Chapter 49
Scarlett’s POV
I felt very chic in my high-low black and white dress, it had a sleeveless scoop-neck illustration bodice and covered in a swirling embroider pattern that showcased the sweetheart lining. Matching lace paten trimmed the inner hem of the high-low skirt for a unique and trendy look, from the waist the satin skirt flowed in A-line shape and showcased my Jimmy Choo’s. Aiden and Jake both looked hot in their tuxedoes
“Good evening sir” the security at the door just let us through after seeing Aiden,
“That was easy” I said relieved
“Now to find my parents” Aiden said rushing through the crowd heading to his fathers office, this room sent back painful memories and I started to tear up remembering how I felt when the princess revealed that she and Aiden were going to be mates and that Aiden had lied to me about it. I can’t believe he was going to give me up, I took a deep breath calming myself down.
“Mom, dad thank goodness you’re alright” Aiden rushed to them and gave his mother a hug, the Alpha look up and just as quickly looked back at what he was reading, that must be his speech I thought to myself
“What are you talking about Aiden? And when did you change? I’m not complaining I like this clean-cut look much better; I don’t know what possessed you to even consider wearing that horrible red Suede suite any way” the Luna said emphasising the word Suede.
“That was not me mom” Aiden said looking intently into his mother’s eyes
“You’re god damned right it wasn’t I almost got a heart attack when I saw you in that thing, I said it was out of character didn’t I Nathan?” his dad just nodded not taking his eyes off his speech.
“It’s good that you're both sitting down because I have something I need to tell you” the look on his moms’ face turned to worry,
“the person you have been with the past few days was not me, it was Xavier” the Luna’s face tuned to anger.
“Do you think that is funny, bringing up your dead brother on the day of your ascension” the Luna said angrily, and I looked at the Alpha and his face was one of surprise and as the Luna kept accusing Aiden of being heartless his face turned to shame.
“You did it on your own didn’t you? You let them think he was dead, but you secretly shipped him off and hoped you would never have to deal with him again” I said walking to the middle of the room and joining Aiden next to the Luna.
“Stop this nonsense” the Luna said frustrated that we are taking this prank way too far,
“you know I don’t like you, I never did” she said pointing a finger at me,
“and now you come here and play along with whatever sick game this is, I can’t believe you’re going to be the next Luna” she said infuriated.
“Mom, calm down it’s not good for your health” Aiden said,
“Are you going to come clean?” I asked the Alpha completely ignoring the scowling look the Luna was giving me.
“Why you little…” he said walking towards me in an attacking position.
“I wouldn’t do that If I were you”
“Jake” I said realising he was standing right next to me; he must have moved very fast, because one moment he was at the door and the next he was right next to me.
“Oh, lookie here, the golden boy made it, hello sweetheart” he said winking at me.
“Oh my god, it’s true” the Luna said
“I’m sorry my love, I didn’t want to burden you” the Alpha said looking at the Luna with a look of defeat.
“Nathan what is going on? How is Xavier here? What did you do?” the Luna looked at the Alpha with tears streaming down her face.
“Don’t you dare pretend like you didn’t know…don’t you dare!” Xavier said furiously as he walked in with six of his goons following close behind him.
“Xavier my boy you’re alive, Nathan explain now!” the Luna said shaking in her chair
“Oh, you really didn’t know” Xavier said laughing,
“wow you really are diabolical, everyone thinks you’re such a saint, but they have no idea what you are capable off” he continued walking towards the Alpha.
“Go ahead Nathan do enlighten us on your thought process” he said sitting on the desk
“I’m the Alpha damn it; I don’t need to explain my actions to anyone!” Xavier gave him a look that said don’t push me, but the Alpha didn’t budge Xavier snapped his fingers and one of the goons grabbed the Luna by the neck and started squeezing, and the rest of them held our hands behind our back stopping us from helping her, two were on Aiden two on Jake, and one on me, we struggled but couldn’t get free.
“She is running out of time Nathan, granted she didn’t have a lot of time left to begin with but still” he said smirking at the Alpha.
“Okay stop!” the Alpha pleaded,
“I will tell you everything, please just stop” Xavier nodded to the goon that was strangling the Luna and he let go, the Luna started coughing trying to catch her breath and the Alpha exhaled deeply with relief.
“Well, we’re waiting” Xavier said sitting on the table and gesturing to the rest of us.
“Even back then you were out of control, you got into fights constantly, you were such a troublesome child” he said looking at Xavier, the smug look that Xavier had disappeared, and he looked annoyed at what he was hearing.
“Your mother used to say that you will grow out of it and that it was just a phase but even then I knew you were a monster” to this the Luna sobbed loudly.
“I knew that your mother would never let you go, and I had to make that hard decision on my own, so on the morning when you were meant to go to the amusement park I slipped a laxative into you’re orange juice and when Aiden and Maria had gone your mother went to run some errands, and I put my plan into motion, I had to make you disappear” Aiden shook his head unable to move and my jaw dropped to the ground.
“And you told me how special I was, and you told me that I needed to go to that horrible place and be groomed as the next Alpha, but that was total bullshit!” Xavier slammed his hand on the table.
“Diabolical” Jake said in disbelief
“Well guess what father I’m here to fulfil my destiny and take my rightful place as Alpha as planned.
“Scarlett my love, if you would join me?” Xavier said extending his hand to me.
“Don’t you dare touch her!” Aiden said angrily trying to fight his way out of his prison.
“Don’t worry about it, Xavier, you’re already dead remember” Xavier said to Aiden and he winked at the guy who was holding me hostage,
“Aiden!” I screamed as the guy dragged me out and the door slammed behind us, and Xavier took over and dragged me to the ceremony hall.
“Let go of me” I struggled to get out of Xavier’s grip.
“This is not how the Luna behaves, I can see that my brother has let you do whatever you want” he pulled me in forcefully.
“Well, that is going to change under my rule” he said with a smirk
“I will not be your Luna” I said forcing my arm free from his grip
“Look Scarlett let me explain something to you, because for some reason you seem to not understand what is going on here, I see my brother picked a mate as dumb as he is, essentially if you want the Alpha, Luna and your precious Aiden to make it out of this alive you will stand in front of all those wolves and pledge your allegiance to me and show honour to the newly crowned Alpha” I threw daggers at him with my eyes.
“Ready?” he asked, and I nodded in response
“But I’m doing this for Aiden not you”
“Yeah whatever, just play your part and it’ll all be over soon” we walked into the ceremony, the music changed to the coronation anthem and the whole congregation stood up and turned and looked at us, some smiling and others crying, I looked in surprise when I saw the Alpha and Luna standing next to the officiant, as I looked closely I saw how calm they looked, the Luna gave me a reassuring look that told me everything was fine, but I couldn’t help but feel uneasy, where is Aiden? And what the hell is going on? My heart pounded and I couldn’t shake this uneasy feeling. We got to the alter, I stood at his right side, the Luna and Alpha stood at his left, he sat at the chair looking regal with a smug smile slapped across his face.
The officiant started the ceremony and my head started ringing, I stood there paralysed not knowing what to do.
“Aid please hurry”
