Chapter 28

Scarlet’s POV

I got out of the limo that Aiden sent, mom is going to arrive later with her date, I haven’t met him yet but from the smile on her face I could tell that she was happy, still I was sad that she didn’t ride in the limo with me.

“Well, it won’t be the last time I ride in a limo, I bet I will be riding in a limo all the time as Mrs Braveheart” I said with the biggest smile on my face, Aiden’s face popped into my head, the first time we kissed and how his hands roamed free on my body sent chills down my spine.

I walked down a winding stairwell into the beautifully decorated hall, all the rich and famous from our kind from all over the world are here, coming from a poor family we have never been invited to the Mass Ball, but I have to say it absolutely lives up to the stories I’ve heard, I think I also saw the prince and princes earlier.

“Where is he?” I said looking around hoping to see him, the band started playing another song and the singer came in with the beat.

” We let the waters rise, we drifted to survive” she sang with the sweetest melody, the sadness in her voice touched my heart bringing an eerie feeling to my heart and giving the room a sombre mood.

“I needed you to stay, but I let you drift away” she continued, I got lost in her song it seemed to be pulling me in.

“May I have this dance” his voice familiar and very welcomed,

“I was beginning to think you had stood me up” I said taking his hand

“I wouldn’t dream of it, especially after seeing how hot you look in that dress” he said pulling me closer as he ran his fingers down the opening of my dress down my spine, It was a high slit off the shoulder ball gown

“Am I giving you any ideas Mr Braveheart?” I said with a smirk

“Whenever you’re ready, whenever you’re ready” the singer continued, I pulled him closer teasingly rubbing his face with my nose, he leaned in for a kiss.

“Uh, uh, uh” I said waving my finger in his face

“You left me unescorted for a while, you have to be punished” I said seductively pinching his butt

“Can we, can we surrender? I surrender” she sang on

“I will accept my punishment…I have been a very bad boy and I deserve to be…”

“Sir, your father requests your presence, he is waiting in his office with the prince and princess, your presence is requested as well ma’am” Aiden took my hand and held on very tightly his face changed and I got the feeling that he was not expecting to be called.

“Ouch, Aiden your hurting me” I said tears starting to well up in my eyes from the pain, but he was so focused that he didn’t hear me.

I gasped

“Oh my gosh, that’s really the prince and look there’s the princess, are you really friends with them?…Aiden?” He looked at me his face had no expression, I got this eerie feeling that the Aiden I knew the one I was just dancing with was gone, and I couldn't figure out why.

“Aid what’s going on?” I asked feeling the tears building up in my eyes, and he looked away and stared at the floor.

“Goodness, you still haven’t told her” the prince said exasperated putting his feet on the desk and supporting his head with the back of his arms.

“Do it quickly I want to leave, this ball is boring, and I have reached my limit” the princess said giving me a look up and down.

“Aiden what are they talking about?” Aiden walked to the other man standing by the desk

“Dad, what is this? I still have one more day, you owe me that much” he said with his hands balled up into fits hanging on either side of his body.

“Why string her along any further you’ll be marrying my sister in two weeks, the fact that you found your mate doesn’t change that…come on already…I want to get out of this god forsaken place” his words hit me like a train, what?...marry…in two weeks my heart felt like it was exploding I looked at Aiden his expression told me everything

“The look on your face makes me glad I don’t have a mate; I couldn’t stand being that pathetic” the prince said with a look of disgust directed at me

“Shall we? I think we are done here” the princes said taking Aiden’s hand. I looked at her and at Aiden who said nothing, and my eyes fell on her hand that was wrapped around Aiden's arm, my heart sank when I realised that he was not protesting, he was willingly letting her touch him in a way that I would, he was not protested, he looked at me and said nothing.

I can’t be here; I need to get out of here now! I felt myself about to breakdown, I can’t let them see me fall apart, I turned and faced the door I took the dress in my hand and started running as fast as I could, everything went in slow mothing, all I could hear was my breathing echoing in my ears, I pushed through the crowd, and made my way outside, I continued running letting my feet carry me, my mind was in a haze and everything was a blur, I found myself in the woods, and it got harder and harder to breath, I collapsed on the wet grass and everything I had been supressing came bursting out refusing to be controlled.
