this one as close together as possible. The first part is the companion bite and the second part is the alpha bite. The first
bite Both Jared and I did it and thus tied you to us as our mate. The last one, the alpha bite, was done by Tyler.
We scheduled the whole thing as close as possible to the next full moon, which is the one from a few days ago, and there you turned into a wolf for the first time, still unconscious."
There was silence for a moment.
"Maybe you should lie down after all." Luke remarked: "You've just turned quite pale."
"But - but.", I said: "That can't be at all...
I mean, I would notice that, wouldn't I?!"
I looked at him in panic.
"It is so. You just don't realize it because you were unconscious during your first transformation.
Physically you are completely transformed. Only the psychological level is behind you. That's why you couldn't actively change yourself."
"I- I don't believe you. I should notice that! After all, werewolves have so many differences to humans."
"If you want, I can show you the proof.", he said hesitantly and gave me his hand. "
I would only be very grateful if you don't move too fast. I'm afraid that you're about to fall over."
"How do you want to prove that to me?" I asked hesitantly.
"Upstairs in the bathroom there is a large mirror. You should still be able to see the scars from the bites on your neck and shoulder area."
I clutched my neck, startled.
I felt uncertainly over the skin. But I couldn't really feel anything like that.
