“He cannot scent you Scar” Aiden responded

“What do you mean?”

“I’m your true mate and I’m the only one that can scent you from anywhere, Scar… I’m your true mate, if you believe that and hold on to that then you will be able to find me, give in Scar… give yourself to me” oh Aiden, you’ve always had my heart.

“Yes, I give myself over to you, all of me Aid…I’m yours, body and soul, wolf, and all” I said howling at the moon and at that moment I could scent him, it was clear to me, he is my mate, and my life, my body and my soul are his, my being called out to him, and I knew I could not live without him, his essence seemed far and all I wanted was to reach out to him. I wanted to find him with all my being, how could I have been so ignorant so blatantly suspicious of something so right and so true, I now finally understand what you have been feeling for so long

“I get it Aid, I am yours and you are mine” I hid behind a wall and watched as Xavier and his goons struggled to find me, and then disappear into the distance in hopes of catching me.

“That liar” I said under my breath,

“He can’t scent me at all, all he wants is to be the next Alpha, I cannot let him mate me and take Aiden’s powers away, if that happens he will be too powerful to stop” I sighed in relief

“Now what? What do I do now Aiden?” I closed my eyes with my mother’s words echoing in my mind.

“Today is the full moon and the solstice…maybe going deeper might help” her words becoming a mantra to me. I sat there under the cover of darkness and focused on Aiden’s scent,

“There” I said opening my eyes and following his scent, his scent is so potent it reminds me of how the grass smells after it rains, so beautiful and strong. I started to whimper in my wolf form, I was such an idiot how could I have let you think I don’t want you or need you, I sprinted towards his Scent, wanting, and needing to tell him how much I love him, I need to save him and make him whole again.

“What the hell” I stopped looking at where the scent was leading me to

“The Grey House” I said looking at the Alpha’s house, we call it the Grey house because all the Alpha wolves have had grey coats, I crept through the garden seeing no one there which was very strange as there have always been guards stationed everywhere but no one seemed to be around, not a single guard in sight.

“They’re all probably at the hunt” my wolf whispered

“You’re right” I whispered back walking with more confidence now,

“Aiden’s scent is not coming from the house” I said to myself following it to the back of the house.

“They put him in the shed?” I broke the lock with my pour and went inside,

“Oh, my goodness Aiden” I gasped when I saw that he was chained to the wall, and he looked like they’ve been using him as a punching bag, I bit off the chains with my teeth and he climbed on my back.

“We can’t go to your house Scar”

“Oh, my goodness you’re right, what are we going to do? Where should we go?” I asked feeling myself starting to freak out.

“Calm down Scar I have some friends around here, go that way” I followed his instructions down a dingy ally to a rundown apartment building.

“Press one” he said pointing at the intercom, and the door buzzed letting us in,

“They didn’t even ask who we were, how is that safe?”

“You’re right” he answered considering my words carefully, the door closed behind us, and another opened down the hall and when I looked up my mouth dropped as I looked at the person Aiden trusted the most in the entire world to keep him safe and I couldn’t believe it.

“What? It can’t be” I said as the guy who was chasing me at the mall looked back at me.

“Hello Scarlett, we meet at last” he said lifting Aiden off me and leading us into his apartment. It didn’t have much, just a couch and two chairs that were tucked into the very small table next to the kitchen, it looked more like a safe house than a home.

“A white coat I don’t believe I have ever seen a wolf with a white coat before, it sure is beautiful, I can see why Aiden loves you” the man said helping Aiden sit down on the couch.

I will kill you if you lay a finger on her you bustard” Aiden said with a feeble voice.

” Stop it you two, especially you Aiden, there is no need to overexert yourself” I said brushing up against his leg,

“besides the sun will be up soon and I will be able to turn back” I said not knowing if the man understood me.

He laid Aiden down on his back and got the first aid kit, I stood over him and started licking his wounds.

“Stop Scar, that tickles” he chuckled

“Ouch don’t make me laugh” he said brushing my fur, I laid my head on his chest.

“You can change in there; Nikki’s cloths should be able to fit you” he said dressing Aiden’s wounds.

At dawn when the hunt was over I felt relieved that I had escaped the Mass at least for now. I walked into the bedroom and was glad to see that it was ensuite, I took a quick shower and put on Nikki’s jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers. Aiden looked better now, he was sitting up and eating, I went to him and gave him a hug.

“Hey, not so tight” he said laughing and grimacing in pain at the same time.

“Sorry” I said laying my head on his shoulder,

“I’m just so glad that you’re okay, I was so scared, if anything happened to you, I don’t know what I would do” I said tears starting to well up in my eyes.

“Hey, I’m here and I’m fine, you saved me Scar, I wouldn’t have been here if it wasn’t for you” he said kissing me on the forehead.

“Here you go” the man handed me a plate of food,

“Thanks, you already know my name, but I don’t know yours” I said taking the plate of food he offered and holding out my hand,

“Jake” he said shaking my hand,

“So, will Nikki be joining us soon” I asked, and he gave me a look.

“What? Did I miss something?” Aiden said confused by the tension between us.

“Nikki’s in the hospital; she dislocated her shoulder when your mate here tried to run her over with her car”

Aiden choked on his food

“What? When? How?” Aiden put his plate down on the coffee table and looked at the both of us.

“Is that true” Aiden looked at me for a sign that would tell him that what Jake said was not true.

“Wait now hold on, yes I did almost hit her with my car, but they were chasing me, and I was scared for my life okay, first they stalked me through the mall and then he tried to break my car window” I said pointing at Jake,

“And I was scared, it was either me or them at that point, I’m not the villain here okay” I said folding my arms in protest. The two of them suddenly burst out laughing I looked at them confused, and I sat there feeling foolish

“I asked you not to make me laugh, ouch it hurts too much” he said still laughing and holding his ribs,

“See how cute she is” he said to Jake, and he nodded taking a bite of his sandwich,

“She is cute” he responded with a mouth full of food.

“Why were you chasing me anyway” I asked,

“We were trying to save you, Xavier’s men were after you and we were trying to get to you before they did, but after Nikki dislocated her shoulder we had to stop following you”

I nodded in response feeling bad for almost hitting her with my car.

“So, Aid, are you ready to tell me what happened?” I asked putting my hand in his trying to change the subject

“Yeah, I am” he said putting his plate down.
