.......
I think I'm allowed to leave my mouth wide open for 2 minutes or more. I mean, It's not every day you see a long black shiny limousine packed right in front of your house And it's also not every day you get to ride in one also.
"You're really going to the party in that limo?" Mum asked, looking hungrily at the vehicle. "Who did you say is celebrating the birthday again?" she asked.
"Someone you don't need to know" I muttered and quickly snatched my phone and pulled Lara's as I saw March getting down from the limo. Conversation with him and mum could mean no party so I told her goodbye and ran to the door.
"Are you going to be alright? What am I saying, you're in a limo of course you'll be fine" Mum said, smiling and waving at us.
"What are you doing?" I asked a smiling approaching March.
"Was planning to knock on your door"
"Not that, I mean.....the limo" I said, by this time, Lara had said her 'hi' and was already in the limo.
"I told you I was going to bring a Limo right?"
"I thought you were joking or something. Where did you get it?"
"My dad runs an automobile store all over the country so I just rented this one."
The way he said runs like he was talking about a DVD store or something.
"Wait a minute, how did you know my house?"
"I kind of followed you last Saturday."
"What?"
He shrugged.
"That's stalking. I could sue you"
"Now you're being dramatic, Remi. Let's get in already, I don't like the way these people are staring at me"
"They are so not staring at you. It's either me or the car"
"It's definitely, you. You look stunning"
"Don't be hilarious; the only thing that's stunning here is the car. Let's get in before my mum officially becomes paparazzi" I said and threw one last look at my house and smiled at my mum and her camera phone. I didn't blame her or anyone that also took pictures of the vehicle. If I wasn't riding in it, I probably would have done the same thing and post it on my blog. I'm sure the road of my street as never been blessed with the august visit of a limousine.
Okay, if I ever thought the external appearance was regal then I was tripping. You had to see the interior of the vehicle and the well dressed uniform Korean looking chauffeur. It was like a movie. I read You Go Girl and fantasized about the main character wanting love like a movie. My own life was becoming one huge Hannah Montana movie. Never in my life did I imagine that I would be seated in a limousine. Limousine had always been that type of vehicle you see in movies and fantasize about. Limousine is that type of vehicle you get sarcastic about. It was a plain fantasy to me. Now I was seating in it. I was sitting in the vehicle that conveyed celebrities to MET, BET, Grammy's and any kind of prestigious red carpet. Tomison was missing a great deal. I wondered if her Uber driver was a Korean oldie hotter. What was I saying? What she and Rotimi had was a driver. You know the kind that doesn't like the work but doesn't have a choice because he has to provide for his family kind of driver. This one driving us was a professional. He loved the job, he.......okay I was definitely losing it.
If there was one word I could use to describe the vehicle, it would be 'heavenly posh'
'Okay, that's two, but you get me right?'
Seating in the limo with us were three other teenagers I recognized as March's friends. I said my 'hi's' to their 'hello's' and 'thank you' to their 'Your hair looks beautiful' or their 'your gown looks breathtaking'
I know I look good, I mean I was sure I looked so good, but somehow I knew they were just teasing me. Maybe it was the way they said it or the way they looked more superb and radiant. The one boy among them looked almost as good as March. Yeah, I checked him out.
"Where's your other friend?" one of the girls asked.
"Which......"
"She talking about Tomison" Lara interrupted me. "She's fine. You know her?"
"Of course, we attend the same class and she's like best of friends with Aisha. You know Aisha right? Of course you know her, heard the recording on Facebook"
She was definitely a talker, an annoying one at that.
"She's already at the party" I answered her initial question.
"Oh, why?"
"Didn't you just say she's best of friends with Aisha?" I answered as politely as I could and ignored Lara's stare.
"So you're March's date?" the boy asked Lara.
I watched as my friend went all jellyfish. She'd obviously been checking him out
"Yeah, yeah I am"
"No offense, but don't you think you're too much for him?" the boy smirked at her. Actually, if you've ever seen or been inside a limo, you'd know the sitting arrangement is placed In such a way that you can see everyone around you. Whoever thought of that sitting arrangement deserves an Oscar or something? So chic.
"How do you mean?" Lara asked, avoiding the boy's gaze.
Woah!
"You look like you'd fit better with me" he flirted on. Come to think of it, the boy was actually big. So I guess one Big boy deserves a Big Girl.
"I think what Chidi is trying to say is that you should be his date" The other girl who has been silent for a while spoke up with an absent look on her beautiful face.
"He doesn't have a date?" I asked
"Yeah" the talker answered.
"So you both are together?" I gestured at both girls. They nodded and gave me an 'isn't it obvious look'
"So how did he plan on getting in?" I asked."
"We figured if the dating rule stood he'll hang out with Sin Su here" The quiet girl gestured her thumb at the Korean chauffeur.
"I don't have a date too, we can help each other out" I said, ignoring March's surprised look.
"You know what?" Chidi asked with a spark in his eye.
"What?" March asked, with what looked like a knowing look on his face.
"Why don't we exchange partners? March just give....."
"Lara" Lara said.
"Beautiful name....just give Lara to me and take Remi. You're obviously into her. You haven't gotten your eyes off her since she stepped into the car.
