Chapter 44 Lara
The society should really quit placing too much on the shoulders of the girl child. It is sickening.

"...............................he's also coming for the interview."
Could they really be talking about...March?
I felt the buzz in my ear again. Roland.
"Sis"
"Roland"
"Do you know who this, March is?"
Holding information to yourself is dangerous for the revenge plan. I heard Roland's warning ringing loud in my ear.
"He's....he was...."
"Calm down, take a deep breath."
I obeyed. "I'm calm" '
"Good. Now, talk"
I explained everything to him, the first time I met, march to the last time in his limousine.
"So you're saying you thought this, March guy was dead and forgotten?"
"Exactly. Maybe it's a different person they're talking about though."
"The coincidence is disturbing. I'll run a check on him. I'll get back to you tomorrow."
"Wait! Did you run a check on...Obinna?"
"I did"
"What did you...?"
"He's clean. He's who they say he is."
"What has he been up to?"
"Well, he's not been out there often, he's been socially dead and the only time he's seen is when he's visiting your grave or when he's attending formal parties with Aisha. I think she blackmailed him into whatever relationship they have"
"That doesn't make sense, what could she possibly have over him?"
"I intend to find out; I'll also get back to you on that." Roland said and ended the call after wishing me goodnight.
I slept that night with a million things going through my brain. A million things I intended to find out.
The next day, i went through the days plan with the Changs and got into the vehicle. If there was one thing I liked about my new face, it was the ability to step out without makeup and not be frowned upon. So I just touched my lips with a nude lip gloss, took care of my edges and scrolled through Aisha's facebook feed as I was being rode to school for my interview.
"This is your favorite Ultimate morning show and I'm your favorite host, TomisonAdeoti" the seductive voice of the radio presenter said and I felt a quick pain in my head.
'Tomison....Tomison....Lara! Oh my goodness!' I hit my head hard with my hands and ignored the look from the chauffeur. I was too engulfed with hatred and the revenge plan that I totally forgot about my friends. 'what type of a person have I become?' I thought to myself as I quickly searched Lara on Facebook.
I wasn't prepared for what I saw on her last post. There was a picture of her smiling beautifully with a caption that read; REST IN PEACE OMOLARA. YOU'RE AN ANGEL. WHO EVER HAD AN HAND IN YOUR DEATH WILL KNOW NO PEACE. SUN RE OOO.
She was dead. She was also dead! 'Oh no!' I felt my whole body shake as I clicked on the comment option.
Barae Slay: rest in peace, lara. I'll miss you.
Titi Biodun: RIP
Pastor Ajibade: Amen, they'll never have happiness how could they cut off her tongue and her fingers. such an horrible world we are in.
Itz Sly Boy Damzy: RiP SISTER, Pastor I'm sure it's all these ritualist. You needed to see her.
I threw my head back and fought back the tears that were threatening to drop unsuccessfully.
"Ma'am Heaven, are you alright?" the chauffeur asked.
'Am I alright? I just found out about the death of my friend, yes I'm alright.'
"I'm fine thank you"
I quivered as I typed Tomison's name on the search box. Nothing turn up, her name did not exist anymore. There was no history on our messenger; it was as if she never existed. Did people ghost up on facebook?
"We're here, ma'am," the chauffeur said. "There's this vehicle that followed us down here, I'm sure it's them" he said giving me a look.
"You're sure?" I asked, carefully wiping traces of tears off my face.
He nodded.
"I'll be there for like an hour or two"
"No problem" he answered and came down, turn round and pulled the door open for me..
"Thank you" I said silently and walked on, pretending not to be aware of their presence.
"Hey, look who we have here!" I heard the familiar voice of Aisha, turned back, and acted shocked.
"Oh my God, we meet again!" I said in my funny accent. I really wanted to rip her throat in that instant.
"We had no idea it was you in front of us all along," Tobi said and I wondered when he got there.
"Funny thing, my chauffeur could have sworn you were following us all along" I said and laughed. "Where is the other girl of yesterday she's not coming?"
"Oh, Emem? She's inside already; she came in early with her boyfriend."
"He studies here?" I asked as we walked in.
"About to" Aisha answered.
"Woah, all of you literally wanna take over the population of the school uh?" I joked and watched them with contempt as the laughed.
I got into the school reception and almost choked on spit at the sight of March looking impeccable in white suit and dark shoes, looking as good and handsome as the first time I saw him at Aisha's party. He looked.....alive.
"Is something wrong?" Aisha asked.
"Yeah, the horrible smell of this reception" I answered and took a deep breath as I walked on. We stopped in front of March and Aisha smiled as she introduced us.
"March, meet, Heaven, Heaven, March"
He stretched his hands towards me and displayed sparkling sets of teeth.
"It's a pleasure to meet you; you've got a nice name"
"Uhm, thank you. You've got a nice suit" I answered and took his hands. If I ever thought he was dead, it was totally erased because standing in front of him and feeling the warmth of his hands, he was definitely more alive than I was.
