Chapter 184
"Don't you get it, Nikita?" Calhoun snapped. He had been trying hard to make things go smoothly between them but she kept insisting and hoping like she stood any chance.
Nikita got taken aback and this time it looked like she was about to cry real tears as she looked on at Calhoun.
"You left me a long time ago. What did you think? I would keep revelling in your beauty. Or that I would keep hoping you came back?" Calhoun spat angrily.
"I am done with you, Nikita! In fact, I have been done a long time ago!"
"But why did you look so shocked to see me in the dining hall?" She squeaked holding on to the thread of her emotions.
Calhoun hissed as he tried to hold back his anger. "You are like a ghost in my life Nikita! It's only normal for me to be shocked to see you. I never thought you could still exist and much less find your way back here! I considered you dead and gone! And if you don't mind, I prefer it to stay that way. Talk to me if you have to but stay within your limits. I have a woman now. A sweet woman that I would be marrying soon. And don't you dare ruin it for me because I will hurt you nikita, and you know it." His voice wasn't high. It was low and stern. He meant every word he uttered and Nikita knew it.
When he walked out on her. It took all of her modesty not to stumble to the ground and cry. It meant everything she and Lily planned had failed. Calhoun was a man of his words. If he said he was going to hurt her, if she tried anything funny with his fiancee then he was truly going to do it.
Her career was on the verge of collapsing but it still didn't mean she wanted her face scarred. She could still get a side role and for that, she would need her face and all the beautiful features she could get from herself.
She moved to her room with a shaking heart and bleeding lungs. Her emotions were all over the place. Her thoughts were fixated on one thing —her failure to get Calhoun back.
Losing him was the first of her mistakes in life. Now, Lily had given her false hopes. But she had seen that there was no need to even try. Calhoun was never going to look at her the way he used to when they were little.
Nikita got to her room and leaned on the door as it shut close. What would she do now? She needed money —badly. How was she going to get the money? Calhoun was her last hope! No one in the industry would even marry her because everyone knew how much of a gold digger she was.
Hot tears trailed down her face as she tried to think but nothing came to her mind. Her makeup was ruined and her tears were starting to soil her dress.
Nikita didn't know for how long she had been there before she heard a low knock on her door. She quickly got up and dabbed her tears away from her face with the back of her long-sleeved top.
"Yes," she replied trying to sound sweet but her ears could pick the sob in it.
The door opened slightly and Matt poked his head inside. "Trouble in paradise? You sound like you are dying?" He asked wiggling his brows.
Nikita ran to Matt and hugged him. She didn't have to pretend in front of him. While she was around, she and he had shared a lot of intimate moments without anyone's knowledge.
Matt held her in his arms as he fully stepped into the room and locked the room properly. He rubbed a hand at her back as he tried to soothe her. "Whats rub?" He asked as a frown slowly formed on his face.
Though he heard her voice sound funny when she answered his knock, he didn't think it was anything important till she broke down in his arms. His heart ached and he couldn't comprehend why.
"Why are you crying?" He asked again when she had calmed her sobs.
"I don't know what to do Matt," she said pulling away from him. She moved to the bed and sat down gently.
"I came here because I thought I still had a chance with Cally and his wealth was just too good to ignore... and I put in all my eggs in it Matt... what should I do now?"
Matt knew that Nikita wouldn't come back to Calhoun because she loved him. He knew she never loved his cousin. Now that she confessed it to him. A small grin wrapped itself around his lips as he went to join her on the bed. Rather than sit or comfort her. He laid on the bed and placed his head on her lap.
She frowned at once as she glared at him. "What do you think you are doing?"
Matt got even more comfortable and he trailed a finger across her cheeks. "I was wondering why you would want to come here the moment I saw you and now I am glad you have told me... for a second I thought you had missed me..."
"Oh please, spare me the boring tales of your little penis! Matt, I am talking about my life getting ruined here! The least you can do is to listen to me complain about it!" She sneered pushing him away.
He sat up and pulled impossibly closer to her. "You can only think straight after a good round of sex, don't you think?" He cooed moving to her right ear. "And you just insulted my manhood. We will have to do something about that... don't you think?" He whispered sending shivers down her core.
There was something about Matt that made it impossible for Nikita to reject him ever since she had met him and even today, she couldn't resist the strong urge she had to kiss him.
