Lana
I walked outside slowly. I didn't know what the consequences of my decisions were but I have taken them. It was either that or hand her over to Mike the secret service agent. If she confessed the level of atrocities we did to her then it's going to be a straightforward war. There are no two questions about but I would choose my enemies at present I didn't want them to be mine. After the wedding, he may back off but only after. He is going to be there I am sure. He would only trust his eyes just like me.
I went to the training ground to let off some steam. Guys have already shifted and started practice. I spotted Seb sitting down looking thoughtful. I went to him and sat exactly next to him. He looked deep in thought. "Hey man! I called him and he turned his face towards me. I saw a tiny smile and he looked sheepish. " I'm sorry alpha about my outburst. I shouldn't have done that. I should be punished for my behaviour but you would never do that", he said. "No, I wouldn't be proud of how you kept your voice. I didn't feel threatened or challenged. You can be open with me as your brother. I thought we established that already", I told him.
His eyes were wet. I held him tight. He was my brother. He lost his parents because o my mate. He fears history is going to repeat itself and she is going to do everything once again. I wanted to reassure him that it won't happen again. But I didn't feel assured enough to do so. My head was always at war with my heart but I'm trying to do my best. This wasn't the right time to have more enemies. It's better to ignore the small issues than to focus on bigger things.
I pulled him from where he sat and pushed him to practice. " We want to spar in teams, who's interested?", I asked them. Tony gave me an evil eye last time I beat him to the curb. I came forward because no one else did. He looked around for a partner. Finally, Marina came forward to spar. The guys cheerfully applauded her. We took our position Seb was in front of me to give me cover. We have decided that Seb would tackle Marina and I would take on Li since he was a lot stronger. Their plan was also similar.
But when they came forward they changed the tactic and Marina came at me and Li tackled Seb. They planned to distract me for a second to have Seb. But they knew I wasn't going to go down. I used to take ten wolves at the same time during the war. Though it was hard for me to kill those people, I would always try to warn them to take someone else. But they wanted the glory of killing the black wolf so they died at my hands. I was a cursed wolf. I have blood on my hands. Maybe that's why the moon goddess never gave me a happy life with my mate.
I hated the war. I wanted to avoid one at all costs but I was pushed each time into one, unfortunately. I just couldn't get out of it. My life was destined to be unhappy and I have learned to live with that. I wish it was normal and happy but it isn't and is never going to be. It could be either because of bad karma or my mate. We will never be happy ever after. The recent incidents only show how right I was.
I quickly tackle both of them with my front paws earning another applause. Seb was lying down let out a growl happy for my win. Though he couldn't contribute much I hope he learned what I was trying to teach him. It doesn't matter how much we prepare, sometimes we have to take our enemies to head down without much preparation. I was capable of handling the threat alone. The appearance can be deceptive. He nodded in my direction as though he understood I gave him my best wolfish grin. Marina was a little sore I thought but Li was used to the pain. Tackling me was not easy because of the terrible pain aftermath they had to endure.
I beg someone to practice with me so I'm not rusty in combat. I stay holed up in the office for the rest of my day. But this time I felt really good since Seb fought along with me and his fears were pulled away. I hope it remains for the rest of our lives. Because my mate is going to be with us for the long haul. I suspect this is another evil plan concocted by. She wants to revel in the drama she had created. So this may go for a long time.
I wanted to stay there but reluctantly I left because I had to go to the office and give Lana orders. They were sad that I wasn't going to remain for the rest of the practice. "Duty calls sorry boys", I told them and walked towards my office reluctantly. When I reached there Lana was there typing away on her laptop.
" Hey", I greeted her. "Hello Alpha", why do you always go to training after meeting her?", she asked me. " To cool off ", I said, shrugging my shoulders. She smiled and said, " I wonder what's going to happen post marriage?", she said. "Don't think too much about it ", I told her. She gave her head a shake to ward off unnecessary thoughts.
" The wedding is on?", she asked me. "Wedding is on", I confirmed. "That means more work for me I guess", she sighed. " You better get on with it", I told her. "I have to go back to that place", she mocks, shuddering. " I guess", I told her. "That place gives me chills", she told me. I knew that I didn't like that either but she had put herself there.
" I will order her release soon and convey that information to her but she will be on guard. She wanted a big wedding. Meet me right after your discussion", I ordered my secretary. She went to meet the glorious bride. I don't know how she will be received but considering we lied to her about her being with her and not me it wasn't going to be a bad one. My secretary was not scared but she stayed away from conflicts of all kinds. She was a peaceful person who liked to be buried in work. That reminded me my work was pending because of continuous distraction.
I gathered the paper files before me and started reading the reports of various departments. We had an allocation of wealth and sometimes we even got some assistance from the human government as long as we stayed put here. We can go out with permission from me and the office. But they are going to be watched on their every move. That's the reason why the majority of people choose to live here and not venture out of the reservation.
We have clean water, air and most of all family. We are content here and that's how we are going to remain here. I loved my parents but this was my family and I would always give it a priority. I was visited by our department heads to give me an overview of their activities. The school, community kitchen, library were only some of them. I read them all till my head was aching. I pushed away from the chair and kept impatiently tapping on the floor. Is this going to be my life? I wondered. Am I going to be waiting for her information all my life? It was unlikely since once we get married she is going to remain with me.
At last, my patience was rewarded by my Secretary who quickly got to me. She looked as if she was in pain. I grew frustrated and asked, "what's it?", I asked her. "Nothing, it's just that place that gives me an eerie feeling whenever I visit there", she told me, shivering. I sighed I could have seen their exchange on camera but I don't want to cross the limits of checking up on her to grow my obsession and simply give in to my wolf.
" She doesn't care which day the wedding was as long as it is soon. She is happy with the pack members only and doesn't want any bridesmaids. She said she wanted a wedding dress and accessories but is going to wait for the wedding day to reveal what it was. I was scared of this part she snickered while saying this. Overall, I didn't think it was going to be any good. I would love you to reconsider the decision.
"You know I don't change my decisions easily Lana. I can handle everything she throws at me. But I would like to thank you for everything you have done for me, especially in the capacity of my secretary and outside", I told her. She shrugged away my compliment and asked," So when is your big day again?"
"Tomorrow since I want to get over this as quickly as possible but I want you to be very careful so far they haven't noticed you as an impostor. But once they do your life could be in danger", I reminded her. She sighed as though it didn't concern her. " I don't worry about my death. I would gladly lay down my life for you", she told me. "Thank you Lana", I whispered.
