Gift

The kiss was all consuming but I felt the timing was wrong. I didn't want her to kiss me for my favour so I broke the kiss. She looked a little disappointed at my breaking away from our kiss. I wanted to jump up and down like a child. She wants me just as I want her. But reigned in my emotions not wanting to give into them so fast.

"I have some more work to do", I told her thinking of the extra supervision I had to do because of the growing tensions in the boundaries. She looks sad now I felt like an idiot. The patrolling was important but the main thing is that I need to get some space. Her kisses were like drugs it was giving me a head rush. I need to go some place to calm myself. So I will just use that time to calm myself and do some productive work.

But we were interrupted by Lana and I felt relieved that she didn't come earlier. I wasn't a shy type but my mate was and it would have embarrassed the hell out of her.

" What is it?", I asked a bit tougher than necessary. My mate flinched at my tone she wasn't used to my high handedness. But Lana seemed unfazed since she is used to temper tantrums.

"Lis is here", she said looking at my mate completely ignoring me . I deserved that for that tone. I was sure my mom would have smacked me. She won't care if I was her boss or not. My mate looked as if she was rewarded most precious thing in the world. I wasn't the only one who held her heart and damn it hurt for a second.

"Take my mate to see her. I hope you have made her comfortable", I told Lana.

" Yes Sir. She is right now sipping our best wine and flirting with Tony", she said with a smile.

"Tony is a manwhore I hope you warned her", I told her since I don't want her friend to get hurt.

" I would say he had finally met his match", said Lana.

"Well good for him", I told her and left the room after giving a quick kiss to my mate. She blushed in response and I felt like a winner for reciting that from her.

I went to my office and found Liam and Seb sitting in our office. They looked at me and stood up. I motioned them to sit down. I never wanted them to give me ceremonial respect but they felt comfortable only if they show respect. So I let them to practice whatever they felt they should do.

" What's the latest update!", I asked them casually.

"Nothing worth mentioning. The patrol team came back and there was no suspicious activity", said Liam. I nodded my head in response and felt relieved there wasn't another headache for me tonight.

" Luna's human friend is here. I think we should watch them", said Seb.

"Lana and Tony is with them at the moment. So I wouldn't waste time worrying about them", I told Seb.

" But with her past who knows", said Seb dismissively.

"Everyone here has a past and so does she. I don't care about her past and so shouldn't you", I told Seb. I have told him not to talk about my mate in a derogatory manner. Seb how ever fails to get that through his skull.

" I'm sorry Alpha that was inappropriate", he said.

"I hope you mean it Seb ", I said to him.

I began looking over at some paperwork that was pending from last time. This shit never seems to get over. I should start delegating more to Tony. But he was least interested in them as me. I wonder if I should ask Liam or Seb.

I saw Tony and Lana coming towards us. I stopped my work and decided to ask them how was the things with my mate and her friend. I hope she doesn't demand to back with her friend.

" We came here since they want to talk privately. It was jarring to stay there awkwardly. Tony had lost his charm with the ladies it seems", said Lana. Tony protested at this weakly.

"It's Ok. They can talk what ever they want. They are heavily guarded. The guards will catch anything suspicious", I told them. I once again immersed myself in the paperwork.

" One more thing she has asked to spend the night with her friend", said Lana. My hands on the paper stilled. So I will be alone tonight but in some ways it will be good. It might save her body from me for now.

"It's Ok. I have no issue if it is just for tonight", I emphasized.

" Have they gone to bed?", I asked after some time.

"It didn't seem so", said Lana.

" I haven't met Lis formally. It is common courtesy to do that", I told them. I closed the file and walked towards the door. I waved to my guys who stood up respectfully.

When I reached there they were laughing at something. It was refreshing to hear her laugh like the sound of a flowing river. It was calm and serene. Both the girls looked at me surprised.

"Im sorry to barge in to your conversation like that. But I haven't met your best friend formally , so I guessed now is a better time", I said.

"It's a pleasure to meet you again as the husband of my best friend", she said.

" I'm sorry we couldn't invite you. It all happened so fast", I told her.

"That's Ok. Im just so happy for my friend", she said.

" I hope you stay for a few days and let us make up to you for stealing your best friend away", I told her.

"I would love to stay but I have to work. Not everyone can escape the world by getting married to guy whom you met right away and live in reservation for the rest of my life", she jibed at me.

" I know it can be overwhelming for you but I tell you that we found each other and didn't want to waste time ", I said. She looked at me for a second and looked away.

" I'm sorry that was a mean thing to say but I'm pretty sad I lost my only friend", she said.

"I have got her doesn't necessarily mean you lost her. She will always be your best friend", I said not wanting to hurt my mate or her friend.

" Wow he certainly knows how to talk", she said with a sigh.

"Im going to sleep now I'm wiped", I told them with a smile. I walked away with a smile since it went really well than I expected.
