Chapter 48

Aiden’s POV

I took a deep breath

“After dropping you off at your house I went home to get some rest, and suddenly I was pulled out of bed in the middle of the night, I think there were three guys”

“You think?” Jake asked confused that I didn’t know how many there were, I could understand his confusion as we trained together for a long time but even he could understand what a surprise it must have been being kidnaped in my own home, so I just nodded in response and continued.

“It was dark, and I had just been woken up abruptly, I tried to fight them, I tried to buy just enough time to shift but one of them hit me on the back of the head and I passed out, I woke up tied up in the shed with a huge headache and when my eyes finally focused I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Xavier standing there, at first I was happy to see him alive but then I realised that I was chained up and the look on his face told me that he was the one that did it”

“But why would he do that?” Scar asked urging me to get to the point.

“That’s exactly what I asked him”

*Flashback begins*

Xavier looked at me and said,

“You’ve had it easy these past thirteen years brother, do you have any idea what I’ve been through?!” his body vibrated with anger.

“Xavier, how are you here? We thought you were dead…we had a funeral and everything, mom and dad will be so happy when”

“Psh” he hissed

“I can’t believe they choose you, you’re not even smart enough to figure out what’s been going on right under your nose the past thirteen years”

I looked at him confused

“What are you talking about?” he kneeled down in front of me

“Twin brothers…that’s fine” he shrugged

“But twin Alphas now that poses a problem” he put his hand on his chin pretending to think

“So, what would you do if you were the Alpha and had twin sons? Who would you chose as your successor?” he stood up and put his hands in his pockets,

“Well, I guess you would have two options the first being you let them grow up and see who is the better of the two and make him Alpha when the time came”

“What’s option two?” I asked trying to keep my composure and get to the bottom of what the hell was going on,

“Well, well, well golden boy here is impatient” he said looking at the three guys behind him and laughed, they looked back at him not knowing what to do and they forced themselves to laugh their demeanour telling me that they were very scared of him.

“Let’s not keep his highness waiting, now then let me continue, where was I, oh right secondly and this is the one that dear old mom and dad choose, its actually not hard you see all you have to do is play a little game I like to call ini mini mani mo, and then you’re done, all that’s left is to send the son that’s it…to military school with the promise that if he works hard and does his absolute best he will be the next Alpha and to keep him on the hook you just have to tell him how important he is and that he needs to understand because this is in preparation for his destiny” he said using air quotes on the word destiny.

“Now imagine my surprise when I found out that I have been dead for the past thirteen years that puts a little damper on the whole next Alpha promise doesn’t it? I mean how can I be Alpha if I’m dead? A dead man has no destiny” he looked furious now and there was a crazy look in his eyes,

“And you” he said moving slowly towards me

“look at you” he crouched down next to me

“What is so special about you, huh, what makes you more worthy than me, huh? Why will you become Alpha and not me?” I just looked at him not flinching letting him know that I wasn’t in the mood to play whatever game he had planned.

“Nothing!” he said punching me in the face,

“you-are-not-better-than-me!” Each word was a punch and when he was done he kicked and when he got tired of kicking he punched, his breathing got heavier with every punch and every kick, soon he became winded unable to continue anymore,

“you boys want a piece of this?” He asked the guys behind him.

“Yes boss” they said excitedly, and they started kicking and punching me as well, there was no escape all I could do to numb the pain was concentrate on Scar everything went black and I found myself in my living room.

“Scarlett” I said when I saw her standing at the table by the window I reached out and grabbed her by the shoulder, my body felt weak and heavy.

“Remember Scar…remember” is all I could manage to say before I came too. I don’t know when I lost consciousness or how long I had been out

“Scarlett!” I screamed waking up

“You don’t have to worry about her the boss is busy buttering her up right now” they said laughing and high fiving each other.

“What do you mean?” I said as I coughed, they didn’t respond they just looked at each other and laughed.

*Flashback ends*

“I knew that it was just a dream when I saw Scar in my living room, but I could feel you, it felt real the connection was too real to be fake and I knew that I had to try and reach you again, whatever it took, I had to try, and I don’t know how but I was able to break through to you somehow… and I could tell that you were in danger, I was so scared when Xavier had you pinned down, but you fought resiliently and I’m so proud of you” I said giving her a kiss.

“That leads us to this moment” I took Scarlett’s hand and kissed it,

“I’m here right now because of you Scar”

“I wish I could’ve gotten to you sooner, I don’t get it though, why does he want to mate me so badly?” Scarlett asked with a look of worry in her eyes,

“The connection we have is so strong and I’m only alive because of it, so essentially Xavier wants to break our connection, and only then will he be able to kill me”

“What? He wants to kill you!” she said grabbing my hand in disbelieve, I nodded,

“but why, he is your brother?”

“He wants to be Alpha”

“So, he needs to break our bond and the only way to break it is by mating me?”

“Yes and no, with the full moon he will be able to leave me completely powerless and mating you on not just the full moon but also on the solstice not only can he saver our connection, but all my power will be transferred to him, and he will be unstoppable”

“So, what now? How do we stop him?” Jake asked ready to fight.

“Tonight, is the ascension ceremony and we need to stop him before he is named the new Alpha” I responded,

“What about your mom and dad, do they know?” Scar asked,

“I don’t think they do, you’ve seen how much we look alike, and he is good at pretending to be me, if he can fool you he can fool anyone” I said looking at Scar, and she bit her lip and I saw that she was embarrassed that she couldn’t tell the difference between him and me.

“They might be in danger and not even know it” Jake said, and I nodded knowing the gravity of the situation.

“Any ideas?” I asked him and he looked back at me and started formulating a plan,

“The place will be heavily guarded, but we can make our way in without being noticed, because Xavier’s advantage is also our advantage” Scarlett and I looked at him with a what are you talking about look.

“I mean you guys are identical twins you can pass off as him and we can slip right in”

“I know that” I said trying to save face Scarlett saw right through me and laughed.

“Okay, once we are inside we need to locate the Alpha and the Luna and explain the situation to them and restore you to your rightful place and this nightmare will finally be over” he said feeling very proud of himself,

“First we need to look the part” I added

“I like the sound of that” Jake responded clamping his hands together.
