COULD IT BE LOVE
CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN
RYAN'S POV
I couldn't hold back my anger when the boys returned with bad news. Why is it so difficult to lay my hands on Jay or his loved ones?
He seemed to be smart enough to know how to prevent the attack. I'm so frustrated right now that I need to pour it out on someone.
I'm sure one of my men is leaking the information of my plans to someone working for Jay. I need to know who it is and get rid of him as soon as possible and also come up with a master plan to ruin him.
I want to see his downfall by all means. Did he take me for a fool not to find out who sent those men to beat him up and steal the evidence I've against Hopkins and his friends?
I knew Hopkins was the one who told Jay and I promise I'll make sure he pays for what he did but first, I need to make Jay pay for having me go through hell.
"Joe, get all the boys ready. I know someone is telling our plans to someone working for Jay and I must find him." I ordered.
"All the men are obedient, master.
"Why are you saying that or are you feeding the information to the enemy?"
"I would never do that to you, master."
"Then, shut the f**k up and do what I said." I flared.
"Yes master."
I'll make life become unbearable for whosoever is involved in the failure of the attack. He will regret ever joining hands with my enemy.
SARAH'S POV
I was chatting with Aunt while she was feeding me when Mr Russell walked in with a shopping bag and a bouquet of rose flowers in his hand.
“This is for you. Max asked me to get it for you as a sign of love from him." He said, handing the rose flower and shopping to me while, aunt stared at him in surprise.
Should I really believe his words? Did Max really ask him to get it for me or did he get it for me and use Max's name just to get away with it? Why do I have a feeling he really does care for me but doesn't want to admit it?
"Thank you, sir but where is Max?"
“He's outside with Henry."
“Tell me something Jay, why couldn't you give it to Max himself to bring it since he was the one who asked you to get them?" Aunt asked, curiously as he tried to find the word to say but couldn't.
“It's okay aunt. I'm sure Max must have insisted he should bring it himself." I answered.
“I see, there's no doubt then. So, what did the doctor say about taking Sarah home?" She asked.
“He has agreed to have her discharged today and will assign a nurse to look after her until she recovers."
“That's great then. She will feel relaxed and comfortable while she's at the mansion." She smiled gracefully at me.
“I'll leave you both to talk while I go check on Max." She added and quickly left.
I don't know what Mr Russell and I have to discuss when she pretty well knows we are not close to each other. She really wants both of us to get closer to each other
“How do you feel, now?" He asked, taking a seat close to the bed.
“Much better. It doesn't hurt that much." I replied while he nodded his head.
"There's something I've been wanting to ask you. He began with a pause before proceeding, "Why do you treat my son with so much love?"
"Uh… To be honest, I love having kids around me. They're always carefree, sweet and cute. The more Max acts so adorable, the more I keep loving him, that's how it is."
"Alright. I just want to appreciate your love towards him. It really is a life changing experience for him without having to get his mother's love and also, I'll like to apologize for the way he calls you mother. He just misses his mother, I hope you can understand."
"It's no problem. I understand his situation, that's why I had to let him be."
"That's all. Thank you."
"You're welcome, sir."
"I'll send in, aunt to help you get ready so we can leave." He said, getting on his feet.
"Okay sir." I replied, before he walked out of the room.
I knew I couldn't tell him when I saw his son. I knew the little boy was missing his mother's love in his life. That's why I took it upon myself to show him so much love so he won't continue to feel sad and unhappy.
JAYDEN'S POV
That wasn't the question I wanted to ask her. I just couldn't bring myself to ask her what she saw in me that made her fall in love with me.
I don't know why I felt nervous when I sat next to her. It was as if a fierce fire had awoken in me as I felt so attracted to her even more.
About the flowers and chocolate, it was my idea but I just used Max as an excuse just like aunt was suspecting.
I don't know how but I found myself getting them just for her which I don't understand why I did that. How can someone be irresistible around her? I feel I'm really going nuts having to think about her all the time.
**
I walked over to the car where Sarah was and opened the door for her, before helping her out.
"You don't have to stress yourself, sir. Aunt will assist me inside." She stated.
"I insist. The doctor said you shouldn't stress yourself in any way." I replied and picked her up in a bridal style before heading inside the mansion.
I got to her bedroom and slowly placed her on the bed.
"I'm sorry for making you go through a lot."
"You need to relax just like the doctor said. You don't have to worry about taking care of Max. Aunt and I will look after him until you get better."
"Thank you so much sir."
"Do you need something hot to take so I can ask a maid to make it for you?"
"No, sir. I'm okay. Thank you for your concern."
"Get some rest." I uttered before walking out of the room.
Am I really over doing things since I feel she risked her life to protect my son or is there really something to that?
"What's with the attitude today, Jay?" Aunt inquired, as I stepped out of Sarah's room.
"Nothing aunt. I'm only concerned about her since she got shot while protecting Max."
"Is that it or is there something you're not saying?"
"That's it, aunt. I want to go take a shower."
"Why are you trying to avoid the question or is my guess right? Are you in love with her?"
I think that's the question I should really be asking myself. Am I really in love with Sarah?
