Chapter 94
Ariana Brown woke up with a smile on her face. She was still confused about what she would do about Calhoun's proposal, but she knew she wouldn't stay at home for a whole week. That would make the world think she only came there to seduce him or something. She would go to work... She had to.
Ariana got up from her bed and took a quick shower. She was humming her favourite song as she placed her long hair into a low bun. She picked a red dress for the day. Inwardly, she wanted to tease Calhoun. He wouldn't be able to face his papers when he saw her.
She finished up her dressing and as usual ordered a ride to the Lawson group building. She had made it a tradition to get to work earlier than even Olga the receptionist. This way she could complete her work and also help others before Calhoun came.
Her taxi was waiting for her in front of the apartment as she took careful steps with her low heel. The dress accentuated her long legs, hugging her curves so tight Calhoun would go wild imagining her thighs. Aria smiled to herself as she mounted the car
The driver gave her weird stares from behind the steering but she paid him no attention. She wanted to tease Calhoun today and that was what she would be doing.
She watched the city scenery pass her by as she laid her head on the car window. The city was just awakening for it was barely seven in the morning. The traffic was low and the air still felt cold. But all these meant nothing to Aria. She was smiling because she couldn't wait for what the day held for her and Calhoun.
"We are here ma'am," the driver said and Aria blinked her eyes. She had zoned out for a minute and didn't realize they were already there.
"Thanks," she said as she picked up her bag and files. She paid the driver and took slow steps to the building.
The security almost whistled when he saw her but tried to keep a professional face. Aria smiled at him as she passed. Her smile grew even wider when she found Olga wasn't there yet. She moved to her desk and helped her set the attendance booklet and the system in place.
Next, she moved to the elevator and straight to Sarah's office. She pushed the door open and she was met with confused hazel eyes staring back at her.
"What are you doing here, I thought Mr. Lawson said you wouldn't be coming in this week?" She asked.
Aria smiled and moved closer to the table. "Well, it seems I am not taking any day off. I am here!" She said throwing her hands in the air.
Even she was starting to wonder where her excitement came from.
"So, is there anything I can do to help?" Aria asked.
Sarah slipped her bottom lips into her mouth as she looked around her table. "Actually... There is..." She picked up a large folder and pushed it towards Aria. "...if it isn't too much to ask of course. But can you help me sort the files that are in there?"
Aria beamed up and grabbed the folder. "With pleasure! And don't you ever think that you are asking for too much. Doing this things will help me familiarize myself with the company faster!"
Sarah smiled at her words. "You know, when you first got here. I was worried."
Aria trued to understand the context but couldn't so she decided to ask her about it. "What do you mean? Why were you worried?"
Sarah dropped the pen in her hands and took a small breath. "First because I was certain Mr. Lawson didn't need an assistant. I use to think he was bent on killing me.. " she said with a laugh in her voice.
"Secondly because you are very beautiful and most beautiful women aren't always that smart..."she said scratching the back to her neck awkwardly.
Aria laughed at this. "Come on Sarah. I am not even that beautiful plus I am not even smart either!"
Sarah warmed up to her and they both shared a laugh. "Either ways, you are an exceptional person. I am glad you are on the team."
"Thanks," Aria said as a blush crept on her cheeks. "I should go check on Zion..."
Sarah's eyes went up with alarm as if she just remembered something. She suddenly jumped out of her seat and Aria wondered what was wrong with her.
"Don't go to Zion's office! Just stay in yours."
Aria raised her brows in question. As Sarah's statement confused her. "Why? Is something wrong?"
Sarah held her head as she looked around as if the words in her brains had spilled over the floor. "No. Nothing is wrong. It's just that... I have checked on him." She moved to where Aria stood and started leading her to the door. "I will get you everything you need but please do not step out till after I come to you.."
Now Aria was even more confused than before. "Sarah?" She tried to ask but Sarah had already brought her to her door.
"I will explain everything later. Just stay in your office and only come out when I come to you!" Sarah said with beady eyes.
Ariana took a deep breathe and stood at her door. She didn't want to sound harsh or cruel. But she had to make Sarah understand. So she pulled her gently into the office and closed the door.
"Sarah, you don't expect me to do that without an explanation, do you? What if I want to buy something?"
Sarah groaned internally. "I know you don't need to go out and get anything because Mr. Lawson gets you lunch..."
Ariana raised her brows again. So, the entire building knew that she and Calhoun shared lunch everyday, wonderful!
Sarah saw the look in her face and tried to quickly change her words. "I don't- we don't gossip or stare. I just know!"
She held her head and squeezed her eyes shut like she was going through a sort of breakdown.
"Sarah, you've got to tell me what's going on, because I won't stop! I can't stay in here and not step out like some prisoner. What's happening!?" The whole thing was starting to scare her and her heart was now beating dangerously fast.
"Miss Alice is coming!" Sarah squeaked.
